The vast amount of information, tools, people, groups and so on can be overwhelming at the start. Just take small steps to begin with. Take your time to find out what's available here and which parts of it work best for you. The thing most people find useful is the food tracker. It was a real eye opener for me! I had no idea how bad some of my food choices were until I started using that.
Keep posting your thoughts or questions. There are some wonderful people here who will help and support what you are doing. Ultimately of course - and you know this anyway - it's up to you to stick at it. Every day you are either building your health or not.

You get out of it what you put into it. It took years for most of us to put on our excess baggage so we need to give it time and effort to change the scales. It really does work if you are willing to work for it.

Giving God the glory each day for the all the bounty in my life
Hi, I've read about Spark People and thought I would give this a try. I had a full hysterectomy in April 2011 and have gained 30 pounds. I've never weighed this much in my life. I can't stick with anything that is very restrictive. I'm weak and I aint' afraid to admit it. So I'm trying to find something that is doable. Baby steps. How do I get started? Any and all advise is appreciated.
