THIS WORKS. WENT ON WEEKS CRUISE DID NOT GAIN A POUND.

my sister walks 15,000 steps a day at 63 years old and has lost 105 pounds. she went from a size 24 to a size 10. all her health issues dropped off as the 105 pounds dropped off.

i gave up grain and sugary products and have lost 44 pounds at age 60. i went from a size 18 to a size 10 shorts and medium tops from a 1 or 2x.

we are both still loosing weight until we reach our goal

Hi, Judie - I really like the cookbook - it has some very good information and success stories in it, as well as recipes. My only regret is that I bought the Kindle version. I would recommend getting the regular book because it would be easier to find things, use recipes in the kitchen, etc. I will probably buy the regular book myself in the near future for that reason.

Carol, thanks for the great message!!!! And how do you like the cookbook. I am just like you. Tried every program, high priced diets and have a zillion cookbooks(which I do collect) with at least 40% of them diet, fat free, carb free, taste free, and I'm still not 30 lbs free!!
Hope you keep in touch and I am trying to navigate this web site as there is so much info here.
I am tracking what I can so far. Thanks for the encouragement. Judie

Hi, to both of you so glad you both decided to join the team! emoticon

As a veteran of several high-priced weight loss program, every fad diet known to man and as a woman with 5 shelves of diet books, here is my best advice - not complicated and it works: 1) Use your Nutrition Tracker faithfully, every single day, and print out the daily report on that page so you can make sure you are getting the proper balance of fats, carbs, and protein. This will keep you honest and accountable for your choices. Checking your report each day is critical - you want to make sure you are getting the right % of nutrients and not just eating empty calories. Remember, it is possible to stay within your calorie range eating "junk" but that isn't going to promote weight loss and it certainly won't maintain it in the long run emoticon ; 2) Find a few exercises/activities you actually ENJOY doing and then do them 3-4X a week. If you like what you are doing the chances are much better that you will stick with it emoticon ; 3) Stay active with your Team(s) because this is the place you will get encouragement, motivation, and support - including hugs on those days when things are especially tough! emoticon and; 4) Try to have fun with this journey to slimness and better health! It's a given that if you enjoy something you will stick with it! emoticon

One last thought: it isn't important how fast or slowly you lose your weight. This is one area where 'slow and steady wins the race' is more then just some old cliche emoticon . Spark teaches you a new lifestyle and you need time to re-educate yourself and develop a new relationship with food emoticon .

emoticon Hi and emoticon to the team. the trouble with diets is that they don't teach us to make small, permanent changes to our lifestyle so that we are able to maintain our weight loss. They also do not teach us how to handle the stress. SparkPeople can teach us both those things and that is why it is so successful, but as already said, we only get out of this program what we put into it. emoticon

Thank you for your input. I have been dieting on my own since February and lost 35 lbs. It's been a long time coming off. I found that I was not eating enough and my body was going in to starvation mode and storing fat. Yikes, what's a person to do? Well I think I found out. I found SparkPeople a couple days ago and believe this is going to be a big help. I'm still trying to learn how to use this website. There's a lot to it. Once I learn how to get the right amount of calories and nutrients then I will feel like I've accomplished something. I will have to ask someone if I need to drink six to eight glasses of water since I don't and never have sweated. Keep me posted on your progress. Hope to hear from you again.

I have found great success using this program. Like any program you get out what you put in. The nutrition tracker and the activity tracker are the basis for success. The secret to successfully losing weight is making a lifestyle change. It is a permanent thing. This is not a "diet" Those don't work. When you measure all your food you will begin eating normal portions. The weight will come off. Even people with sluggish thyroids ( I am one) find success with this program emoticon emoticon

Hi everyone. I am a mother of 4, grandmother of 8 and great grandmother . I was diagnosed with Fibromyalgia 10 yrs ago and gained a good amount of weight from medications. Over the years I have tried most all the programs including weight watchers, jenny craig (which cost a small fortune) nutrisystems, numerous on-line programs and have lost some weight but gain it back when I hit a stressful period. So, I am going to try this program as I have read a lot about it . Would love to hear from anyone else who finds this to be a positive and successful program. Thanks.Peace always!!
