I like to do 10 mins. of walking in place a couple of times a day. This is so easy to do and fit in in. You can do this in front of the t.v. You start out at a steady pace for 2 mins. 1 min walking faster extending one arm at a time in the air, then 1 min of walking lunges, then 2 mins. of fast pace walk, then 1 min. of high step walking, (knees up) then 2 mins. of punching in the air walking and 1 min of cool down walking. Goes so fast and then you can do it later. I love it and you don't have to go outside when its cold.

I'm finally coming to love exercise. I hate to miss a day ... but it wasn't always that way!! I started out with a quarter of a mile years ago and thought I would die. Today I'm walking about 5 miles a day and absolutely loving it. All the best!

I am definitely in your boat, Monica. I have never been much of an exerciser and my appetite has not decreased with age, at least not yet and I will be 69 in a few days. My favorite way to get exercise is on the stationary bike, although I must admit I have not been on it in a while. Back, leg, and foot problems have kept me inactive for the last several months. One of these days I will do more than just think about getting on the bike.

HI LTINDOCEAN,
Trust me I know it's hard to cook two different types of meals...I found that if you fix an extra veg and don't eat the potato or pasta (unless you are fixing mac and cheese or spaghetti for supper) I can do OK...
Good luck and let me know if you find something else that works, I need the help too...

HI MONICA32091,
Yes I do...
My job, such as it is, is sitting on my duff 3 to 4 days a week...there is a video on Spark that is chair exercises and it is pretty darn good but I can't find it again...if you or anyone else finds it will you share...
My only help, other than above, is drink...drink...and drink some more...
Lyn

I do believe that strength training is key as we get older. Now I just need to heed my own advice because I am a cardio lover!!!

I have found that I have to add weights or more intense exercise then walking, housework, mowing and gardening. weights on an exercise ball work for me. Taking my 11 year old grandchild to family zumba classes works too. Family zumbia has people of all ages doing their thing. Us seniors group in one corner of the back and change everything to low impact. The young teens group in another corner and improvise. The instructor makes her rounds dancing with each group the way they dance. Even the toddlers that jump next to mommy.

me too! I just love food. Most of my friends eat because they have to and are always dieting. I live with a real meat lover who loves traditional confort food not pretty food so it's so hard to make different food just for me.

I am not phyically active, and need to lose weight but my appetite has not dwindled with age. I do rake leaves and tend a garden. No running or cycling. Is there anyone else in my boat?
