Hi everyone, I'm Jacey! I forgot to introduce myself when I joined. I would love to log 10,000 a day w consistency. A lot of my steps are indoor walk around rooms and stairs...also step in place and sometimes a stepper if my knees are okay. I hope those type of steps are okay to count...I figure just moving more is an improvement even if not a real walk. This morning I forced myself to log 1000 on pedometer before I could have my coffee! emoticon

Hello my name is Lisa. One of my weekly goals is to hit 70000 steps per week or 10000 steps a day! I have been doing pretty good getting there. So happy I found this group. I started doing 10000 steps back at the end of February and since I have entered a run club and will be doing a 5 Km on April 27. (another goal) Walking myself to a healthy lifestyle!


Life is like a box of chocolates, you never know what you are going to get!

Hi everyone!! My name is Adrianne, and I just wanted to say hi and also say that I'm really excited to join this group! I did my first day of 10,000 steps, and I'm pretty proud of myself! I took my dog to the park, and we walked about 1 mile. I did Leslie Sansone's 1 mile "Walk Away the Pounds" video. I realized after all of that I was about 1,200 steps short of my goal, so I walked around my living room while I was watching a movie. I feel great, and I definitely want to keep this up. We can all do it!! emoticon

Hi Everyone,
I'm Vickii and glad to join in on this journey. I believe all this enthusiasm will give me the impetus - to increase my steps past the 10,000 per day. I have been getting some great workouts /w incline and increasing speed on the treadmill. but I look forward to walking outside again with the days getting longer and weather improving. I will commit to walking 7 days a week instead of my usual 5 emoticon emoticon emoticon

Hi everyone! My name is Sarah and I just joined the group. My husband and I welcomed our first child (a boy!) in February 2013, and I want to get down to a healthier size before we try for another child... consistent exercise has been the last missing piece of my weight loss puzzle!

I recently ordered the Spark Activity Tracker, and I can't wait for it to come this week! My 30th birthday is this Sunday (April 6th!) and I have made a personal promise to use my pedometer to help me exercise every day of my 30th year! I even bought some fun neon workout socks and am eyeing a pair of crazy bright tie dye Asics. I might as well make my walks crazy, colorful and fun ;) See you around!

Hi, I'm Cindy. I wear my pedometer most days but rarely get enough steps. I'm on my feet at work but it's mostly just standing in one place. I got a couple puppies with the thought that they will get me outside & walking. So far that hasn't happened (we have a big backyard for them to run). Now that the weather is getting better, there really is NO excuse.

My birthday is coming up April 3, and hubby and I will be going to the beach for a few days (we live in Florida) and I truly love walking at sunrise on the beach, where the sand and the water gives a really good workout for the legs, but it doesn't feel like the "burden" of exercise. I know some people run on the beach, but even if my knees could stand it, I'm happy to walk, and take the time to truly enjoy the wonders of nature. I want to live closer to a beach, so I could walk it every day. Maybe when I retire.

Hi everybody! I hope by joining this team it will keep me on track. I was walking 10,000 - 15,000 steps a day most days of the week in 2012, but then in early 2013 I had to have foot surgery, and then I got this awful bronchitis, I guess from being in the hospital, and then fluid went into my ears and I couldn't hear, and it just took me a long time to get healthy again, and an even longer time to get back on track with the walking. (I survived 2013!)

So, I'm working toward doing 10,000 + steps a day again, but have only been managing it about 3 times a week so far. Unfortunately, I've got heel spurs which flare up sometimes and problematic knees, so occasionally when I overdo, like on Sunday, where I "dance-walked" for three miles, (13,482 steps that day) the next day I could barely move around, so I only managed 3350 steps). I know, kind of idiotic, but sometimes I get into the "zone", and I can't get myself to stop. Listening to music while I'm walking and sort of "dance-walking" my way around the neighborhood is a lot of fun, and gives me hope that I will one day get stronger and lose some extra weight that clings to me like a bougainvillea bush. (Live in Miami)

Hello Everyone! My name is Vanessa and I've just joined the team! Hi, everyone! I'm Marta. I live in hilly Western Pennsylvania. I love walking and usually walk a lot outside, but sometimes depression and arthritis keep me at home. I was sick a lot this winter and now have to rebuild my distance and stamina. I'm extremely slow walker, but extremely stubborn, too :)

Hi, I'm back with SparkPeople and looking for a very active team to help keep me walking (and tracking). This looks like the place! A surprise snowstorm has cut into my walking time today but I'm sure sunnier days are ahead. For now, it had to be some strength training inside. emoticon Amanda to the team. You do NOT have to do 10K steps to be on this team. We have folks ranging from 200 to 20,000 - the important thing is that you keep moving and try to increase your steps gradually. Slow but sure is the best way not to overwhelm yourself and to stick with it.

Hello everyone, it's been a while since I joined this team, but I never got around to introducing myself.

I'm Bine, from Germany, I've been on Spark for a couple of years and I got my first fitbit in July last year. Since then I have lost more than 25 lbs which motivates me a lot to stick to my 10,000 steps!

I already lost 50 lbs once and then regained most of it after quitting smoking while taking time off SP. That brought me back here in a hurry! I know I can do it again!

hi, my name is Rose and I just joined the team. I have been walking 10,000+ for a few months now and have gotten up to 16,000+. I bought myself the spark activity tracker and its really been a good motivator for me. I challenge myself each day to get atleast the 10,000 minimum and anything over that I feel is a plus for me. trying to lose 35 lbs atleast by june of this year. had formerly lost those same 35 lbs and gained it back and got off of sparks for awhile. decided 2014 was going to be the create a new me. Hi, I am jae..I joined the team because I really need to get moving. I have some mobility issues but I got to start somewhere. I have Osteoarthritis in my knees and If I don't get some of this weight off.. I will be unable to walk at all. I am going to start of slow and work my way up..

Hi, my name is Ronda. I'm a 56 year old retired/disabled teacher. I have MS with mobility issues. Joining a 10K step a day team is a MAJOR goal for me. My usual is 4-5,000 steps per day. I think the most I've clocked has been 7,000. But, I'm going to try. I saw the thread called Walk Across America. I thought that was really great. I've already registered for that site. Hi! Just found this team. I have lost about 20 lbs by walking over the last 2 months. Started at 5000 steps a day and just finished walking a 10K at Thanksgiving! I do at least 10,000 steps a day and try to follow the Weight Watchers plan of 26 points a day.

I live in Southern California and I'm closing in on 55 years old. I plateau(ed) at 113 lb weight loss a year ago so I'm happy with being able to lose weight again as I still have 50 to go. Most days I can still walk outside unless its raining or cold.

When I first joined Spark People back in January of this year and started to log my steps, my target was 5000 steps a day. Soon I was getting 8,000 and then this fall on most days I get anywhere between 10,000 and 14,000 so I thought it was time to join the team.

Some things that I've accomplished besides maximizing my number of steps is losing 25 pounds, 4 inches off my waist, going from zero sit-ups to 20 sit-ups and entering the normal range for BMI and body fat percentage.

Still a ways to go before I'll be satisfied though. Bring it on!

Hi. I'm returning to active on SP, because it makes a difference! This team looks like a fun and active one one to help me meet my goals and stay consistent. I've used pedometers for a few years now to both measure activity and to monitor from overdoing and triggering fibromyalgia flares. Three years ago 3-4k steps a day was a stubborn pain threshold limit. Despite a doctor telling me to 'learn to live with it' I refused to accept that outcome and within the last few months have started regularly in hitting 9ks with 10ks showing up more and more often. I know this team is open to anyone, but it means a lot to me to join in knowing I 'get' to strive for the name goal.

Hi, I am walking in central florida. 3 months ago I used a wheelchair for any distance at all, and had for almost 20 years. I have been working with a new pain specialist the last year, a great physical therapist the last few months, and working really hard myself. I started in the water and built from there. When I began I could not walk 1/8 mile. This week I walked my first 5k in distance. I also signed up to walk a 5k event on thanksgiving day. My original goal was to walk 5 k by my birthday in january, I am ahead of schedule. Right now I am averaging 7 thousand steps a day, and its a hard push when added to my water aerobics 4 times a week for 90 minutes. I would love to get to 10 thousand steps a day consistently. I have reached it 3 days this week, but I am also so sore I can barely move today. Bit by bit I am building up. My short walk days are now a mile, my long walk days are going to be 3 miles

Hi everyone,
I am attempting to walk 10,000 steps or more each day, some days are diamonds, some days are stone....I live on the northern beaches in Cairns, Australia. Walking around this magnificent place is so easy, I go to work each day and at times it is a sedate occupation so I need to make up the numbers after work. So far I have lost 5kg just walking & following the spark diet. Have a good day.

Hi everyone. I have been using the Sparker tracker for about 3 weeks now and am currently hitting between 8,000 & 9,000 steps a day. My goal is to be over 10,000 a day starting Nov 1. 1. Currently I hit those # by walking the dog on the days I don't work, since I am an RN I do a lot of walking during my shift so the days I do work I have not walked the dog. I live in Michigan so it will probably be getting pretty cold soon and I guess I will have to start going to the Y, but would rather be able to walk outside or ride my bike.

Hi, my name is Debbie. I live in west Texas. I have been using my pedometer for about a month, getting 5,000-7,000 steps in each day. I realized yesterday that the way to get to 10,000 is to just walk the dogs at the end of the day until I'm there. Pretty simple, right? Yesterday, I managed 10,300, and we'll see how I do today.
