Take this first week to familiarize yourself with the tools here. Once you get used to using them, it becomes easier to use them even when you are busy. Personally, I spent my first week learning to use the tools, and just tracking everything I was already eating and doing for exercise. It gave me a baseline to work from. It also gave me a chance to really decide what my goals were, and how to get there.

This site can only provide the support and the tools to reach these goals. You need to put the hard work in. Personally, I end up kicking my own butt every day. Feel free to check out my blogs to see how I kick my butt out the door to get my fitness in. I can tell you, once I am finished with my exercise for the day, I feel great. No more I should do this and I should do that. Instead, I feel accomplished, and able to relax and enjoy the rest of my day.

You took the first step. Start working on your diet and try to lose a few pounds. Find out from your doctor what is acceptable exercise for your conditions. I also have back injuries but I have had mine for many years. through stretching, I have regained alot of strength and I walk 3 miles on the treadmill a few times a week. I swim and am pretty active. The pain, which was unbearable in the beginning, is almost a memory. I hardly take advil anymore for my back and at one point, I was addicted to pain meds. there is always hope. Don't give up and try to keep positive. The mind is most of the battle. As long as you wake up each day, you have an opportunity to make this better. Never forget that! emoticon

Hi,
My name is christine and I am struggling with my weight and need to lose alot. I have not been this heavy since I was pregnant with my first child back in 1986. I have been struggling with OA in my joints and have been told by doctors if I do not lose this weight I will not be walking in the next one to two years. I recently injured my back and have a tear in l4/l5 which is causing alot of pain. I have been out of work since May 28th, and I do not see myself able to return and i am depressed. I want to lose this weight so I can play with my grandchildren like a normal person without having to struggle to move. Looking forward to my future weight loss, I hope.
