Hello, Florida!
My hubby just retired from the military. He has some family here, and the rest of our families are a few hours away. We are currently staying with his family while he job hunts, and we house hunt. It is pretty difficult to workout and eat a certain way when you live with people.

Currently looking to move to Pensacola.

Hi. I am new to the panhandle. We are a military family moved here from NM. While we were stationed in Japan I lost 60lbs using Spark and reached my goal, but we got back to the states I got a job sitting at a desk all day and the weight crawled back on until I was back where I started. My goal atm is to loose the first 10lbs and go from there. Last time it took me a little over a year. We are in Panama City and I'm excited to get to work with and maybe get to meet some local folks. I have had a really hard time getting started but feel like now is the time to get back on it. Going to do my first day of couch to 5K tomorrow and work on adding more water to my diet. Baby steps I have to stop myself from going overboard or I won't hold out if I make all my changes at once.

Good to see this team here. I'm very new, started 1/23/14 in bad need to get my health under control. I live in Milton. In three months, my doc may add diabetic meds to my routine so it's a wake up call for me! I work hard at work, but when I'm home, I'm very sedentary and eat with stress. Hoping to make a good go of this journey and keep at it. I'd love to be able to walk long walks as I used to love years ago without getting out of breath. Small steps first, eat better, start some exercise..anything to get this body moving. My name is Debbie, or call me Deb.

I started with sparkpeople in Feb of 2009 did great and lost over 40 pounds. I had marriage issues, and gave it all up because I lost control of my emotions. Came back a year ago and thought I was ready, but I guess I wasn't. So here I am again to stand up and be counted as a struggling weight gaining fool. I could kick myself so many times for letting it all come back on. On the positive side I have over come another habbit and I am celebrating that. Feeling good about that. So now it's time to get real on the weight loss again; and starting to commit to exercise, when I really don't have any motivation to start. I thought Sparkpeople may fan the flame and kick me in gear.

If you continue to do what you have always done, you will continue to have what you have always had. If you do different you will have different!

Hi! I am Angela. I have been using Spark apps for the past year, but this summer I am returning to the SparkPeople page to get that extra focus to reach my goals. I am determined to lose 100lbs in one year. I know it's possible because 12 years ago I lost 150lbs, then I got very sick and over the years with depression and meds have gained 100lbs back. Now I have made up my mind and I am DETERMINED to get it off. I am limited in my physical abilities, but with prayer and hard work that too is getting a whole lot better!!!!!! I see that there are some people on here from Crestview, yay,so am I...I need walking partners or somebody that is experienced that can help me with some sort of exercises

Hello Everyone!

My name is Stacy Miller and I recently moved to this area in July 2013. I live in Crestview which I noticed that many of you are in the Pensacola area so you guys are my closest group besides people consider ths part of Florida the Panhandle too :-). I'm not new to Sparkpeople but this is really my first time reallly taking advantage of all the informaion/help they have to offer. Not to mention I've falling off the wagon of fitness a bit so I'm trying to get back in shape. I'm married with 2 beautiful girls (5yrs & 1 yr) and don't plan on having anymore so now is the time to get back to where I was prior to my babies and my hubby. Ultimately, I want to be live a healthier lifesytle but I want to look good too!

Oh, I see! I joined PAC because of the tennis courts and pool, but I am considering tacking on a membership over at Perdido Key Health Club since it's 24/7.

Pensacola Fit Club is part of the Meetup website. Basically, they provide free workouts from the P90X, Insanity, and Asylum programs. They also include a few other programs too, but those three are the main.

Hi everybody!

As you can see by my level 1 status, I'm new here. =)

My name is Sarah, and I live over in West Pensacola. I'm 25 years old and am attempting to lose a little weight and pick up a permanent, healthier lifestyle.

I'm always looking forward to meeting new people and finding new workout buddies so if you're looking for someone to work out with, I'm your gal!

I do have a membership at PAC. My usual workout is along the lines of 35 minutes treadmill (walk/run), 10-15 minute weights, and a usually sad attempt at calisthenics. I'm considering taking some yoga/pilates/zumba classes in the future. I just recently joined the Pensacola Fit Club to participate in some P90x, Insanity and Asylum workouts.

Hello everyone! My name is Larry and I live in Crestview (Crestucky to some) emoticon

Looks like I may be one of the few guys to join this group. Hope that I can stay and not get run off (lol). My current weight is 292 and if I could lose about 20-25% of that it would be ohh so nice. I've been in this area since 1996 (active duty AF at the time). Now retired military and working at Eglin. Originally from North Carolina but grew up in Southern California (San Fernando Valley). Been a member of Spark since Feb 2012 but unfortunately did a back-flip and fell off the wagon right after it started. Looks like I'm gonna be okay and I'm trying to get back on again but I gotta catch up to it first!!

Hey y'all! :)

I'm new again to SP - I lost 30 pounds 2 years ago and can't for the life of me find my old login. Never did lose the last 15 pounds, and now I've gained back 5, so here I am again.

I didn't really get past walking, which helped with the weight loss but didn't really help firm things up much. I started back on my Total Gym yesterday, and when I can move again (OW), I'm going to do a couch-to-5K. That'll be a stretch.

Hello, I've been on SP since March and just found this team page. I'm from Pensacola, born and raised and love it here! Hello, Fellow Panhandlers!

My name is Rebecca and I am working on Day 25 of being at Spark. So far I have lost 16lbs and kept it off! I am just now getting to where I am moving a lot more. I was so afraid of going out of my comfort zone but I am pushing myself to do it.

I have many goals and some of them are high. However, I know that I will reach them one step at a time.

I am currently a resident of Bonifay/Chipley Florida. I was originally in Port Saint Joe. I still consider PSJ my hometown since I graduated from there and I know many people who still live in such a beautiful area.

It's great to find a team close to home. I have lived in Gulf Breeze since 1960 and have seen it BLOOM. I am very active in bird watching and I am learning to enjoy cycling. I am new to SP since early September but well on my way to reach my first goal. I travel in sales so cooking for myself is not always easy.

Hi Carol and Roz, I ret. From the Navy (Navhosp Pensacola) in 2006 with MS and had to have steroids. I gained about 20 lbs and have never been able to lose it! I am a full time Realtor with Keller Williams and would like to lose the weight so that I can feel better and look good!

Hi ROZ! I know what you mean about struggling with nutrition. I'm fairly active, but if I don't keep my eating in check all the time...the scale doesn't move. But, I know the activity is good for my body...so I keep on movin'!

Hey! I'm Roz. I am in the Navy and am in Pensacola originally for school but had to have knee surgery and am here until I'm healthy again. I lost 50 lbs with SP before I went into the navy but since getting to pensacola and after my knee surgery I yoyo 10 lbs. Ideally I would like ot drop another 30-40. I'm really struggling right now keeping my nutrition in check. I'm getting back into running and hope to sign up for my first triathlon this fall.

I am so excited to find a team here at home. I am 53. I have some new health issues that have forced me to take a look at my condition. High blood pressure,cholesterol, low energy. That was some storm! We didn't lose power, but I know a lot of people did.

I've started circuit training again. Hoping to get the scale moving, but I know it wont happen unless I do a better job of controlling what I eat on the weekend.

Seems like the last 10 pounds is the hardest. Since I'm already pretty active with the work around here I'm thinking doing something different might get it moving again. Started the walk / jog think on the 5k but its harder then I thought. Walking and riding the bike comes easy. I would be happy just to be below 130 and hope it will come one day. Got to get out and pick up limbs from last night storm now. What a pretty sunny day after such nasty weather.

Hi everyone, I'm Susan and started the eating/ exercise program about 8 months ago. Went from over 150 down to 134 but I've sat here for about 3 months. Yes when I say sat I mean sat. Took about 3 months off from everything but did do weigh ins to make sure I didn't put it back on. Thankfully only regained about 2 lbs. Now starting again and doing the couch to 5k , counting the cal and drinking my water again. Seemed to just get away from all the fitness/ fun stuff but now ready to get these last 10 lbs off. Glad to find a local team and looking forward to meeting everyone. emoticon

Hi everyone. I've been on this website since 2007. I lost 40lbs the first time around, but gained it back after moving here to Pcola in 08.

I married a local guy in March of 09 and we had our first child last June. He was a micro preemie, born at 30 weeks weighing only 1 lb 12.9 oz. I believe part of the reason his growth restriction wasn't discovered until 30 weeks, was the extra weight I was carrying. I think it was hard to see my real fundal height with all of the fat on my stomach. I was already 212 lbs when I got pregnant. My husband and I really want to have more children soon, so I want to lose as much weight as possible and take my health more seriously this time. I would love to find a walking buddy from the west side of town who doesn't mind me taking my son along.

I found it was much easier to lose weight when I was single having a daily calorie range. This time around I think I need more structure. My husband has junk food in the cupboards and other temptations at my fingertips! When I was single I just didn't buy that stuff. Recently I started using a diet book with meal plans...seems to be helping me so far. Thanks for listening!

Just moved to Navarre in September, been on SP since January and just started again yesterday. I was off of SP for 3 months, gained weight back, stopped working out, went downhill! Anyway, time to get back into shape and eating healthy. SP helps keep me motivated!

Hi my name is Elizabeth-aka-Liz, and I live..guess where? Yep...Pensacola! I am legally blind so I can not drive and I am grossly obese. I would like to find people who live near NAS that would be willing to have me along to exercise and or walk with them.

It is apparent that weight loss is a long slow road to follow. But I will overcome all obsticles and I will achieve my weight loss goal. I have found a local SP group in my home town so am looking forward to meeting some work out buddies!! ;-)

Hello my name is Keke...I recently moved back to Pensacola after attending college and recieving my Bachelors Degree and I dread to say it in Exercise Science. Therefore, lossing the weight is very important not only for my health but career. I use to be a size 5 but due to the stress of being a full-time student and employee that weight just overwhelm me. Hello all! My name is Julie and brand new on here. My family and I relocated here from Colorado in 2005. Hoping to find support and motivation to lose 50# by next June (2011). I have boy-girl twins. They are 26 and both married. I remember the fighting days all too well! When my kids were small, it was hard for me to take the time to care for ME. I thought it was selfish. I regret that now. Squeeze those "me moments" in when you can!

Thanks Carol for the welcome! Yes it does get very busy with 4 kids. I have 14 year twin girls, though one of them lives with her dad because they fought so bad. I have a 4 year old little girl who is disabled. We have to drive her to New Orleans every 6-8 weeks for casting treatments. Then I have my baby boy who is almost 5 months. He was a big surprise! We thought we were through having kids..lol. But I'm glad to get my little boy out of it. They don't leave me alot of time for exercise and stuff, but I do my best to work it in.

Hi everyone! I'm Kim a 34 year old mom to 4 kids. I was born outside Birmingham, but have called Pensacola home for almost 15 years now. I love it here and being near the Blue Angels, but ready to move back home to Alabama when we can. In the mean time, I'm a stay at home mom who is back in school and set to graduate with a degree in Medical Billing and Coding in March of 2011. I've been on SparkPeople for well over a year now, but wasn't as active during my pregnancy. Now I need to lose about 100 lbs. and hoping to lose most of it before next May. Hi Everyone!

I joined a week or so ago but am just now introducing myself.

My "real" name is Paige; I'll be turning the dreaded 50 this month. In the past few years, the pounds have been gradually creeping on, which I'm not happy about. I'm working my way into a low sugar/low carb diet and hope that it will help me get rid of those sneaky pounds.

I'm looking forward to the mall walks. My husband and I went on one this summer and then, of course, I wussed out and begged to sleep in. However, I just can't handle the heat/humidity right now, but love wearing my Shape-Up sneakers to walk, so I'm just going to have to do it!

Hi! After 25 years away, I moved back to Florida to be closer to my sister and to help care for my mother who has dementia. I am working in Pensacola and live in Gulf Breeze so that my youngest boy could attend Gulf Breeze High School. It has been a crazy year, and I cannot believe it but my 1 year anniversary here is coming up July 15th, and I hardly know a soul outside work. That needs to change this year. I have been with Spark since March 2009, but did not get really active using the site until last winter. My progress has been very slow, but I was encouraged by the slowest loser team, and am close to breaking 160 for the first time in years. That will be a big woohoo. I do not like to "work out" but would much rather get my exercise playing a sport, hiking, or even using a calorie burning opportunity like mowing the yard. If I do go to the gym on a rainy day, I tend to choose aerobics over resistance training and really need to work on that. I would love to get together with real spark people in the area, or to just keep in touch via the spark site. I am really happy to be back in Florida, and to be part of the spark community.

I'm glad you're here! I really love living where the Blues practice! I live downtown and hear them every Tuesday and Wednesday -- I never get tired of it! It's great to be walking on those mornings and look up and see them! I usually go watch practice at least a couple of times each summer with my son and when relatives come to town.

Hi, my name is Ruthie. I found the site by trying to find another site a friend of mine told me about. I am hoping it will help me stay on track and get past the 200 mark. I used to be 265 and have been up and down alot. I am now diabetic with high blood pressure and chol. More physcal problems then a 46 year old ought to have. hmm, I used to go walking at PJC track but stopped when they closed up shop to rebuild and have not been back. No one to go walking with.

Well, hello! I "stumbled" across this team while reading the thread to see where everyone is from (which I loved to see)! I'm excited there is a Team for Pensacola. My daughter is at FSU, and she got me started with Spark about a week ago. Anyway, I'm a lifelong resident of Pensacola. My goal is to TONE UP and lose about 40 pounds so I can be more comfortable kayaking and hiking (went on a hike at Eglin yesterday -- absolutely awesome!) and just feel better overall.

I hope that you don't mind if I join your team. I am a lifelong resident of Indiana but visit Pensacola every year for the last two years. My boyfriend is from Florida. He grew up in Ft. Lauderdale and Pensacola. His mom, sister, and some of his neices live in Pensacola. We will be visiting twice this year I think now. I will be there during spring break and once in June. His mom has been diagnosed with lung cancer and maybe more. I love being there and wish I could move there. But job and kids prevail for now.

Hopefully I can join your team and learn more about this lovely city and maybe meet some of you on our yearly trips.

I am a mother of four and with my boyfriends daughter we have a family of 7. We keep pretty busy with work and school. Our oldest is 13 and the youngest just turned 4. So usually not a dull moment going on in our household. We don't have too many school activities going on because of my work schedule. I work for the railroad and have not had a consistent schedule for almost 9 1/12 years. (Keeps you on your toes) :)

I love to auto cross, karaoke, read, and dance. Don't get alot of free time but that is ok.

This is a little about me and I am looking forward to getting to know you guys.

Hey there. My name is Brandy. Proud wife and mom of one. :) This is my third time living in Pensacola and we move once again around August/September. I start at PJC in January and for now I'm a housewife since our little one started Kindergarten this year. Just here to lose a bunch of unwanted weight.
