Justme--

This was not from medications, but from work and family stresses and a change in the kind of activity I was doing. (Stress produces natural corticosteroids in the body ... the body's own type of compound, if you are prone to it). Stress made me want to eat more in addition to--finally-- making it slower to lose the regained weight... JUST like a medication does.

Tina you said you went from 143 to 154 in 2 months just a quick question. Could that be from medications you are taken? I had the same thing happen to me & I was allergic to medication & when I got off it I lost it but slower than I gained it. Just a thought....
Good Luck & if you need anything just ask me.

Tina, I had the very same experience a little over a year ago, when I first joined SparkPeople. I realized that I could NOT get away without tracking my food and exercise. I thought I was eating healthily, but I really needed the accountability of weighing, measuring, and tracking daily. Using the nutrition and fitness trackers here does work, and I encourage you to do that.

Take care!

Sue

God is so good. Saving me from any intervention. My first cousin is 2 years post-operative gastric bypass and around my age.

That said, I weigh 150.

Thanks. Between Health at Every Size and my involvement with yoga, I was convinced I could slack off on the calorie counting to what I internalized over nearly SEVEN years.

Intuitive Eating style. But it does not work. I felt much, much stronger and less hungry but I shot up from 143 to 154 pounds in less than 2 months and my goal is about 140

And also, hi to DeeNat. I am not sure how this whole community thing works. I am new around here also, and was under the impression this is a general purpose introduction thread.

Perhaps there is a group for long term maintainers who gained a little something, but are also 50+--perhaps the issues are different. Because the nutrition knowledge is already there and the weight RE-gain is part of a larger problem. Also involved are long-term issues precipitated by long-term weight problems, i.e. stress, being single and self-supporting, having people second-guess you all the time .... the list goes ON and on....

Hi ... to introduce myself, I kept off about 55 pounds for six years, but I put back on 10 of those. But most of the time I had been around 50 to 80-ish pounds overweight, with only brief periods at goal weight. So, I have 10 to lose but wonder if this is the group for me since I can balloon up at age 55. If I were 30 years younger, I'd have been recommended for a lap band. Then, as now, my health insurance fails to cover such a thing. There but for the grace of God!
