Hi, just realized that I could switch from 30 something with 25-49 pounds to lose, to 10-24 pounds to lose! Needless to say, very happy to be here.

I'm 30 years old, with an ever-changing work and travel schedule, so routine is very difficult for me. Working on making exercise a habit, as well as trying to eat more healthy.

HI everyone.
I have been a member of Sparkpeople for a while now but hadn't logged in for some time. When I recently logged in after 4 years, I realized that my goal weight was still the same while my actual weight was higher than that 4 years ago! Needless to say, it was very frustrating as I have been struggling with my weight for a long time now, even as I age (I was a member of 20 somethings.... until last year!). However, this time I am determined to not fall off the wagon. I tend to exercise a lot, but in terms of diet as well as drinking, I fall off the wagon due to intense work pressure as well as an active social life. But I recognize that these short-term lapses end up reducing the long-term potential fulfillment of my life, so I am determined to do it differently this time. All the best to everyone!

Hey everyone,

I've been on SparkPeople for a long time but now that I'm getting older I thought I'd upgrade my team lol. It seems I'm one of the few non-mothers on here, just living with my boyfriend in Toronto, Canada.

My highest weight was 212 pounds and I'm today at 169... a few months ago I was 150 but I backtracked hardcore in emotional eating associated with depression and anxiety. Starting off slow, my goal now is to lose 6 pounds in 6 weeks (I have a stickk commitment with $300 on the line). My next goal is to weight 150 for a healthy BMI by 2015. My ultimate goal is 143 pounds because I felt really good and not too skinny there in there past.

I'm looking forward to getting to know this community and hope to find support!

Hi everyone,

I'll be turning 30 next month and decided that 2014 is the year to make some changes. I'd like to lose about 20 lbs, become more active, and eat better. Hope to get some great motivational tips from you guys!

Hi, I'm LaShonda. I've been active on SparkPeople since September of 2012. My goal is to shed a total of 80 pounds. I've released 65 pounds so far. I'm down to the last 15 pounds which is proving difficult to let go of. I'm excited to be a part of this team.

I CAN do this ONE day at a time.

Well, I've been on Spark for a few years. Went from 175 to 140. Then got into Vet School and the stress and sedentary life of a student put me back at 150. I'd like to see 135 with a lot more muscle! I was doing great until 2 weeks ago when I sprained an ankle and have been on doc ordered rest. Gained back the 2-3 pounds I had lost. Now that I can get back into it, I have some rules and need to keep the workouts low impact. So here I am! Just wanted to reactivate my membership here and see how you guys are doing! :)

Hi all :-) My name is Melanie. I am almost 35 years old, and I need a change. Yes, I do love sweets, but every now and then should not be a problem, if everything else is okay. I am moving to a new apartment now, so my change will not be soooo good within in the next few weeks. BUT the most important thing is: I HAVE MADE A START!!! :-) I don't want to be a skinny bone, but I wanna be healthy and have curves :-) So I will start to change to the better. hope I am able to keep myself motivated to do so, as none worst than to treat yourself bad, with all the bad food and exercising habits we have. Have a blessed day.. Cheers, Melanie emoticon

Hi! My name is Martha, and I'm also a former runner/powerlifter who sustained an injury and basically fell off the face of the fitness planet. I put on 20 pounds in that time period, my healthy habits replaced by excuses and self pity.
I've got a lot of work to do starting with relearning the building blocks of what makes me happy and healthy. It's really nice to meet you all, and I look forward to chatting.

Hi team,

I just turned 30 and want to lose 20lbs I've gained since 2012. I severely sprained my ankle (high ankle sprain no less, meaning longer healing time as in months) and unfortunately cannot use my left foot at all. I used to be an active runner but due to this injury from CrossFit, cannot do the workouts I used to do. I joined this team to find that motivation we all need to stick to our goals.

Hello,
I'm Priscilla a 33 year old stay at home mom of two girls ages 13 and 11. I am hoping to find motivation on this site to keep me focused on my goal of losing 24 lbs and gaining a healthier overall lifestyle. I am the type of person that needs outside motivation, doing something for myself isn't enough but if I know I will be letting others down by not following though I achieve better results. (I'm kinda hoping to change that too)

Hello all! I am moving over here from the 25-50 pounds to lose team. I'm about half way through my 35 pound goal. I'm 32, live in Maine, getting married in the fall, and getting a crash course in step-parenting while my fiance is deployed until July.

Hi all!

I've been a member of this team on and off for a while. I am looking to change it up a little bit by becoming active with some new Spark teams. I'm a bridesmaid in two wedding this summer, a few weeks apart, and I'm using that as motivation to reach my goals.

Hello, I'm a new mom, trying to get organized to put my health as a priority so that I can teach good habits to my little one as he grows. I have about 15 pounds to lose.

Side question, how do you get one of those goal progress banners as your signature?

Hi Greatist22,

I gained 10 pounds over the holidays too. And this after I lost five, so now I'm going back to re-lose those five pounds, plus five more! It's way easier to rain for me than to lose!

Good luck!

I have the same problem of you. I am super active but I also eat too much to maintain my goal weight. It's hard for me not to let myself eat treats all the time!

Hi everyone! emoticon
I joined this group a few weeks ago but never introduced myself. I've been a Spark member for almost 1.5 years (actively posting & tracking for most of that time).

I previously belonged to the "30 somethings with 50-99 lbs to lose". I lost 53 lbs last year and have kept all but 15 off. I'm trying to get down to about 10 lbs under my healthy BMI weight.

I love Spark and the community here. I'm hoping to find more support in this team!

Hey all! Just joined this morning. Looking for some accountability and other people who are real about trying to get the weight off. Job stress, the holidays, and an injury were not good to me. Trying to get to my goal weight and then maintain instead of bouncing back to my bad ways. I looooooooooove exercise, but I eat too much to keep it off. =(

Hello everyone! I am 34 and have struggled with weight my whole life. I am looking to lose at least 25 pounds. I have been heavier than I am now but I am currently the heaviest I have been in my adult life. I just gained 10 lbs over the holidays! For some reason I feel like I have lost a lot of my healthy habits and motivation that have helped me lose weight and maintain a healthy lifestyle in the past and am hoping that the Spark community can help me get it back! Lack of consistency paired with late night snacking, stress eating, and a seemingly insatiable sweet tooth are the issues I need to get a grip on. Excuses need to be gone and action needs to start! I just want to feel great, do great, and be great because I believe that we all have it in us and we can all radiate that greatness to others! :)

Looking forward to many healthy exchanges here on Spark! :)

I just quit working out and watching what I ate. it took two months to undo everything I worked for...and it SUCKED! So, this year! I plan on losing that stupid 10 pounds! and MORE! Hi everyone! My name Joni. I am 34 and I have more than 20lbs to lose but I set my initial goal to 20 lbs. 20lbs is a goal that I can obtain a little easier than saying "I'm going to lose 60lbs". I figure when I can reach the 20lb goal I'll set goal for another 20 until I get to my healthy weight. I have been fluctuating on the scale and I am getting frazzled. I'm a stay at home mother of 3. Fitness has been difficult to get in. I have made a goal to do two 15 minutes sessions of exercise. I have been eating right and not seeing results. I am dedicating myself to making time for "me". This is my downfall. I tend to make time for my family's needs instead of my own. I have the mindset and determination to do this.

Hi, I am joining you all, I am 35 and have 22 pounds to lose. I used to be very athletic but have let myself go the last few years. I do not like the way I currently look or feel. I am starting today with getting back into exercising. My biggest issue is sugary drinks and lack of movement since I work long hours.

I am 5'10" my starting weight is 174
My goal weight is 152.

I plan to post regularly so it forces me to stick to my goals.

Hi,
I understand your situation, and I want to know if you noticed that the food you eat tastes better since you stopped smoking? Thumbs up that you quit smoking, and I'm hoping you will keep a pledge "not to smoke anymore". You have to control your eating habits, which can be difficult for you know that you see what you have been missing as smoker. But a few good points is to eat fruit and vegetables; you can eat all the fruit and vegie's you want without having to worry about the calories hurting you by making you gain weight. Cook vegie's are good, but raw ones are the best. I would never tell someone to eat something I hate, like celery and ranch dressing; but try some carrots or maybe some avocado's (they are both fat burners). You may also want to experiment a little by adding more fruit and vegie's into your regular meals. I love experimenting when I cook and every week I come up with a new receipt that healthier and taste great, and one thing I see is results from eating healthy and working out everyday. One more thing, when you watch television how about exercising at the same time? I low impact aerobics, like walking and jogging in place for at least 30 minutes without stopping, while watching my favorite shows. If you do this everyday, you will feel the burn and see results in a few weeks, but you have to make it a work-out, so fast pace, then slow pace to get your heart working.

Keeping my eye on the prize.

Hi,
My name is Octavia and I had to learn healthier ways and alternatives. One of the healthiest things you can do is replace one of of your bad eating habits with a good one, for example instead of having chips how about a piece of fruit? I also cut back on rice, some meals are perfect without rice, such as cabbage and even a Sunday dinner which includes greens. There are many adjustments you can make to your regular diet that will become a normal and good habit, while helping you to cut back on the extra calories that junk food bring along. I've also learned how to eat out healthy, another big problem I had was that seeing a menu full of yummy things to eat, I couldn't resist the temptation. I learned that a healthy and tasty salad with meat on the menu, was better than those ribs or burgers, etc. Just start with small steps, and with every step you take a goal is being achieved. And one fruit I've learned to love that helps burn fat is avocado's, I love them along with a fresh stack of ritz crackers ( the short stacks that come packed individually, not the long ones). These are just a few examples and ways you can jump start a new and healthy habit. Hope my post is useful, and good luck on your journey! emoticon

Hi.

I plan to lose 12-22 lbs. I might be content when I reach the weight that Sparkpeople recommended. More importantly I just want to get healthier. I'm out of shape and I really need to tighten up.

I'm a stay at home mom who recently moved from the beach to a small farm town in the Midwest (we'll be here 4 years). I am having a hard time adjusting and I have become depressed and bored. I hate the cold and snow. I miss the South and I have made no friends, so I'm lonely. As a result I've gained some weight, which makes me more depressed.

I'm ready to take the power back.

That's what she said

Hi Everyone!
My name is Darla and I used to be on SP some time ago. I got to my goal weight until the last few months ago.
I have been diagnosed with Lupus and Uterine Cancer so there are days that I just cannot motivate to walk.
But today I have had enough so I am starting tomorrow to walk at least 15 minutes and to drink more water.

Anywho, I hope everyone has a great night!

Hello everyone, I am enjoying Spark but am finding it hard to get into a forum with support due to kind of being ignored by a lot of pages, which is odd. Suppose I will just keep joining until I find the right one :)
I am 37 years old and been on my weight loss journey since 2009 so the weight is coming off slowly but it's coming off and that is what matters. I started out at 224 and as of today I am 170 YAY!!! First goal met, second goal is 160lbs. I know what works with my body and what doesn't work, but I will tell you what, it is so much harder to lose the thinner you are. I am working out now, and really watching my carbs and sugar as they will always be the death of my weight loss. Just curious to hear what works for others and what doesn't? Hope you all have a great weekend!

Hello all! I was here a couple of years ago on SP and left upon getting pregnant last year...I had a baby in February and did really well during my pregnancy with keeping my weight gain at a minimum...I had some challenges though that forced this! I kept the weight off until coming back to work in May...Since then, I have put on almost all the weight I lost while I was on maternity leave!!! My biggest issues are snacking on unhealthy foods as I have an abominous sweet tooth!!! So, on Monday this week I signed back up for SP with the hope and goal of dropping 20 lbs by my child's 1st birthday in February!

Hello! I'm new here and need help getting some weight off. I've always been pretty active but at age 36, I began slowing down some and put a few pounds on that I can't seem to get off. I still workout but have not been pushing myself to my potential as well as not eating as healthy as I normally do. My goal is to go from 148 to 135 and to feel healthy and happy again. So right now I'm at 148 my goal is to get to 143 in the next 2-3 weeks then focus on 140 2 weeks later and my overall goal is to be 135 by November 1st. Also, I plan on giving more towards my workouts so I can get more out of each workout. I used to run 4-5 days a week but lately I'm lucky to go 1 time a week. Even at the gym I'm not giving my all and it shows...... so my workout goal is to give my all at the gym and run 2 times a week working up to 4 times a week going 30-40 minutes each run. And the last part I dread is watching my consumption of food. I need to begin measuring the right good foods and cutting out all the extra bad foods I've lately been adding to my eating out of control issue. Joining this group, I feel will help me because I will need to account for my actions so I can get to my goal weight. My goal weight at 135 is where I look and feel the best. I will begin focusing on the positive side striving for my ultimate goal! My ultimate goal : become healthier, look great, and feel happy being in my own skin!

Hello! I've done weight watchers multiple times...sometimes successful, sometimes not, but wanted more of an online community. Excited to be here! In the last year, after reading Omnivore's Delimma And In Defense of Food I've cut out all the processed crap and eat a super healthy diet...just too much. I've finally come to terms with the fact eating "Real" is just not enough for me....I've got to get portions under control. So here I am!

Hi! This is the 3rd time I will lose 20 lbs.... The first time was in high school - the 2nd time was 6 months after my wedding in 2008, when I was also dealing with having been laid off. This time I blame long hours at the office (I was so happy to have a job and gave everything - too much) Actually, working 80 hour weeks is only responsible for 10 lbs, the other came from emotional eating after I lost that job, too. I've been employed consistently, but the bouncing around has been stressful. My husband and I have moved a few times because of opportunities that he has wanted to pursue, and now we are finally settled - I think this was our last move, but it's in England, away from friends and family. I noticed I tend to gain about 10 lbs every time we move, and I hoped this time would be different. I've been working out a lot, but I think I need to really pay attention to my diet. I can't wait for our shipping container to get here from new york, so that I can start weighing and measuring my food!

hi all. Returning to SP after getting squidgy again. I lost almost 20 pounds in 2011 and am looking to lose that same 20 pounds again. My goal is to get back into running. I ran 2 half marathons in 2011 and then did nothing for almost 2 years. I just recently relocated to Florida from Colorado and am looking forward to running some of the WDW events in the next year. Using SP to stay motivated and track my calories.

Hello Everyone

I just turned 35 this year and am excited to return to SparkePeople to get back in shape after having two children over the past six years. I had much success with SP (lost 30 lbs) when trying to improve my overall health before my husband and I expanded our family. My goal is not so much related to a target weight but to simply slim down by building lean muscle, increasing my stamina and distance when running and tweaking my diet. I have an entire wardrobe of pre-pregnancy clothes that I would love to dust off and wear before the end of this year. emoticon

Developing healthy habits is something that we have turned into a family affair so my children love working out to DVDs with me at home and we spend lots of time keeping active outdoors.

What I appreciate most about SP is being able to track and review my caloric intake. It is too easy to miscalculate when you try to keep track of everything in your head.

I look forward to sharing with everyone on this team.

ES

Hi!

About 5 years ago I lost 50+pounds with Weight Watchers, the perfect solution for me - at the time. Since then, I have tried off and on to loose the last bit of weight without much success. Earlier this year my physician recommended a weight/BMI by March 2014 and am hoping to reach it here.

Hello,
Just before I had my baby 5 months ago I weighed 105kgs, most of which was fluid retention and 2 weeks post partum I weighed 92kgs. Over the last few months I have worked hard at the gym and have managed to get down to 77kgs. I have now joined spark people for motivation and support to help lose the last 10-12kgs and get back down to my pre pregnancy weight of 65kgs. I literally did "eat for two" when pregnant, but have no regrets as loved every minute of it and can't wait to do it again in the future. For now though, I go back to work in 5 weeks and would love to lose a few more kgs beforehand (so that I can fit into my old work clothes as really don't have the money to buy new ones!).

Currently I do a lot of cardio (running, rowing, bike, elliptical). I know I need to add in resistance training, but I shy away from the weights section every time I'm at the gym. Hoping Spark people can help teach me what to do for resistance training.

Thanks
Meer

Hi Wendy, Nikkki, and Melissa! Welcome to the team!

Melissa, congrats on your upcoming wedding and I hope you find the support to keep you motivated here. I have found SP to be great for accountability, with or without the team support but joining a challenge is a good way to work on something specific and have people rooting for you. :)

Hello there. My name is Melissa. I am just getting started on this, and really need the motivation and accountability. I am getting married in September. Along with the comfortableness of my relationship came the stress of planning a wedding, which in turn added about 10 pounds to my frame....ugh. It also doesn't help that I haven't lived in my city for very long, and have no friends or family nearby to help with the motivation, so I have turned here. I am really hoping for success.

Hello, I'm Wendy! I'm 38 yrs old and hoping to lose about 20 lbs or at the very least tone up my body. I feel like I have no muscle tone whatsoever especially in my legs (no shape there at all anymore). I just joined this site a couple weeks ago and have been busy trying to track my food I eat - which can be quite eye opening at times. I have also begun exercising regularly. Keeping my fingers crossed that I can see results soon - so far I've lost nothing :( - My weight on the scale fluctuates so much I hate to even get on that thing!!

Hello to all my fellow Virginia Sparkers, I pray that this posting finds everyone doing well on this beautiful day. So let me introduce myself...My name is Michael Smith, I am 33 years young and currently reside in Chesapeake. I have been married to my beautiful wife Kristie for 13 years and we have two amazing boys Austin 12 and Aden 9. I joined the Sparks people online community after picking up the book at the local library and it seems like something that I should give a try. The reason that I joined this community is because I am looking to make a change, I currently weight 178 pounds and I want to get down to the 160-165 range. I have actually lost about 10 pounds in the last two months thanks to cutting out the beer and fast foods and having a renew desire to live a healthy lifestyle. This isn't about dieting for me, this is about getting healthy. Instilling Healthy habits to my boys, I am tired of feeling tired, I am tired of not succeeding when I join a program, I am REALLY tired of being a smoker. I know it seems kinda funny that I want to live a healthy lifestyle but I just can't seem to kick the habit. I have tried a couple of times but almost always I find myself starting right back up because of some stressor that triggers the need. One of my goals that I have set up for myself is to be accountable to this program and the people in it. I have the desire and the want, now all I need to do is put this into action. I am asking that this group help me as much as I want to cheer on and help others. I look forward to starting this new part of my life with each and everyone of you. Until next time....

Michael

HI Sara and Lovinglife, welcome!

Lovinglife, I have 3 teenage boys and I can TOTALLY relate to the button pushing stress! lol So glad it's a temporary phase but it takes some amazing strength to hold it together in the meantime. :)

Hello!! I am 38 years old. Looking for some online Friends that have the same interest that I do, which is losing weight! :)

I work full time.

I am a mother of a 15 year old son (who has caused me some stress , because he tries
to push every button, and doesn't try in school the way he should, He barely just passed 9th grade) I am praying he will outgrow this , and start caring about school and his future.

My Mom has Stage 4 cancer we found out before Easter. This is her 2nd time of having
breast cancer. But this time it has spread throughout her body. VERY SAD!

I do have a VERY loving and supportive HUSBAND! For this , I am so THANKFUL to GOD for! He is a true gem!

I have gained about 20 pounds in the last 9 months.

I exercise daily! I eat about 75% Good, Use to be 100% Good! That 25% will add calories and pack on pounds over time! :( Which is exactly what I have done! booo :( )

I don't expect to be perfect! But I would like to get that down to 1% or less of eating unhealthy!
Which in turn will help shed these 20 pounds, and help me fit back into my clothes nicely, not tightly :( Help me have More Engery, and Higher Self Esteem!

Looking forward to hearing from you! :)

Hello! My name is Sara and currently I am 124 pounds (5'1") (although I think I gained a couple over the weekend). I joined Spark People on April 8th and have lost 10 pounds! Hoping to lose 10 more pounds. I am currently doing the Alternate Day Diet and it is working great. I have never had results like this on any other diet before. May was not so great of a diet month though. Had two setbacks, but I am starting fresh on my diet today like it is Day 1! My goal is to be under 120 pounds by the end of the month!

Hi Noelle! Thank you for your military service! I'm afraid it's only going to get hotter...not looking forward to the 5K in June because I know by then it will be 100+ degrees out. Happy summer! lol

Hello, All!

I'm Noelle and I'm here to get healthier and happier! I am currently serving in the military in the sunny state of Arizona...it's so hot here! My goals are to lose 20ish pounds and get stronger and leaner in the process.

I'm always looking for friends in fitness, so let's buddy-up! emoticon

Hi, I'm Cathy. I've been on SparkPeople about two weeks now and am 5 pounds into losing the 20 pounds I need. Its hard to regulate your calories, but its definitely working!

Hi. I am Suzi. I am 36 yo single mom of a teenager. I am new to tracking my food and am somewhat obsessed and abhorrent of this whole idea as I watch it consume me at the present! Ha ha but I am joking emoticon
I was on MyFitnessPal but they don't seem to track nutrition so I wanted something that does it all. And I found SP!
My goal weight is 105 but am not sure if that will end up being a healthy weight for me, but since I am 5'2" I am gonna give it a shot. I am not overweight, but need to tone up. I am dealing with my sciatic nerve and just slammed my knee in the pavement not too long ago so I am probably going for an xray. Kind of sucks for the fitness part as I heard these things take awhile to heal. We'll see more this week.
I love making friends and invite you to come talk anytime! I wish you great strength in reaching your goals. I know you can do it.
Hope you're well.

Hi All, I am Angela. I am 35 years old and currently 143 pounds. My goal weight is 123 but if I weigh more then that and am toned again I'd be happy. I maintained for years and now I am gaining and it's harder to get off. I guess that's what 35 does to a person. My main problem is I can eat A LOT. I don't really have trouble making it to the gym, even tho I work full time and have to go after work. But I eat all the wrong things when I am not in shape mode. My weight really isn't even my issue, because 143 isn't bad. But my body fat percent is super high and that puts me at an almost obese level. So I am unhealthy so I have no choice but to change my habits. I am a mother & a wife and I owe it to my family and myself to take the best care I can of myself.
