Could you get a dog or borrow a neighbor's? My mutt is the BEST walking partner, and we have been out a daybreak more than once. I am in Pennsylvania, and we get heat and humidity also, and my dog is 13, she minds sunshine as well as humidity. I do have a treadmill for backup (usually pop in a movie when on that) but I much prefer outside walks. I will admit that I probably would not walk outside as much if I didn't have her, and our walks are helping to keep her healthy also. I also have a human partner in summer (she works for the school system and has already returned to work) and am meeting a new partner tomorrow, but Splash is the best. She never bails on me and does all I ask of her.

Use the shopping malls in your area to do your walking. Get a walking dvd and do it inside your home and find indoor tracks in your area. But use your mall .

Yes it is hard to get the steps in with this hot and humid weather. I live in n,c and it really gets hot here. I do alot of inside walking, a day of shopping doing laundry ect. I get around 4000. I know 10 -15000 steps a day is needed and I will get there one day . So just try to do your best and just be thankful you are up and moving.

I appreciate your suggestions. No there are no community or church groups. There is no community board.

Walking in this heat and humidity is hard. The low for the nights are in the mid to upper 70's.
At this time, 10 AM it is already 81 with a heat index of 85.

Hi Marg, being motivated during the heat is extremely hard. Many members tend to walk earlier in the morning before it gets too hot, or later in the evening for the same reason.

Do you have a community area such as a church or walking group you could also join in with so that you are not alone in this? You could put up a little notice on a community board asking for a walking buddy - it might bring a result, worth a try?

It's getting hot here again, and I hibernate. I really need someone to keep me moving. I am honestly lost in hot or humid weather to be motivated to move (lucky to get 2000 steps).,

Reply to above. I did try it. Still found no one willing. I am not talking about going someplace in cyber space. emoticonemoticonemoticon
