THIS WORKS. WENT ON WEEKS CRUISE DID NOT GAIN A POUND.

my sister walks 15,000 steps a day at 63 y
ears old and has lost 105 pounds. she went from a size 24 to a size 10. all her health issues dropped off as the 105 pounds dropped off. took 16 months.

i gave up grain and sugary products and have lost 44 pounds at age 60. i went from a size 18 to a size 10 shorts and medium tops from a 1 or 2x. took 7 months.

we are both still loosing weight until we reach our goal

Hi, Dina and welcome - so glad you joined Spark and this team! emoticon Hope you will think about creating a Spark Page for yourself so all your new Spark buddies can communicate with you and send you virtual Goodies to encourage you and bring you smiles! My advice is 1) use your nutrition tracker faithfully, every single day, because it will keep you honest and accountable for your choices; 2) find a few exercises/activities you actually ENJOY doing and then do them 3-4X a week - if you like doing them, you have a better chance of sticking with them; 3) stay active with your teams because they will keep you motivated and give you support and encouragement, and; 4) try to have fun with this because if you enjoy the journey you will reach your destination! emoticon Looking forward to sharing info and experiences with you as we go forward towards our goals emoticon

You are welcome. As you explore the site you will be able to make groupings of foods you eat together, for instance a cereal, milk and fruit can form a group so that you only have to click on your group instead of entering all 3. You can also put your own recipes into the program and find out the calories in a single portion. emoticon

Thanks for responding so quickly. Really appreciate it. I just started this morning completin the FOOD tracker and I like the format very much. Given that I eat most simple foods this works well for me. I rarely eat out and never eat processed/boxed/frozen type foods. I will be monitoring portion sizes and keeping the journal really helps to see what I am eating, when and HOW much. Thanks again..

emoticon Make sure you measure all your food, either by measuring cup or by weight. Many people who otherwise eat very healthy diets find that their problem stems from not having a good grip on what a portion is and the only way you can do that is by measuring. The Nutrition tracker is an important tool to getting on track. The fitness tracker is the other very important tool. You can do it!

I am 54 and have been struggling since October 2010 to get back on track. I arrived in California healthy, well and weighing 140lbs from Colorado but the shock of so much at one time took its toll on me. Changes in my life happened all at once and just overwhelmed me and my health/weight. Left my daughter at college in Denver, got married (very happy I might add), had to leave my home state of Colorado, moved to San Francisco (which I can't stand - too cool, too noisy, too congested and too much for my soul coming from the mountains of Colorado), started a new business, went through menopause, quit smoking and gained 30 lbs. Desperately want to go home and we will be by year's end I pray.
I have started an exercise program last week of elliptical, weights and walking. Trying to sort out my diet as I actually eat well (no frankenfoods), take supplements etc. but my weight is not moving. I am sure stress is a big factor. Need some help and support on this journed to wellness and going home :-)
