My name is Karen, i'm 28 years old with a beautiful daughter and an amazing Fiance. I had tried to lose weight before and got down to 223 but I gained 20 lbs back when I plateaued and got discouraged. I have realized now that plateauing is completely normal and a lot of people experience it and that you should just stick with the plan until it passes. When I started to work out a couple years ago I was at 256. This time I started out at 238 and am already down to 231. I am determined to stick with it this time and have even got myself a motivational bikini for when I reach my goal. :)

Hello! My name is Danielle and I am 32 years old. I have two children and I am getting married in August 2014. I am new to Spark People and wanted to see what it was about and what it could do for me. I have been using myfitnesspal for the past 55 days since I started working out at the gym, watching my portions and drinking more water. I recently purchased a Fitbit One and the Aria scale and I love them so far! I have lost 11.1 pounds so far! My goal is to be at 140 pounds by March 1, 2015! I have 65 more pounds! Some days are hard but I am motivated to get there I just have to keep at it!

I'm a stay-at-home mom of an almost 3 year old little boy who has definitely earned the nickname "destruct-o-tot" with anything made of paper or cardboard (luckily that's all he destroys). The pregnancy went rather well and afterwards I lost the baby weight almost immediately. However, I suffered from extensive baby blues, hardly left bed even on a good day, and ended up gaining it all back and then some. I didn't run to food, luckily, so increasing my activity should be all I need.

In December 2013, I said enough is enough and started working towards getting back to under 200 and perhaps even less than that. With my little guy acting more and more independent, I have a bit more time to work on weight loss. I've lost almost 8 pounds so far (based on my January 1st weigh in), but need to lose another 59 pounds to hit my first goal.

Hello everyone.

I am a mother of 3 lovely kids who has been unable to take off the weight after my last child - 5 years and counting. I have watched my weight creep up and up and decided to come back to Spark people after a 3 year absence. I lost 50 lbs with Spark after my second pregnancy, so I know it can work.

I just recently found I was gluten intolerant and am on an elimination diet to see if I have any other food issues. It has been hard changing my entire diet, but I am now eating so much healthier and feeling so much better. Whole grains and fresh veges and fruit are so much better than chips or crackers!!! I am also exploring all those interesting legumes and grains I have never tried before... :)

Hope to be on here at least twice a week to read everyone's posts.

Hi, I am trying to properly commit to sensible eating patterns so that I can get to a healthier weight. Hello, My name is Jessica and am from Montana. I am 21 years old and got married 5 short months ago. I have 60 pounds to lose..

2 years ago I weighed 227 and joined weight watchers group and got down to 195. I then moved to a town where there aren't any groups so I tried doing it online for 4 months with no success, I gave up.

Fast forward to now. I am now back up to 220 pounds. I feel disgusting being naked in front of my husband which I am sure bothers the heck out of him because he loves the way I look. I just want to be able to like the way I look let alone love it.. I can't even look at myself in mirrors without being disgusted. I joined SP a few months ago and did great for 2 months sticking to my calorie range and exercising 4 days a week. I lost 0 pounds. Lost motivation and gave up for about a month.

I am now back because I am sick of feeling sorry for myself. I am in a walking boot until the end of December so I can do little exercise but I can work on my eating.

I am determined to like myself and my body.

I hope this group helps...

Hi everyone! I just joined this team and thought I would introduce myself.

I am 35 y/o, married, with no kids or pets. I currently work 4 days a week in an office (snack fest!) and am not much more active during my spare time! I want to reach my goal by next September when hubby and I are returning to Lake Garda (not the holiday on my ticker).

You sound like me (not just me) I have been on a diet since I was 19years old and 197 lbs. and after losing 30.6 lbs this summer I am sitting at 287!
You are right you have to change something but its not which diet you are on or how many pounds you can lose on a weekly basis, it's what you expect. If you expect yourself to fail you will fail, so expect yourself to be successful and you will. I know, you think I am nuts but try this.
Write down everything you put in your mouth, I mean everything. If you eat 2ounces of cheddar cheese plus that little bit you popped in your mouth because it was too small to grate then write down 2ounces plus one bite of cheddar. Every bite, lick and taste has to be written down and within a few days you'll already be making progress.
Good Luck. I know you can do it.

Hi my name is Jenn and I'm 31 years old and I weigh 209. I have about 60 lbs to lose. I would like to get to 165lbs by my birthday in November but my ultimate goal is to 145 by the time my best friend gets married in April of 2014.
I'm currently working out 6 days a week and I try to keep my calories under 1300. However, my biggest struggle is the weekend. Hi Everyone!

My name is Jen. I am 31 years old and weigh roughly 227. I need to lose some serious weight especially because I made the smoothest move by ordering my wedding gown a size 14 when I should have gotten size 16W, yeah smooth as in dumb! BUT I don't want to get married looking the way I do. I am getting married May 2014! I have held off my engagement photos because I don't want to take them while I look like this so hopefully by September I will feel better and look better! Not my goal weight but you all know what I mean right?

I am a yoyo dieter and I need to just STOP and be realistic on my weight loss journey and do it the right way, so I joined SPARKPEOPLE! I started today and hope this works out. I have tried EVERY diet and joined almost all weight loss centers out there, I think this is my best bet! I am also starting the Jillian Michael's Body Revolution workouts so wish me luck! :)

Hello Vicki, I'm 59 year of age and will be 60 this year. I have 74 pounds to lose to help my health. I had open heart surgery 1 year age and this year was told I have diabetes. I have three grow children and one grandchild that is going to be 6 in July. My husband and I are raising him. It is hard because we are so old and I have a hard time keeping up with him do to my health and weight. Hi everybody! My name is Tina, I'm 24 and weigh 190. For my height I should be losing more than 50 lbs, but any weight loss would be great at this point. I used to be more fit, but through the stressful years I've put on a lot of weight (almost 20 lbs in a year!!)

I am 26 and I am 193lbs and want to lose a few lbs before my birthday on June 25th. My overall goal is 50lbs to get to a healthy weight for my height. I was not always over weight so I know what weight fits me best for healthy living. I am a yoyo dieter/exerciser and can lose 20lbs in a month and then gain it back in a few weeks, my problem is staying motivated. Hi Kathy! I'm Sharon, and I've been here for a long time, I also HAD 73 pounds to lose. I have been on again off again. I started again on January 20th and so far am down 18 lbs. 55 pounds left to go. I know one thing that has really helped me stick with it for the past 2 months is coming here every single day and adding my food, exercise, and water intake. I also have the app on my phone, so I read inspirational articles on my breaks at work. Reading success stories really helps. I have gone from a size 16 to a size 12. I never expected to see size 12 again. Good luck on your journey, and welcome.

Hi my name is Kathy. I just started 5 days ago as a member. I am hoping (praying, fingers crossed, legs crossed etc....) to lose about 73 lbs. I dont care how long it takes as long as I do it regularyly. Not 1 lb every 3 to 4 weeks. I have been stuck at the same weight for 3 weeks now and it is very frustrating. I've been a member here for a long time, but haven't been active for quite a while. Finally started to get my act together and make some genuine lifestyle changes. As of this morning, I weighed in at 260, down from 307 (my worst), back in September (2012). I am still trying to lose about 45-60 more. I don't really care how long it takes, as long as the nunber keeps going down. :-) All I can say at this point is that it's hard work...But, for me it came down to finally making the mental decision to do it, and not get caught up in getting mad at myself or making excuses to myself. It was time for me to get it done. I turn 46 next month and I've been trying to do this since before I turned 40. So, I guess it's never too late. Hi, I'm Eos. I've been around on SP for a while but I've finally started to really settle into a good routine of exercise and eating habits, though I'm still working on it. I have a goal of losing around 80 pounds. So far this year I've lost a total of 6.

I don't want life to be roses without thorns. Just give me the darn thorns and let me live!

Hello! I joined this group because I have found that message boards are extremely helpful and full of positive attitudes and great advice. I am trying to lose about 95 pounds. I never had a weight problem but a husband and 3 kids later...I find myself at my highest weight...and it must come off. I have a plan to start on January 2, 2012 with a 24 hour detox.

Hi Everyone,

I'm Stacy and my goals include losing 61 pounds. I've been working on it for a few weeks and I've lost 2 pounds (well, actually I had lost 6 pounds but then some family get-togethers occurred.) My ticker shows zero pounds lost because I am new to SP.

I'm from SW Oregon, where it rains a lot in the winter and spring. I enjoy walking my dog and I am trying to develop a love for indoor gym activities to do when it rains. I look forward to getting to know you and to making new acquaintances.

hi my name Viola and i am very over weight.. when i started to diet i was 280 lbs.. when joined sparkpeople i was 276 and i have lost some weight.. i am working hard at it.. I do zumba at least 5 times a week and i walk a mile or more everyday. I am just looking for some support and new friends to help me reach my goal!!! emoticon

Hello to All...

I wouldn't say that I am new, but I am finally taking advantage of the website now, more than I have in the past. I am currently 243 lbs with a goal of 72 lbs to lose by April. On this quest to get back to the me I used to be and looking to maintain it once I get there. I know this journey won't be the easiest but having Sparkpeople.com is helping me be quite optimistic...and it doesn't hurt that I've already shed a couple of pounds due to the Spark meal plan :-)
