I too know the tragic awakening of the 50+ "oh, how did those pounds get there."
I used to be able to eat what I wanted without any real problems. But then, over the last decade or so, the pounds slowly and insidiously crept up on me and now....ta da...I'm 25 pounds overweight. Ughh!
I just started Spark recently. I wish i had found it sooner. I can't believe how helpful it's been. I love being able to link my fitbit tracker to automatically log my steps. And I love being able to just go to the workout videos and exercise along with them and just click to track the calories burned. This site is amazing.
I'm still learning about all that Spark has to offer. Today, for the first time, I played spark radio while I walked at my home. (I homeschool a special boy and don't get out of the house during the week too much so a lot of my physical activity is inside the house. I walked 12K steps today - a nice portion of which I accomplished while listening to Karen and Lilly talk about how I can get more vitamin D and how I can be positive in my approach to losing weight..I felt like i had a couple of girlfriends over for a visit. It was really nice!
Another new thing I tried today was the recipe section. When planning for my dinner meal, the meal planner suggested vegan and lentil burgers. I just clicked on the recipe and whipped 'em up. They were delicious! And the best part..... I was able to eat it with two thin slices of Italian bread. I was thrilled. This is what Spark is all about....there's no torture....no denial of things you like....no "you can't have that." It's just balance, moderation and portion control combined with exercise and activity. And if you feel tempted to go overboard or even if you do - don't beat yourself up about it. Just go on....do whatever makes you feel better...use "little bits of power" to overcome - like doing some sit ups or taking a walk.
I feel like i can do this. I am so excited about it. I know you can do it too!
