Hi and to the team. You and your father have been through a lot in the last year or two and your depression is understandable. Glad to hear that your father's health has improved and now it is time to work on your own. Losing some weight and feeling better about yourself may help boost your attitude. It is certainly worth a try.
Hi there, I'm 52 years old and recently joined Sparkpeople because I am out of control with my eating. I'm the heaviest I've ever been in my life at 160 pounds. My mom passed away on December 14, 2011, and since then my eating has spiraled completely out of control and I have gained at least 12 pounds. I work a full time job and go to school in the evenings because I lost my job of 23 years 2 years ago. So I'm studying to become a medical secretary. I have worked in a school cafeteria since my children were small. I'm really trying to get my life back together and lose the weight I gained plus about 15 more pounds. I struggle with depression, more since my mom passed. The end of 2011 and 2012 have been a very hard time for our family - the evening my mom was buried a cousin was killed in a car accident and then 2 months later this cousins grandpa (my great Uncle) died. Two weeks after mom was buried (she died of cancer - 5 & 1/2 week battle) my dad found out he had prostate cancer. So within 2 months we had so much tragic news and we struggled so much. My dad is doing really good health wise, the grieving area he's still struggling very much. I just wanted to introduce myself to everyone.
