Hi y'all. New to the team but of course not to SP. I've been around for a while (since 2012).
I'm a member of 40 somethings with 50-99 pounds to lose for the last cpl years. And I am happy to say I'm only 37# from my goal so I decided to join this team as well. SP has been so valuable to me on this journey. Good luck to you all.

I think instead of creating a new thread, I will just reply to this existing thread.

I previously lost over 100 lbs. ( I weighed in at 309) At one point, I was down to 198. For what ever reason, I am just gaining weight like there is no tomorrow. I am not sure why I feel the need to devour food like I am starving, but I am going to drop these 30 lbs and get back to the weight I was at.

Wow, it must be the age range we have in common, but do you guys see the similarities in all of our posts?? Here we are again, determined that this time we will stick with it. YES! We can! I have been on SP for 8 years off and on, sometimes with great success, and other times not so much. Looking forward to some support and interaction!

Hello All!
Ive been on this site, off and on, for almost a decade. Took the past 3 years off basically, as I was fed up with my life and I went through a divorce in 2015. Lost 200# of dead weight ha! Sounds like alot of of my Fab Forties ladies have a similar story to tell. Unhappy marriage forever, kids, depression, fighting the losing battle. Well no more! So much happier being divorced, and finally really enjoying being my real genuine self for the first time in my life. Have a great boyfriend who doesnt give a rats ass about my size, just as long as Im not skinny, because he is very lean, and well no body fat on either side can lead to uncomfortable bruising lol.

I restarted earlier this month because I was sick of feeling low energy, out of shape and just unhealthy. I snore and have hbp, hopefully a lifestyle change can help with those too! Joined this team because, yall are my peers and get it, and I really dont have outrageous WL goals, 30-50 pounds lighter would be fine, and honestly, getting it toned up would probably make a world of difference, so its no longer about a number. Im doing no sugar, low carb high fat. Walking for exercise, planning to start doing weight training soon.

Already feeling 100% better by changing my diet, I was addicted to sugar. It was making me really sick. Im learning that my body burns healthy fats way better than refined carbs, so my lazy ways of having cheese and crackers for dinner, or a bagel, or bread-no. Im not nuts, Ive had small portions here an there but have not had more than a half dozen servings of 'bread' in a month.

Hi All,
So I came back to Spark People yesterday. I was here a number of years ago and did really well. In true yo-yo, rollercoaster, whatever you would like to call it, fashion, I'm back to where I was when I started back then. Reading through a lot of the posts in here, it seems like a pretty familiar theme. I think we're all wondering, "How did I get back here? Why did I let this happen?" I guess now it's time to let all of that go and refocus. Small steps to get back on track and hopefully a group of people here helping me stay on that track. If your home life is anything like mine, it can be a little crazy and I am the glue holding together. Ever feel like you're taking care of every body else's needs and then are too exhausted to take care of your own? I'm sure there are more than a few of you that can understand that feeling. So...here I (we?) go...time to take care of me.

I have decided to join as I have put everyone ahead of me for so long. I finally need to make myself a priority in life. I finally need to spend time on myself to improve myself. No more excuses as to why I cannot do this.

Hi everyone,

I've been lurking on this SparkTeam for some time now. I just got some news about my cholesterol and that has really spurred me to take action on my health as I need to get my cholesterol back to normal and work to lose this weight once and for all. I've had a rough first half of the year as I fell down my stairs at home. But I'm all better now and I don't have any excuses anymore.

Hello all, my name is Sheila and I have joined on and off for several years. I'm finally ready to make a commitment to health and weight loss. It's hard to get started and I hate exercise but I've got my mind made up this time! And I can't believe I'm going to say this, but I find a different exercise routine everyday to mix things up and I'm having fun with it. Waiting for the pounds to start melting away....

I rejoined yesterday after being away for 9 years. It's been a crazy time full of having my 4th kid (now 3), an unhappy marriage, depression, owning a salon, now divorcing, etc. I'll be 41 this year and have a minimum of 35lbs to lose. My thoughts tell me I'm sick enough of this body to change, but I just can't seem to make it all happen. I'm hoping this time around I'm able to find the motivation and stick-to-it attitude I need to succeed.

I just joined the team. I am looking to lose about 45 lbs. I lost two pounds the first week but I can already see the scale slowing down. I'm trying to stay positive and focused and not get to frustrated. Slow and steady wins the race.

Coming back after along break. I'm hoping to gain back more focus and I've always found this a great site for having supportive members. I've been training for the last 5 years and have recently finished a bulking phase which I'm struggling to pull out of. My goal is to gain more muscle, which isn't easy to do when in a calorie deficit for too long. Easy to fall back into bad habits though... time to pull up my socks:)

Hello All,

My name is Melinda and I have used Sparkpeople to lose weight and stay on track for many years. I lost track of my healthy lifestyle changes in 2014 when my mother passed away. Being her primary caregiver left me to neglect myself. Eating went okay but exercise fell to the wayside. I have a husband and 3 sons. Two of them are in elementary school so I am quite busy. I have rededicated myself to me and look forward to getting on track.

Hello all. It has been a few years since I have been on SP. I had met my goal and lost even more :) I did well till moving to NC. My weight has sky rocketed and I am the heaviest I ever have been. My kids are grown and I have 6 Grandbabies that I hardly see, my husband is one of those who can eat what they want & it doesnt effect them. I have started prepping meals and putting them in the freezer and trying to eat healthier but the sugar craving are worse then ever too.

Hi Everyone!
I just started SP 5 days ago. For the last 7 months I've cut out 32oz of soda, started drinking 8-10 cups of water, walk/run 3 to 6 miles a day (on off days I do fe fit videos. And I've changed my eating habits. I haven't lost a single pound. My clothes fit no differently. It's discouraging but I don't want to quit. I'm hoping the site will give me a visual of where I am going wrong.

Never really been active on SP. But this was the year that I decided to make a change. When I hit over 300 I decided that now was the time. I have a husband who is on this journey with me, a son that doesn't like eating healthy, 2 dogs (Beagle and Red Heeler), and 5 cats. Looking forward to the weather warming up so I can go walking again (walking the dogs in the cold Utah weather with the inversion is a chore and unhealthy to boot) and I can ride my motorcycle again.

Transitioning to a low carb paleo diet and making sure to not be too hard on myself when I have a cookie. Soon I'll go through a Whole30 cycle to kick start when I plateau, just trying to get used to the different ingredients and getting all the bad foods out of my house gradually.

Looking forward to the journey and better health.

Hello, I'm becoming active on 40~ now, because my first couple of 21-day Challenges are wrapping up. I've found the posts very helpful, and I want to keep going in forums.

I was 185 a couple weeks ago... and surprised. I knew I had added pounds, but not that many. In spring 2015, I was 190, and by Oct '15, 140 (the Live Out of Your Truck, Camping Diet). I gauge my weight by how my pants fit, but the scale telling me I'd regained 45 pounds shook me.

I decided to take action, and here I am. 10 off in week-1, 4 last week. And trying to exercise more often.

Thanks for being here with me... Best to each on your journey.

Kate

I was here a while ago, but joined again today,My name is Tracey, I am currently living in Delaware, I'm from Maryland and I lived in NJ for 16 years with my ex husband. I am trying to get my life together, I am dealing with severe grief on top of it all, my fiance' passed away suddenly unexpectedly in october and I am having a really hard time dealing with it. I also need knee surgery but the dr wants me to get my weight at least to 159 lbsif not less but that is a totally unreasonable weight for my age height and current weight of 324 I dont believe I was under 240 lbs when I was 18 years old, I believe I need to lose weight but losing over 165 lbs is completely unreasonable I will look like a stick, i mean shoot my 21 year old step son who is a stick is 154 lbs. Anyway, I came back to try to start losing weight again hopefully I can try and actually make some headway this time. Hope everyone has a blessed day

Hello everyone. Mrs. Grace here from NW Arkansas. I rejoined sparkpeople just today. I joined about 10 years ago and went from 220+ down to 158. I kept that off (mostly) throughout all these years. However, October of 2015 I stopped smoking and gained up to 190 again. I had lost all but 10 of that. Recently, It was discovered that I've had a stroke due to uncontrolled diabetes. As a result I've been prescribed injection insulin. I've now regained back up to approximately 175 (it fluctuates from 172 - 180 daily). So... here I am again. I'd like to lose 25 lbs although my ideal weight according to those calculators says I need to lose 37 lbs. So I guess my goal is to lose 25 - 37 lbs. I'll look forward to meeting you all and getting to know you in the boards.

Hi! I rejoined last night, but never got around to visiting teams before bedtime. I was on spark several years ago and lost about 35 pounds. After I got transferred to a location closer to home, I stopped tracking and exercising. I was using my lunch hour at work to walk 2 miles everyday. I gained the 35 back plus some. I decided that it was time to get back to a healthier lifestyle. I've been married almost 12 years and have 2 children. My son will be 20 in a couple of weeks, and my daughter just turned 9 in December. We also have 2 cats.

Hi everyone,
I have about 45 pounds I need to lose. I had knee surgery a couple years ago that sidelined me for a bit. During that time my thyroid went haywire. I have been apart of SparkPeople for years and decided that this year is my year to stay motivated and reach out for community help.

I am 46 years old and currently weigh 181 pounds. My goal is to reach 145 by June. My son's wedding is then and I would like to be fit and smaller by then. I look forward to getting to know this team better and support each other in this journey.

Cheers, Winnie

I"m not new, not really, but I'm back. I re-joined WW this past Friday, and I was on the WW site on their "community" tab, and really, there's nothing there. There were several posts about people who were working on - or had lost 100 lbs.. one lady was so happy that she finally got under 300 (from 450). And I'm happy for them, really, but it's so far from my own journey, that's it's hard to relate.

I'm 43, 172lbs (personal high) and my goal is 135. I lost weight on here back in 2006, then with WW in 2011. I lost it all, keep it off for a while, then stop paying attention to how and what I eat and of course it all comes back. So I'm back.

Anywhay thanks for reading. :)

I'm 43 and have about 30 pounds to loose. I joined SP in 2010 but have been on and off since. I had bad health news last week and I have to do something about it. So here I am ... again.

Hi.
I am here because after some major life altering events I found that I had really been neglecting myself and my own wellness.
I don't really believe in New Year's Resolutions but I do believe the wind of change has blow into my life (much more gently this time) to tell me it's my time to focus on me once more.
I'm here to support that.

I am Mark.
I am 48 going on 13.

I have been intermittently active with MyFitnessPal over the last five years. I have Yo-Yoed my weight between 225 and 195.

My father passed away from cancer last year. I have allowed depression to be an excuse to ignore my fitness.

I have plenty of fitness knowledge I just dont apply it well to myself.

I joined SparkPeople to get a fresh start.

Welcome Renee!

Hopefully you're getting more familiar with the site by now. It's a bit overwhelming at first. Perry had some great suggestions for you.

Try looking at it from a PC, it does make a difference. there's so much information on the site. Hope you love it like we all do!

Welcome PerryLHenry

You're right, it does take a bit to get used to the site.

There is a tutorial and welcome guide that I recommend every check out (see the welcome email).

Plus setting up your account from a phone versus a pc makes a difference. Once you have an account, you have the option of letting others add you as a friend, make comments on your page, etc.

Hey..

I have been on spark since 2007, I have lost, maintained and gained at different times. I have recently come back after a brief affair with MFP..LOL. But Spark is where I experienced my biggest success and received the most support.

For the past two years I worked really hard to get ready for my 5 year wedding renewal. It was worth it because I felt absolutely beautiful on that day and throughout our long honeymoon. emoticon . So I have decided to go for the gold and work towards my ultimate goal.
So here is to..making it happen! emoticon

Aloha!

I'm a long-time Sparker but trying to get back into it, yet again - because it's such a fantastic website! I've gained a bit, and have lost some on my own over the last 6 months. I'm now in the "25-49 Lbs to Lose" category (yay!) so I thought I'd join this group now! :) I'll try to be active in it.

Happy November & good luck to all!

Hi Renee,

I have been using the site for 9 weeks. It took me a couple of weeks before I committed to it. I have used myfitnesspal in the past. I have used myfitnesspal on and off for a decade. It has great trackers but no real community of support. I like that you can find people here who are dieting the way you want to diet or not dieting at all just working on general fitness and a healthy lifestyle. You can ask questions and actually get answers. I use both the app and the desk top. There are some desktop features that are not available on the app. (they are available on the mobile site though so if you are phone or tablet only you can still get there. Good Luck. You can do it, Perry

Hi everyone. I'm Renee. Somewhat overwhelmed or maybe skeptical about the site / my own success. I am desperate to drop about 30 pounds. I likely will ask a lot of questions and look for a lot of encouragement - I will apologize in advance, lol!

Hello! Like many of the recent team members here -- I had lost all the weight and was feeling great. But since going back to work after a mat leave it's ALL crept back on. But together we can do this!

hello everyone!
my name is ariel and i'm 43. i've been off and on here on Spark for years and it has always really helped me reach my fat loss goals. the last two years though i have put on 35 pounds after suffering from some injuries. i'm still recovering so i am still unable to exercise like i used to, but i'm so ready to try to lose this weight!! i miss being lean and fit! i don't have problems with my motivation to exercise, it's my motivation to stick to a daily calorie limit. dieting is so hard for me but i really want to do this.
good luck everyone and TGIF! =D

Effort is between you, and you, and nobody else.

If you really want to do something, you'll find a way. If you don't, you'll find an excuse.

Doing something is always better than doing nothing.

Consistent practice is the key to mastery.

Hi, I kind of new here. I used to use sparkpeople app on windowsphone. Back then I managed to lose 12 kg.

For some reasons, I stop exercising and relapse to my bad habit. Now almost all those weight is back. When I realized it, I kinda lose motivation to get back at my routine. It's depressing to see all the hard work goes to the trash bin.

But I want to try once more. I have RA and all these extra weight hurt my joints.

Hi, my name is Paula. I have been on S.P. for years and I successfully lost all the weight I wanted before my 40th birthday but once that birthday passed I just couldn't find the same motivation to stick with my healthy habits. I'm hoping joining a team where everyone is a similar age dealing with similar problems it will help me get and stay motivated.

Here is a little Public Service Announcement- if you are doing everything "right" get your hormones checked *including testosterone. I recently found out my body was basically making no testosterone and my hormone imbalance was making me feel terrible, gain lots of body fat, and feel like I was "going through menopause" but that wasn't what it was!

Hi everyone.. Starting today. Hoping I can get some exercise as my Achilles tendon has been acting up for a few weeks now. I recently starts a bowling league with my boyfriend and I think that may be causing me some problems, and the extra weight I've gained recently.

Wishing everyone else luck who are just starting as well. emoticon

Hello. Are you using the App or Desktop or Both? I highly encourage going through the beginning steps on the desktop. I am 4 weeks in and really like using the combination of both.

I found this group about a week ago. So far it seems positive and I like it. My goal is to take this really slow.
