I like you found myself at a weight that was way over what I should be. I found this sight over a year ago but didn't start using it till after health issues caused me to really get serious about losing weight and living a healthier lifestyle. Yes and it is all free and the fellow Spark People are so willing to give you help and encouragement. So keep on sparking.

Thank-you all for sharing your trials and triumphs - giving me courage to post. I have been thin for most of my life until my metabolism started going "backwards"...ummm... a few years ago.... Consequently I have recently struggled with weight loss but now acknowledge it can't be done 'over the weekend'. For about five years I have watched the weight creep on and creep up and now I am almost 50 lbs over my former high-water-mark. I don't know how it happened...weight never 'stuck' to me before but now it seems I can't find a way to get it off. I tried a lot of fad diets and I like the no-nonsense calorie counting and exercise - yeah back to basics - fits my New England personality. So today is Day 1 and I've had lots to look at and read at the Spark People website - which amazingly is F R E E - wow really? I must be in the right place OR dreaming.
