Hello, I am new here too. I found this website when I was disappointed with the new weight watchers pointsplus system. I hope this site helps! One day down, the rest of my life to go!

Hi everybody! New here! Am trying to go from 73kg to 60! I find it so hard to not over-eat...and mindless snacking, especially in the evening. Comfort-eating, I guess. Hoping that being on here will get me healthy and keep me motivated!

What you eat and what you do makes a big difference in how you look at yourself. Simply making good choices has given me the confidence in the past to keep going and a friend or two to help with that can make things easier. Good look to you and just know that we all have been in the boat you are in now. This site is proof of that.

Just turned 30, spent my entire twenties chubby.
I have had all lab work done and nothing besides being borderline diabetic suggests I have any health concerns as to why I cant lose weight. I eat super healthy and when do :backslide", I feel like I carry it for a week. I need to lose weight and be thin in my 30's and feel sexy and be healthy. Looking for friends to help motivate and journey through weight loss with.

Hi 30 somethings.. I just joined as a New Years resolution... I have about 15 pounds to lose, and have been stagnant at or around 140 pounds for the last four years... for a number of reasons, familiar to all of you. Getting married, working killer hours.. falling out of the habit of exercise and healthy eating. My husband and I are on a joint endeavor to lose weight, but we have different roads - he is into the protein bars and shakes, and calculating exact rations of carbs and protein and 6 small meals a day, while I am just trying to eat healthier and would rather do without the bars and shakes, thank you. (though he did buy me some banana whey protein that tastes like banana Quik from the 1970s.. please someone say what what to that!) This is a good group for me... I look forward to taking part (and publishing my business in the way of the trackers is a way for me to be accountable to myself, and to others.. pretty scary. ) Happy New Year everyone!

Hi everyone,

My name is Terrilee (Terri). I'm 30 years old and am looking to lose roughly 15 lbs...I'm currently 152. My heaviest was 166 back in October 2009 and dropped 13 lbs by January 2010.

I joined a gym in Feb 2011 but due to a job loss, I haven't gone. I'm going to start back now that I am working again. I took ballroom dance lessons for 2 1/2 years and then West Coast Swing lessons in 2011...that ended in November when for some odd reason, my WCS dance partner stopped talking to me. Oh well.

I'm planning on at running in my first 5k (depending on my asthma) in May or I'll walk it....that's the good thing about a 5k run/walk.

I look forward to being an active member of this Spark Team

~*~Terri~*~

Goals:

To make my father proud.

Hi everyone! I am getting the new year off to a good start with a resolution to use this site to its fullest! I have battled with my weight all my adult life due to a love of food and drink, and lots of it. :) I have always had an easy time losing that 10 or 20 pounds, only to slip into old habits and see it come right back again in 6 months or a year. Well this time, I don't know what's changed, but I have been working at losing weight (inconsistently, of course) on and off for about a year, and have never found it harder! My old tactics are failing me this time.. I don't know if it's a slowing metabolism, or the depo provera I've been on for the past year and a half, but either way, this extra weight has been hard to get rid of. It's really affected my self esteem, my sex life, and my confidence in other areas of my life. I refuse to buy new clothes, stubbornly holding out till I can fit into my size 7 jeans again and all the other clothes I love. So I've been wearing the same stretchy skirts for far too long. That will all be changing though, because I'm finally ready to give it my all and do whatever it takes to get fit, eat healthy consistently, and feel and look my best. I look forward to becoming a part of this community and getting to know you all better!

hello,
its meagain, well not really its me who wants to be the old me again. i have totally lost myself with a new husband, new step son and a new baby! i got divorced in 2005 after a 11 year marriage. my world crashed down, i had a 6 year old and a 4 year old, that divorced inspired me to change my life, i was 200 lbs and so unhappy with myself. i started running and working out like crazy, i started watching what i ate and i really started taking care of myself. i got into the best shape of my life, started running races and even ran a mini marathon, when i finished that race i knew i could do anything!! it was the most wonderful experience to finish that race.
well then i met my now husband, at the gym no less, he actually trained me for a while, then we started dating and guess what? we stopped working out, instead we met for coffee and for lunch and for dinner and drinks! oh no! well he asked me to marry him and we started planning the wedding, we got married in sept and mid november i was preg with my 3rd baby, this was his first pregnancy, his first child is adopted. so this was a new experience for him and man oh man did we both gain the weight! like omg.
now my baby is 3 1/2 and i am back at 200lbs, and i have got to get this back under control, i need this site and the help of all of you to help me stay focused, i really want to run again!!! emoticon

Hi all! I am a wifey, mamabird to 2 BEAUTIFUL little girls, friend (yes, the crazy one), caretaker, dog walker, house cleaner (well sometimes ;D), life scheduler, playdate maker, bill payer, negotiator, and the list goes on and on. I love my life and am grateful for the crazy chaos I am fortunate to have, but at times it reaches fever pitch and I'd like to eat 2 cans of whipped cream with whipped cream on top under the covers with my music BLARING to block everyone out! My weight has become the underlying factor to the angry & miserable mood I encounter more and more frequently and my family deserves a happy mommy and wifey, so I joined Spark to help me get in the mix and get this weight off with the support of people traveling this road too! I was navigating through different member pages and have to admit, you are all incredible inspirational and motivational, so thanks for giving me a kick in the hinney I so desperately needed!!

Hello everyone! I was honorably discharged from the military a few months ago and am going through a career change. I am studying to become a Radiologic Technologist and would like to eventually pursue an advanced degree in Radiologic Sciences. A few months ago, I started weight training and express much love for it and lost about 10 lbs but in the last month I have been horrible staying motivated for one reason or another; because of the holidays, it's too cold, and I was also sick for two weeks. I am ready to get back on track to doing what I love most. My goal is to lose 12 lbs, build muscle and strength, and sculpt/tone by body by February 2012. I am also thinking about participating in fitness competitions.

Hi! I'm Rebecca, college student, part time SAHM, domestic goddess! I used to be extremely active but had an illness that set me back on my workout/weight loss goals. Since I don't have a great deal of face to face interaction with people, I really need to stay motivated and encouraged!

Hi! We are in the same boat QSTERINE! I feel like no matter how much I exercise, my weight hasn't changed. I think the solution is really tracking our eating along with the exercise to make the weight drop. Good luck! Keep me posted on your progress emoticon

Hi! I am am a stay at home mom of 3. I have gained about 25 lbs over the past 4 years and I hate it. It affects my self-esteem and my wardrobe. Some of my weight gain came from having the kids but I blame my metabolism for it staying on. I remember when all I would need to do to lose some weight was to get out and run. Now the weight is hanging on no matter how much I work out the weight is barely coming off it comes off at all. And it makes it harder to exercise b/c moving this heavy body is hard.

So I realized that I need to change my eating habits and I know from others that SparkPeople is the place that will help me do it. I'm hoping that I'll meet some weight-loss buddies on this team who are in the same boat as I am.

There are plenty of things that taste better than skinny feels. I just eat a little less of it sometimes.

Hi! I'm addicted to sweets also. It's the worst for me at night after dinner. I'm going to try to go cold turkey and go for the next week without having any sweets. Hopefully that will break my addiction and I can start eating fruit for dessert and snacks.

Hi everyone!

Over the last two years, I gained 20 pounds emoticon I left my full-time corporate job two years ago to finish college. Stress from schoolwork, lack of set schedule, and free time caused me to overeat. Now overeating (and even binge eating) has become a habit. I have tried many fad diets, but I never last more than a couple of weeks. I refuse to buy new, bigger clothes so now I live in my yoga stretch pants. My weight gain has caused me to become depressed and I'm embarassed to see my family and friends. I feel like I'm not living a full life anymore. It's time to turn my life around.

I want to make a complete lifestyle change and develop new good habits to replace the bad ones. I'm going to start every day fresh counting calories and exercising. I'm grateful to have found this website to connect with you guys and learn strategies for my goals.

THANKS in advance for your support and encouragement.

So today is day 1 for me and its not easy. I spend 9 years in the Air Force before I was in an IED explosion in 2005. Prior to that I was a health nut--always in the gym, working out, watched what I ate. Since then I have done nothing but gain weight. I was always a solid 145-150 lbs and now its more like 170-175. I used to run all the time but now I have 6 screws in my pelvis, 2 pins in my spine, and a spinal fusion up through L5. I dont' sleep with out meds but they also make me tired during the day. I used to love to work out but never have the energy anymore. I am involved with a great guy but his 4 kids really take a ton of time being 2, 4, 5, and 7. Their mother has little to no involvement. I need to start working out again--I feel better when I do--but I just can't find the motivation or th energy.

Hello!
I am Susan and I am a 35yr old mother of 2 boys... ages 2 and 5. I have been on and off Spark People for a year now and I am finally ready to be serious. I need to lose 20lbs and I have found the motivation to do that. Motivation is my biggest obstacle. I work full time, raise my kids and go to school with the help of my husband so I find very little time for myself. I am determined now to make the "me" time and lose this extra weight I have and get healthier in the process.

Hi I am new to this website and I am very excited to start with the program. I hope that I can find the support I need to keep going. I need to loose at least 20 lbs to finally start feeling like the old me. I used to be so skinny but was told that I was fat all my life... so wrong. Now I look at those pictures and see that there was nothing wrong with me. I wish I could go back to what I used to be but it is more important now for me to get healthy and stay healthy for the rest of my life. I want to stay active for my kids and teach them that we can eat healthy and enjoy life.

Hi there. I am 35 years old and I'm looking to lose 15-20 pounds and get in more exercise time in my busy schedule. I am also addicted to sweets which hinders my weight loss as well. I plan on starting a plan on October 1 and want this plan to stick.

I am starting tomorrow, and have same goals. Im mid 30's and need to lose about 15-20lbs. Motivation and laziness is my biggest obstacle as well as love for food (eating out). I just got married and want to feel as beautiful and my new husband says I am.

Hi Everyone,

I'm new to SparkPeople as of this week. I just turned 30 last month and I need to lose about 10-15lbs. I know to most that doesn't sound like a lot of weight at almost 5'10, but to me it's all about being healthy. I have never had to "buy new clothes" because the old ones didn't fit anymore, so I'd like to continue with that trend (: I have a strong family history of Diabetes(36yo brother passed away from this disease last year) as well as High Blood Pressure and other ridiculous preventable diseases. I want to get ahead of the weight so that one day I won't look at the scale and wonder where 50lbs came from. I used to be a dancer and athletic but after college, I just got busy with life and work and friends, and somehow let myself go. I have not tried anything like this before, so I hope with some hard work and motivation from everyone, I wont quit! I looked forward to hearing success stories and keeping up with everyone's progress

I'm not sure if I've introduced myself yet, so here I go (possibly again emoticon ). My name is Jen, I'm a 31 year old stay at home mother of 3, Jayden is my oldest, he's 8, Rowan is going to be 6 in a few days, and Evelynn is my youngest, she's 2.5. I started my "life change" diet last Tues at 141 lbs. I normally range between 125 and 135. I've been slowly creepy up on the scale, and as I've entered my 30s, my weight has just steadily climbed rather than my usually up and down a few pounds. So I decided before I get too far up there, and overweight, I should make a life change, not just for myself but for my whole family as well. We aren't extremely horrible eaters, I've tried to cook fairly healthy. We eat a lot of poultry and fish instead of ground beef and prepackaged foods. I've tried to eat brown rice, etc.. but lately, it's just been easier and cheaper for me to buy the sugary cereals for my kids, Kool Aid instead of 100% juice, instant potatoes instead of real potatoes, canned and frozen veggies instead of fresh, and I skimp on the fruit on my house because it is so expensive! My goal is to try to incorporate healthy fresh options, without breaking the bank. So far I'm down 4 lbs, in the past week. I know that's probably not going to keep up because you tend to lose the most weight your first week.

Nice to meet you all emoticon

Hi

I have been a member of sparks for about a year and I have been on an off the wagon. I have had a schedule change from work and it has affected my home and work out schedule. I wanted to join a motivated group that will get me back on track and back into the gym.

I've been a member of SparkPeople for a couple of years, but just started using it on Wed. I'm 38 and want to lose 15 pounds that have been creeping up on my about 1 pound a year for the last 15 years. I have a 1 month trial at the gym and I hope to lost what I can in this first month! So far, 2 pounds have come off with watching my diet and exercising more. Yay!

Hi everyone! Brand new here on SparkPeople. I'm in my 30's and I really should lose about 20 pounds. I've just started an exercise and diet routine a few days ago. Time and motivation are my biggest obstacles. It's hard to find time to work out and really, I hate exercising. Hoping to change that!

Good luck to all of you!

Hello!
I am 31 yrs old, turning 32 end of this year.
I need to lose 25lbs ideally. I would be very happy when I reach my
goal of 10Lbs. I'm short so every pound adds a mountain of noticeable weight.

My obstacles are working full time, have 4 kids at home and sports for 3 of them.

I have given up far too many times in the past with only 1 time losing and of course putting it back due to the loss of my ex husband and depression that came with it!

I have now reached every other life goal I set for myself and all I have left is this!!

I joined the gym in April and have just recently gotten into gear and started attending. I went to a Zumba class which was phenomenal! I can't wait to go back. I received a bit of motivation today when my husband told me I looked like I lost some weight. I absolutely haven't, but it still gave me motivation!

I do have a very sad issue and that is past liposuction gone bad on my calves and thighs. I am hoping with some additional weight loss I can repair some of the damage. At least do the best I can to reach my ideal weight and remove the additional fat.

Hi!

37 year old here - looking to lost at least 10 lb but would be happier with 15-20lb but I just can't seem to make that scale budge!

Been tracking food choices for about two weeks. I see some areas of concern and I'm trying to make an effort to fix them.

Also trying to motivate myself to try running. I have started the C25K program more than once and never make it beyond the first week. I can't run a full mile. I did run the majority of two miles the other night though with walk breaks. Hope to do the same tonight here in a few minutes.

I need someone to motivate me and hold me accountable as apparently I'm not getting anywhere on my own - the scale seems to creep up instead of down. I don't know if this is due to my hypothyroid condition or just bad choices.

The effort starts NOW for me. I've started drinking more water (though this really isn't much of an issue - I don't drink much soda or anything else for that matter) and since my habit of drinking water has produced more trips to the potty I figured might as well make that my cue to fit in some strength training while I'm away from my desk - so I pick an area each day and pick a simple exercise and do ten reps before sitting back down at my desk. At least I'm moving!

Off to read a few posts - then I better get that run in before I lost all motivation!

I'll be 40 next year, and I'm a nurse with 3 school-age kids. I'm a single mom, and I lost 70# four years ago during a very painful divorce. I went back to school, got my RN degree and got really fit! Since starting my job a year ago, I've gained back 15-20 pounds by not making time to work out and eating whatever food I can grab, whenever I can grab it. Without exercise, I gravitate back to using food to de-stress. I remember how good it felt to be fit, and I know how to do it. I don't have much time to socialize, so I'm looking forward to motivating each other on Spark :)

I also have 4 year old girl. I'm a support worker at a treatment center in Canada. I have always had a bit of extra meat on my bones, but I'm determined to get in the best shape of my life. I am lucky enough to incorporate excersize into my work life & I have the patients doing a Jillian Michaels workout program with me at lunch time. LOL!

-Good luck everyone!

I began tracking my calories here last Monday and it's going quite well. My first goal is to lose approximately 20 lbs. My second is to become a group fitness instructor. I have worked out regularly for years, and I'm in good shape. I just need to cut my calories to reduce my body fat.

Welcome Evelyn! You will love this site! The people here are all very supportive and offer tons of good tips that they have learned in their own quests to lose weight. Being a single mom is rough, I know I am one too, I have two awesome kids ages 10 & 12. That said, it can also be a great motivator to live a healthy lifestyle and stay fit. I wish you the best of luck in reaching your goals!

Oh, and thank you for your service! I come from a family where my father, two brothers and one sister are all officers. I appreciate your putting your life on the line on a daily basis to keep our lives safe. emoticon emoticon

Hi all, I am Jacqui, from Oshawa, Ontario. I have about 15 lbs to go to my goal weight (I have been doing Weight Watchers for years, reached goal 2x, and am now on my 3rd attempt to get back to goal and keep the weight off).
I am married (which sounds weird to me, I have been married less than 2 weeks), with a step son, who is 24 years of age, and we have a 3 year old boxer named Shera.
I decided to join Sparkpeople to try something new. I am still very much a WW fan, but felt I needed a new program to get me re motivated.
