good luck with your goals
Welcome. You are off to a great start when you love to walk. My suggestion is to make sure you don't cause any harm by wearing your pedometer around a few days and find out where your "normal" number of steps are and increase walking by 200 or so steps/day each week until you are at your goal.
I know when I go too fast at the start, I can cause shin splints and other painful things and have to back off and let things heal.

I´m a Texan, living in Madrid, Spain and addicted to walking. I LUV walking and plan to use it as my main weight loss tool. In the past have had some problems with my left foot, but right now all´s go for a new start. I want to lose 40+ lbs, and will put on my pedometer again and get those 10,000 steps tomorrow. Am thrilled to find this group and plan to be active!
Happy New Year everybody from Spain!
