Welcome Rebeccah , I too like you am a type 2 diabetic have high blood pressure and over 100lbs to loose. I have lost with spark people 31 lbs it's a slow go for me too. I seem to do well while I am at work and then when I get home it's like I shove food in my mouth. It is a never ending battle. I know that I will win this one though. Lately I have been learning to eat more vegetables and fruit to make my meal stretch. I have my daughter and 3 grandchildren living with me so it is always a struggle with chips and pizza around me. Now I am learning that if I want pizza it's ok just eat only 1 piece and eat a large salad with a healthy dressing or add a lot of vegetables as my side to fill me. I try and reach for fruit or even make a smoothie with no fat milk and just a little splenda if needed. I have found 2 websites that are very good one is called http://.hungrygirl.com and the other one is http://laaloosh.com You can even search sparkpeople just put in hungrygirl or laaloosh and it should bring up there recipes You Can Do This.
Choice is a gift given to everyone. It is a powerful gift that can change your life. I choose to eat healthy.
Rebeccah, Glad you joined the team. As Cricket251 said, take it one day at a time. Ask questions, some one sould be able to help you. We DON'T judge. We're all in the same boat so to speak. I've got over 100 lbs to lose. It's very slow for me. My problem is I let stress at work get to me at work, then go home an pig out, not everyday but enough to make my progress slow. Maybe you've got a suggestion for me. I'm open to all suggestions. I'd gladly be your friend, just except me. We can do this. I want to be around to see my granddaughter grow up. Good Luck on your journey to a thinner and healthier you. Keep in touch.
Rebeccah, First welcome to the team and to SP! You have come to the right place to 'find yourself'! This is a place where you can bare it all and no one will judge you. You will get the friendship and support you need. First just take a deep breath & don't be overwhelmed by the big picture. Take it one pound at a time, one day at a time. Opening up & putting your feelings out there was your first step! The next is to track your food, exercise and check in here daily. This works. We are all on this journey together, you are not alone! Keep in touch!
There is a song on a show that my Grand Kids watch and I think it applies : "Keep trying, keep trying, don't give up, never give up" I intend to keep trying and I will never give up till I reach my goal!
Nothing happens overnight. Remember one pound lost is one pound closer to your goal.
Get up every morning, take a deep breath & make it the best day that you possibly can.
With you all in spirit everyday.....Gery
Welcome, great place for resources and super people here on the forums. We can do it.

Hi, I am ? What and who I am I am not sure of anymore. What I am sure of is that I am very fat and have high blood pressure and type 2 diabetes. My kids are grown and I am a little lost as to what I am supposed to do for the rest of my life. Wow! I am really sounding kinda sad. I have never joined a group online before. I just feel that if I am going to do this I need to be honest. Maybe someone else out there feels lost too. I know that I have to be real about everything if I am ever going to get a handle on my health. I am looking for advice, from those who have gone before me, those who are walking the walk now and maybe I will make a friend or two along the way. Thank you for letting me share. R
