Hi there. I know what you mean about pain. I just had a cortison shot to my right hip as I have bursitis. I am taking Aleve (2 in the a.m., 2 in the p.m.) for about 10 days until the inflammation goes away. I am trying to lose weight just by cutting down on portions and drinking more water and getting more exercise and it's working so far. I have lost 7 pounds in 2 weeks! I weigh 249.6 so it's going to be a long haul but it will be well worth it in the end.
Hi Darlene, Lovely to have you with us - I had a pelvic/back injury 7 yrs ago and it was walking that stopped me from becoming 'disabled'.
Thats why its so important to only walk towards your own personal goals and achievements and not use this team as a competition. It doesn't matter whether you walk one day to the next, but what you do manage is something to be proud of.
Look forward to watching your progress and hope to see your records on the September Steps.
I find that if I walk for longer than half an hour, I get really stiff to where I have to sit down sometimes. I note that when I go shopping I have to grab a cart for support. I am hopeful that by losing about 50-60 pounds, this will help a LOT.

I also have osteoarthritis -of both hips- had my left one replaced Nov 2009 and the right one done Jan 2010-if I sit for too long I get stiff but walking and hiking doesn't bother me. I also wear my pedometer every day-working on getting more consistent numbers-some day over 10000 others only 5000. it just takes time and commitment.

PEACE- it does not mean to be in a place where there is no noise, trouble or hard work. It means to be in the midst of those things and still BE CALM IN YOUR HEART. (unknown)

Hi Darlene. My name is Sandi and I live in Michigan. I have osteoarthritis in my upper back and knees and also right hip, which I did have a hip replacement on. It was painful before the surgery...that was two years ago and I feel fine except the past year I noticed burning pain after standing longer than 5-10 minutes. Turns out I have hip bursitis and I just went for a cortisone shot yesterday. It didn't hurt as bad. It is giving me some relief but I am also taking 4 doses of Aleve...2 in the a.m., 2 at night for about 12 days and see if that helps with the inflammation.
I want to start walking too but I do stiffen up but I have to keep going. That will help my weight too. I weigh 249.6 now and I am on a diet but actually, I am watching my portions and not eating all day...I am eating to live, not living to eat :0)
Hi My name is Darlene. I live in a small town east of North Bay Ontario. The reason I started walking was I have osteoarthritis in my knees and hips and found walking helped ease the pain. I use my pedometer where ever I go.
