That is so wonderful! Congrats on the four pounds and the miles getting faster too! Keep it up! Where do you normally run? I just ran a half Sunday (3/14) that was WONDERFUL! It was the Celebrate Life Half in Rock Hill, NY. I highly recommend it to any avid runner! I'll be doing it next year, for sure!

Welcome to the team, glad you have joined us. SP is a great place to learn and accomplish your goals. In the past I tried to exercise my way to a healthier weight without changing my eating habits, and I also felt better but the weight never came off. I have now learned how important both aspect are in order to really achieve a healthy lifestyle. Good luck to you!

I am a mom in NYC. I have three kids, ages 7, 4, & 2. I am training for my third marathon and my friend and I set a goal to lose 10 pounds by race day (May 1, 2010). I've been running for four years now and although I feel healthy and energetic and have maintained a relatively healthy weight for over a year (after I lost my baby weight from baby #3) I am always right on the verge of overweight with my BMI and have never been able to get down closer to the middle of the "healthy" bracket. So I decided to count calories and see if I can make that happen. I've been here for four weeks and have lost four pounds! Hooray! It's a lot of work to do the planning, but it's worth it. I am much more aware of my choices and have been eating less sweets. My miles are getting faster as well!
