Hi Carolee~Welcome! I'm 58 with medical issues that prevent me from doing any impact exercising. I walk long distances but that may not be for you. Some ideas: an elliptical machine, bicycle (stationary or road), Nordic track, those type of machines. Maybe you could try different ones to see what you enjoy the most. And a strong plug for water aerobics! My sister has severe rheumatoid and osteoarthritis and was over weight for many years. Once she retired, she became a water aerobics instructor! She gets cardio as well as strengthening, and has started walking 1-2 miles, often breaking it up into two short walks a day. She is 73 but seriously, she looks like she's in her 40s! She had to take the long view and realized that she would be stuck in a chair if she didn't get active. And believe me, she isn't one to sit for long! With your bionic knees and soon to be bionic hip, you'll be unstoppable! Good luck and please keep us posted. You can do this!
Hello everyone. I'm a 64 year old who is trying to lose 20 pounds for my daughter's wedding which is at the end of August. That means about a pound a week. It sound simple, but we all know it isn't that easy. I am pretty good at eating right, but not at exercising. I've had both knees replaced and a hip that will have to be soon. If you also suffer from arthritis, let me know what works for you as far as exercising. I'm looking forward to being a member of this group.
