Hi, Jan, and welcome to Spark and the Team! I have been on and off Spark for years - finally came back in May with a new and improved attitude and a whole bunch of determination to reach my goals this time. I was also very overwhelmed when I first started on Spark years ago because this web site is loaded with great information and tools to help us reach our own individual goals. This is not a "One Size Fits All Diet" - it is your plan and it is a lifestyle change, not a diet. You will learn to navigate around the site and use those features that you choose to use. Mennoly gave you some good links to help you, and you can also just investigate by poking around and checking things out. That's what I did and believe me, you won't blow up anything if you click on the wrong thing The best advice I can offer you is to: 1) use your Nutrition Tracker every single day, faithfully, because it will keep you honest and accountable for your food choices and the portions you eat; 2) find a few exercises/activities you truly ENJOY doing and then do them 3-4X a week, every week. If you like what you are doing, you will stick with it, and remember you don't have to do 45 min. of exerise all at once. You can break it into manageable increments throughout the day!; 3) stay active with your Spark Teams because they will provide the encouragement, support, and motivation you need along the way; and, 4) try to have some fun and enjoy this journey! If you make it fun, you will stay strong and
This team is great - no one will ever judge you and everyone is always willing to share information and help if you have questions. It's like having your own personal I know

Hello to all the team members, i'm new to SparkPeople. I am trying again to lose weight. I am 40 pounds overweight and I look and feel terrible. Glad to be a part of the team, I need all the help I can get. How do I get started tracking my exercise, looking up recipes, getting motivated? Not sure how to begin. Thanks all!
