okay this is just a guess because i'm no professional. but i've read and read and read. (my foot's been broken for 11 weeks! so i'm on the computer alot---soon to change i hope!) anyhow, i've read that you really shouldn't eat below your bmr, or rmr (resting metabolic rate). now there is a formula out there that you need to find and figure it out. but eating below your rmr can mess up your metabolism. you really should, at the minimum, eat your rmr. mine is 1307. that's just the live daily, like (God forbid), if i were in a coma, i'd need 1307 calories per day to not gain any weight. and if you eat your rmr and THEN exercise daily, you MAY gain weight at first, but it should start to come off and the stabilize your metabolism. again, i'm not a pro by any means, but it's something to try. ceratinly can't hurt! good luck. to all of us. :-)

I will be 55 next month and it feels like my metabolism is stuck. I have been working out (over 30 minutes walking and weights) and only eating about 1200 calories a day. I am eating very healthy no pop or juice. Why won't it go down?

just want to say hello and introduce myself. i will be turning 50 in a couple of weeks. i've struggled with my metabolism continuously slowing down (30, 40, 45, and here comes 50). i've never really started eating more, just can't eat as much anymore. like i don't need that much food....tried various ways to lose weight and found calorie counting is the best. add in there some toning and exercsing, and i'm good to go. my struggle is motivation and keeping at it. i lose momentum when the scale doesn't budge, and then get uninspired. i'm anxious to take off 20-30 pounds and keep it off for life at this point. i'm tired of the back and forth. i'll need motivation, inspiration, encouragement, and lots of prayer! thank you! nice to meet you!

Weight loss is accomplished with the mind.

A person who wants something WILL find a way....a person who doesn't will find an excuse.

Which do you prefer?
The pain of self discipline?....or...the pain of self regret?
