I applaud you for making the decision to turn your life around and do something you have a passion for! I'm also 31 and I do love my current job, but I have been thinking about whether or not it's something I want to spend the rest of my life doing. Good luck in all that you do and I'm sure you will be successful!

Right on congrats. My BS is in Wildlife Biology... check to the Wildlife Society for stats on the new job market. When you are in the major definitely look at SCEP opportunities with federal agencies if that is the route you are looking to go.

Also consider reading the ECO Guide to Environmental Careers that Make a Difference.

As for your health... good luck on your journey. My wildlife program had me hiking all over the place. This transition point in your life is a great place to address your health.

Well I don't know about inspiration, but thanks. :-) I worry about what type of job will suit me, or even more importantly--be available--when I get my diploma. I realize whatever I do find will be entry level, which is scary at age 31--but I just went through an epiphany about how short life is, and I really don't care. Nothing is worth wasting your precious time on--you have to do something that makes you happy and makes your life rewarding, or guarantees you time with those who are important.

Good luck! I, myself, am considering to take some classes to change the path my life is going now. You are (maybe you did not mean to be) an inspiration...

Hello all! I was recently laid off from my job in the mortgage sector which I held for nine years, and I'm tired of doing something I hated with a passion. I'm taking online classes now for a Wildlife/Forestry Conservation Diploma. I'm not sure what type of job it will help me land, but I'm excited to learn about things I've always wanted to be a part of.

So with all these little forest adventures I'm doing for my course work, I could use a healthy body. I joined Spark back in January, but shortly after I found out I was going to be losing my job. Then I had a personal tragedy, which I'm beginning to pick myself up from and I could use the healthy body to help me deal with it.

Looking forward to hikes and healthy eating!
