The secret is to make permanent healthy changes in your life, eating the right foods in the proper portions, getting enough sleep and exercise, drinking enough water, reducing stress, etc. They don't need to be BIG changes but they do need to be permanent. These changes will not only benefit you, but your entire family as well.

Patience, practice, praise. I don't think there's a fast way to lose that will keep the weight off for the rest of your life. I joined SP at the end of July. I thought I ate healthy. I just had a portion control problem, and I ate out too much. Wow. I can't believe how much I have learned. There were several unexpected behavior changes I had to make. Washing dishes...In the beginning I was a little overwhelmed with how often I needed to run the dishwasher and hand wash pots and pans. (Duh. If you're eating at home, the dishes are going to get dirty.) Once I realized a big reason I wanted to eat out was because I didn't want to clean up the kitchen, the adjustment was easier. It wasn't that I really wanted Arby's. I didn't want to clean up the kitchen. I had to have a pretty stern talk with myself. "This is a lifelong change. You're going to have to wash dishes everyday the rest of your life. What a blessing to be able to wash dishes...." And finally, "Grow up! Wash the dishes!" There have been several behaviors/attitudes like that. I wish I could tell you I have mastered them all, but I'd be lying.
Insanity is doing the same thing over and over again, and expecting different results.
