Lisa,

I just thought of another thing you can do to track your progress.

Write down your measurements as you start this journey as that is a good guideline, not just the scale.

You might need someone to help you measure. Neck, bust, arms above the elbows, waist, hip, thighs, calfs and ankles. Then put it on your mirror or bulletin board where it is visible for you.

Remember you will lose fat but gain muscle. Muscle weighs more than fat so you will lose inches. How your clothes fit is another tool to pay attention to.

Happy journey.

Get into the habit of making heathery choices in all the things you do and then learn that it is a life change that you have to keep to so make the choices easy ones and build them up.
Once you have started to notice the weight lose make sure you put into place strategies to stop you reverting back to old habits.

Welcome Lisa. First of all, you really need to soften your self talk. I know what you say may all be true but the harsh judgement holds on to the situation (and the pounds). Easy does it here. If you just buy one relaxed outfit to wear while you are learning how to do things differently, you will feel some relief. There's nothing worse than having nothing but too tight clothes to wear.

Purge your pantry, refrigerator and freezer of junk foods and replace them with healthy foods. Shop the perimeter of the store where all the fresh foods are. Do not eat processed foods. Read labels, if you can't pronounce the ingredients, it isn't real food and loaded with salt.

Track your food for a few days and see how many calories you are actually eating and then you can start making healthy choices. Write down every bite, no cheating!

There is so much information on this site that it will blow your mind and it is all free for your use.

Keep us posted as to your results,

Hi Everyone!
I'm just joining today and probably like many of you here I've done all the diets and swore that this time I'll get it. I have lost the same 10# over and over and now at 51 years old that 10 I need to lose has turned into 20. I am so upset with myself. I can't fit into any of my clothes and I refuse to buy a bigger size. I can lose the weight, I've proven that many times, but I just can't keep it off. As soon as I get to my goal I go right back to my old habits. I'm a willful, spoiled brat who wants what I want when I want it and don't want any rules. emoticon Well, that's not working for me so good so here I am. I'm looking forward to getting to know you all.
