I used to live just north of Rapid River on 320 acres on Whitefish River. It was just so beautiful!

I live in Central - south. Rapid River area. Today it is quite warm, 30 degrees and I am going to go for a walk. The roads are pretty clear. Get out side and "get the stink blown out' as my mom used to say. I like it up in the UP but the season for nice weather is 1 month shorter on each end than what I was brought up in.

Good news, Sue. Keep up the good work. An A1c of 5.5 is great! Mine was 6.8 this time.

I in the U.P., too, over in the west end. Where are you? I miss being able to walk every day; our roads here in White Pine are always snow-covered and icy. I'm trying to get into my elliptical. I'm dealing with the same menopause issues - fun.

Most of the snow we got Christmas Day night is almost gone. Possible freezing rain late tonight through tomorrow morning. Would much rather have the snow. Got good news from the dr today. I have been working hard on losing weight and trying to lower my risk of becoming a diabetic. My A1C has been 5.7 and this time I dropped it to 5.5 which is in the normal range!! I was very excited about it. Will keep doing what I have been doing. Now to try to get my cholesterol down without having to take meds. Hope everyone had a Merry Christmas and hope you have a wonderful, sparktacular New Year.

Hello all.....Snowing here again today. We had snow yesterday and it got very slippery. There were more than 30 accidents locally in the span of a few short hours. We almost had an accident ourselves while going to our foot doctor appointment. We slid through a stop sign with oncoming traffic but. fortunately, hubby was able to turn the wheel and get quickly off the side of the road. The foot doctor appointment went well. Seems all of my foot problems are due to genetics. My body produces too much uric acid which causes gout.. It seems I have my Dad to thank for it as he suffered from it as well.
Stay warm and safe.

Hi everyone ... losing weight is a battle! There is temptation everywhere it seems, and yet we can encourage each other to keep pressing on. Forget what is past, and renew the will to live healthy, and use the tools SP gives us. I find tracking food and exercise plus other goals so very beneficial. I love seeing the spark points adding up and the trophies starting to come my way. I like the way they let you view your nutrition for the day so changes can be made for the next day. I like taking their quizzes because I'm finding I do not know as much as I thought I did. Best wishes to all as we continue together this weight-loss journey we are on.

Hey Teacher. Good luck with the surgery. It seems way too easy for the weight to come back on and way too hard to get rid of it. Today, my lunch and dinner is packed and reasonable and healthy. I just need to stay on plan and not eat the goodies that lurk around house and office.

Merry Christmas from the Lower Peninsula! Had a great Christmas with my family. I ate way too much now for several days. I know I gained back some weight, I didn't even weigh myself this week :( Anyway tomorrow I get back on track. I have hand surgery in the morning, so no exercise, but I plan on eating corrctly.

Merry Christmas to everyone. Today is a quiet day, just me and my husband. Family all lives far away.Phone calls have to do. Making roast beef, baked potatoes and veggies for dinner. NO dessert, which is unusual. I have to get back on track. I worked out hard, put meaning in to it. I love my life, I need to love myself. I pray for strength to get the discipline back and lose all the weight that is on goal. I feel great at 155#- but will settle for 170 right now.

Well, the holiday season of over indulgence is rearing its ugly head. Guess it is habit over common sense. Have been enjoying a few of the special treats that are screaming my name. I am working on turning the volume down and not listening to them. Have gained about a pound and don't want to continue that pattern. It will only get me in trouble once again. Any suggestions on how to quiet the hungry and tempting voices would be appreciated.

Hi, Reen. Welcome to the team. I have many of the same issues you have and a bit more to lose. You have a bonus, the incentive to lose weight for your stepdaughter's wedding. I suggest you make photocopies of the wedding invitation and post them in areas of temptation (like the refrigerator or kitchen cupboards). These will serve as reminders to help you stay focused on your goal.

I have some of those issues to, so I've just been taking it one day at a time and deciding that I'm living the rest of my life like this, so it really doesn't matter how long it takes me. I'm here for the duration.
Glad you've joined us!

Hi, my name is Reen. I am 54.5 years of age with a few (30#) to lose. I have lost 15, gained back 3 and losing my discipline. I have been on Spark since spring. I have a few things against my with menopause, low thyroid, and multiple auto immune issues, but I still exercise 4-5 days a week and TRY to eat right most of the time. Cave in to stress eating and sweets. I am a nurse and job can be a bit stressful most days. Stepdaughter is getting married in Aug and I want to look a bit better in a dress. GOAL
