I just now joined and went to the Team Goals. I use reusable shopping bags most of the time, but my kitchen trash "container" (it's attached to the inside of a cabinet door under the sink) uses shopping bags with the handles. None of the store bought bags I've tried fit it right. I would have to go to The Container Store, where I bought it, to buy the bags that do fit... which seems silly. So I need them. Now DC, where I live, charges 5 cents a bag. OK I understand why (it is a top pollutant in the Anacostia River among other things...). Fortunately, I do much of my shopping in MD where I work (including a My Organic Market which is a GREAT store- want to get a job at one...). At the Safeway they collect bags... I've always wanted to dig in there and grab some, but I am self conscience and worried there might be gross stuff in there as well. Once at at a store I while I was using my reusables, I had to ask for some plastic ones on the side (at least "fresh" I know they don't have holes) So it's a dilemma. I don't create as much trash as I used to (wish I could compost - apt too small) so I don't need that many. Anyway, just my thoughts and my reason for not joining that team goal.
Also, work 35 miles from home, yuck! I hate the commute and the job! I do get great gas mileage 35-39 mpg (I have a Honda Fit) as long as I leave for work in time and can drive 50-55 instead of 70... that is when I'm not stuck in traffic...
