Thank you everyone for all the support! I have kept up the 5000 a day this week, even managed to put in some extra steps yesterday while at work to get 5100 (that included walking to an office building down the street to deliver a report instead of faxing it or driving to turn it in, not sure how my bosses feel about it but I decided it was worth it and only took a little time). It's great to be part of such an awesome team! Go us!
Welcome. It is always frustrating when our lives don't go as we script them. I think your setting a goal and working toward it is a great thing. Add a couple of hundred steps a week to your daily goal and soon you will be finding yourself easily getting to your goal steps.

Hi everyone! I decided that since I don't want to let myself just drop out this time, I am determined to be more visible and active, which means posting an introduction (for starters). In my twenties, I was an avid exerciser who couldn't gain weight (groan). I walked and did some jogging and running. Then I got a divorce and suddenly gained a whopping 80 pounds as I saw the life I expected to have disappear.
I let food and anger keep me going through the rough transition time, but then hid myself and my emotions through work and humor...oh, and food, which was always my one true love and constant throughout my life. It's always been easy for me to be positive and upbeat whenever it concerns other people, I'm a mom at heart who just never got to have children of her own. It's the spending time on myself that still needs work, I suppose.
For the past 5 years I have been sick. Recurring problems that were quite scary. Recently I was diagnosed with Lyme Disease, though some of my docs say there is no such thing as Chronic Lyme, all I know is that I don't care what anyone calls it anymore as long as someone can help.
I'm tired of being sick and tired, and though I will not likely be up to 10,000 steps a day within the next week (I'm only at 3000 now on most workdays, depending on my health sometimes less), I WILL get there.
