Hi everyone. Obviously I'm new to this team so I thought I would say hi! I live in Nebraska and it is not very easy being green around here, but my family does what it can. We rent a house so we are pretty limited as to what we can change or add. Some of the things that we do:
Make our own shopping bags out of t-shirts
Make our own cat littler out of baking soda and newspaper
Make our own deodorant
We don't use laundry soap, but a ball instead
Line dry our clothing in the summer (working on finding a place to put an indoor rack for winter)
Buy local and organic and cook what we can from scratch
We recycle and even use some of our trash to make things. For example we make necklaces out of cardboard boxes
We took the compact pledge this past summer
This spring, we will be starting a compost pile and garden in the yard.
I am getting married in 2012, and I have been using sites such as recycledbride.com (found my dress for $60!!!!) for many of the wedding decor.
I look forward to getting to know you guys and read any green tips you may have that I can borrow :)
