I know it feels like you can put on 5 lbs. in a week but realistically it isn't likely - you'd have to eat 17,500 calories over your allotted calories to gain that much (it takes an extra 3500 calories to gain 1 lb.) What's been said about water is absolutely true. We flush out sodium, etc. when we drink our 8 glasses of water each day. As for "Plateau Land" - well, I just got off an almost 3 week stall and only broke it by losing 1/2 lb. It's all part of losing weight but if you stick to your guns and keep on tracking and making healthy choices, in the end it will all pay off
"I will praise You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made..." Psalm 139:14
Hi, sometimes it could be water weight gain. I know at times when I'm not losing it is because my water intake has been less. Which results in weight gain. Then when I increase my water intake off comes the water gain in additon to more weight loss.
And there is that plateu we all hit. Which you'll need to increase your excerise routine. The best might be the walking. That's it for me. Then I'm on the right track till the next time. Also, if you haven't already get a pedometer. Reaching for that 10,000 mark can be challenging.
But, most of all don't give up or give in. This is still a learning process to what you need to do to lose weight. It's better to hit that plateu at times then to gain and continue to gain the weight back.
And this is a great support you've joined. Continue to come back. There will be someone whose has been where you're at, at that moment.

As of 1/26/08, I've completed all 4 Stages of the SparkDiet. Now on to using what I have learned.
I'd like to know why you can gain 5 lbs or more in one week yet it takes so long and so much work to lose weight@! I have been losing 1 lb a week consistently for the past weeks. Yes, I know that is good but it's been calorie logging and exercising each day! I see why this is so discouraging. Putting it on is easy, and one might say pleasureable. LOL, while in contrast losing it is hard work. UGH Need some motivation to stay the course. 15 lbs gone 20 to go.
