Hello all!
I am the mom of four teenagers and have been working on changing my lifestyle and being kind to myself since March 2014. One thing I've made a goal is to get 10,000 steps a day! Bought myself a new fit bit to keep track. Looking for buddies to keep me focused and to cheer on!

Hi my name is Gwen I live in South Florida. DH and I are both retired; we have 3 adult children and 3 grands. I love brisk early morning outside walks; my daily goal is to get in at least 10,000 (don't always accomplish that, some days are better than others). When I can't walk outside, I use the treadmill for 30 min. Consistency is what I am working on. Looking forward to being apart of this team.

Hello! I have rejoined sp after being away and having two babies...the babies are now 2 and 4 and I am ready to start taking better care of myself. I bought a fitbit on Friday and I love it! Today I made it over the 10,000 mark and my goal is to do this again everyday. Feels great to be moving! I was excited when I found this group. I'm hoping to sprinkle extra steps in throughout my day so I can get in better shape and lose some weight.

Hi all--My name is Priscilla and I have been with SP since Jan.2014--I've lost some weight and now enjoy water, walking and clean eating.
I am a T1D (type one diabetic), I'll be 70 yrs. young on Nov. 1st, and I have arthritic hips.

I still see no reason why I can't make it to 10000 steps by the end of the month (my highest daily total so far has been around 8500)--10K --that's my goal.
I'm looking forward to being held accountable by the 10K steps team, so here goes!!

Hi! I have returned to SparkPeople and I am going to stick with my goals to get fit and healthy again. I was diagnosed with Lymphoma in 2009 and have issues with muscular myopathy, neuropathy, shortness of breath, but I am bound and determined to get out and get walking!

Prior to my dx, I used to walk 3.5 miles per day. Now it is a struggle to walk down the block -- I am going to put on my pedometer and start with baby steps in the hopes that I will increase my stamina and eventually make it to 10K steps a day! emoticon

Welcome to the team, Corinna! Glad you found us. Sorry to hear about your accident, but it does sound like you are getting a handle on your situation and taking steps to becoming a more active person.

I think that is emoticon

The 10K suggested goal is just that - a suggestion. If you can reasonably attain it, more power to you. I would build up gradually if you are not there yet. And not everyone finds that a reasonable goal. Moving and aiming for fitness is the way to go, in my opinion!

Good morning,

My name is Corinna and I'm a food-a-holic.

I was in a car accident last August. While my car was squished, I was mostly fine.. but it was a minor back and arm injury that I didn't deal with which led to chronic.. aches and the inability to bend usefully.

So I did the mature thing and ate my frustration.

I got myself a pedometer (a vivofit, actually) in April because my weight was going up and up and up (have lost 15 since June 1st).

It was a HUGE eye opener.. I have been incredibly active my entire life. I had to scale my workouts after the accident and my vivofit was physical proof I wasn't doing enough.

Life is better (I'm not fully recovered, but I was never flexible), but I seem to not care as much about the 10,000 steps per day goal.

I get my steps on days I run and play soccer.. but I want to reach my 10,000 steps 9/10 days... giving myself the chance to miss it 3 times per month.

Fall is clearly on its way *sigh*. I'm here to get my competitive hackles up and keep up with the 10,000 steps per day.

I have to allow for issues.. like how I did pistols squats and played soccer yesterday and now have a butt twank.. Thankfully I have physio later today. Maybe I'll run in the pool to get my 10,000. :)

I have been a member of Spark People since 2006 and had great motivation and success when logging on consistently way back then. I don't know why I ever stopped, but I do know that I need that motivation and support again as I start over with my weight loss goals once again. I use a FitBit Force and recently bought a treadmill so I can stop making excuses that it's too hot, cold, wet or windy outside. I have made an effort to hit my 10,000 step goal this past week while on vacation, and I'm happy to report that I lost 2 lbs while on vacation rather than gaining 2 lbs! Whew!! I look forward to being motivated and hopefully motivating other members of this group.

Hi Everyone! I am Brenda and have been working with a health advocate in walking. My goal for each day at this point is 4,000 steps with a weekly goal of 28,000. But I would like to do 10,000 at some point. But my health advocate just wants me to do 4,000 and then will get with me again to see how I do. I am looking forward to being a part of this team!

I just got a fitbit a few months back. I started SP earlier this month. I am averaging around 6,000 steps. I have only made 10,000 once since I got my fitbit. I would love to reach 10,000 every day. I hope this group will help me stay encouraged into doing that.

I'm just getting started in tracking my steps - got a new pedometer and am still tweaking it, with intentions of tracking my steps daily and working up to 10K+ (so far, I haven't tracked a full day, because I was wearing it in a way that caused me to accidentally hit the reset button!)

I lost all this weight once before, but have gained it back over the last little while, particularly after an injury kept me housebound for a while. For now, I'm tracking to see where I'm really at - over time you lose track. (Turns out I'm exercising more than I thought, and eating less (Why the weight gain then?? Grrrr.))

I'm back at it now and am determined to be kind to myself - celebrating successes, and accepting that it's not about where I'm at, but where I'm headed. I know I'll look back at this time and feel thankful for the choice to take care of myself!

I enjoy walking 10,000 steps a day because it certainly increases stamina, fitness, and I also find it my special time to reflect, pray, and organize my day. I am happy to have found a team that allows me to track and communicate my walking activities.

I absolutely love music. I am a singer and musician, the pianist, in a gospel blue grass band, The Kelso Heartbeats for Jesus. We minister in music and testimony to eight soon to be nine nursing/retirement homes in our local area. We also conduct one church service a month. We are currently looking for a building to start our own church.

I have always been involved with music. I play the piano, organ, string bass, and guitar and sing as well. I have been involved in Christian musicianship since the age of ten. The joy of music stirs my soul. I work out to Christian music....I have downloaded our blue grass songs to iTunes and love worshiping and singing as I get more fit.

I have journeyed with our Lord and Savior through a 100 weight loss trek, plus I will be celebrating 1,000 days of sobriety within a few days. The Serenity Prayer is a guidepost for me as well. One of my favorite blue grass gospel songs is, " I'm Using My Bible for a Road Map." I read the Word daily in English and in Spanish. I am bilingual and wish I could use Spanish more where I live. We travel to Akumal, Mexico each year. We love it there.

Hello~I use a fitbit and have been trying to hit 10,000 steps a day. Right now I am working on doing some longer walks (1 to 2 miles) at a stretch, with the overall goal still being 10,000 a day

Hi there Jace....I'm still new to a lot of this stuff...but I went and added myself to the Team Goals at the bottom of the Team page just to see how it works. It seems to collect it's data from my Fitness Tracker entries...so that one really takes care of itself. And for me....I joined the Monthly Personal Steps just to participate.

Hi, all !

My name is Sue and I just joined. I am 54 (as of yesterday, lol) and from New York and will be Mama of the Bride this coming Saturday!

Once all of the stress of that is over I plan to re-commit myself to a good exercise routine. I've had some chronic lower back pain all year that I have allowed to sideline me for way too long. I am going to have some physical therapy for it and then work on strengthening my core and my back.
