Walking is so beneficial to our health. I used to have high blood pressure, but was able to get it under control just by walking most days of the week during my lunch hour for 30-45 minutes. 3000 steps is a good start, but there are tons of ways to increase your step count. First of all, you have a pedometer, right? Second, walk whenever possible. Use the bathroom on the other side of the office, park in the row furthest from the building, take the stairs instead of the elevator or escalator. Start off with small goals for yourself. For example, increase your steps each day. If you did 3000 yesterday, aim for 4000 today. Good luck!

Welcome! Sandra has some great ideas. Basically anytime you can walk do so, park far away from the door when shopping. Use the stairs instead of the elevator when possible. Just remember the benefits of walking are great - start slow and build up. You are off to a good start!

Hi and welcome,

While chatting on the phone stand up and walk in place. I walk in place when I am in front of the TV while watching a show or during a commercial. I also walk in place while brushing my teeth.

Hello everyone, I have tried for a year to keep up with sparkpeope.com to login and use it. I have been working during the day and going school at night and have two boys. I know thatís not a good reason. Now that I finished night school for a while I have more time for me HA!! Known that I have time I need to lose about 30 pounds by the summer I already lost 10 pounds from stop drinking soda. This 10K steps a day would help me. I have already started this with my doctor. So far I average about 3,000 steps a day. I need find more ways to reach my 10k steps. Any advice would help.
