I joined in April but fell off the wagon in less than a week. My name is Katherine. I have 110 lbs to lose. I'm trying to make a lot of headway before Xmas when I will go to PA with my little one to see my fiance who is there for work. I'm trying to focus on health and exercise so that I will be a good role model for my son. He's only 1 now, but he definitely mimics all that he sees. I hate the gym so I'm hula hooping for my workouts right now. :)

Hi everyone! My name is Kelly, and this is my second (or third?) attempt at starting SparkPeople. This time it just feels different, and I hope to stay around. The heaviest I've been is 265, this time my start weight was 255, and now I'm down to 247. My ultimate goal weight is to be at 140-150. However, instead of making this my first goal, I've decided to set 10% goals on my way there, with loose time frames. So, my first milestone is to be at 225 around September 24, 2012. I hope to find support here since we all share a common goal of losing 100+ pounds. Good luck everyone!!

Hiyas all! I am new to SparkPeople as of today. I am 23 and at my highest weight ever. I want to turn to a healthier lifestyle and am looking forward to finding motivation from my peers in this journey.

I am currently 390 and am looking at a long-term goal weight of 155. I want to be normal. I miss going on rides at theme parks, going to the movies comfortably, being able to sit in an airplane seat.

My name is Lya. I am 27 years old, single mother. i weigh 317 with a goal weight of 150. its not going to be easy sence im lazy, would rather curl up with a good book than work out. I love nature, so hiking is fun. I live in las vegas, so i cant walk outside that well cus of the heat, I have a problem remembering things, like taking meds, and drinking water. I am addicted to soda, Dr.Pepper mostly. I need alot of suport and friends to help. I hope to be able to help anyone out, and adding my suport, no matter what is wrong.

Hello. My name is Vanessa. I am 26(27 in August) I currently have about 100 lbs to lose. I started out at 290 around August/spetember of last year and am now down to 249. I feel so much better. Still have a ways to go though. I am still heavier now than what I was through both of my pregnancies :-(. I used to eat whenever I was sad or bored, and now have found other ways to work out of my funk, because I realized that the eating like that was only making things worse. I have recently changed my families whole way of eating. My children love the new foods and often ask for more. And now, I dont have to feel bad because it is food that is good for them!! I enjoy that I am able to get around and play with them more now, than what I could a few months ago. Cant wait til I am able to keep up with them for hours!!

Good Morning! My name is Sarah and I am new to SparkPeople as of yesterday. Unfortunately though, I am not new to weight loss lol! That's been an ongoing battle for what seems my entire life! Currently, I am 24 and weigh about 290 pounds. I'd like to be around 140 in the end. Like The_Emmers posted below, I see a lot of my own story in many of the posts on this forum. I've been heavier all my life (although the amount of heavy I am at right now takes the cake!) and I suffer from self worth issues, which I often attempt to alleviate through food. Unfortunately I'm a grad student...low self image comes with the territory, so as you might imagine, I comfort eat a lot. emoticon = emoticon LOL

Well it's time to change that. More than the pounds I need to lose, my goals are to learn to love exercise and crave foods that are good for me. I want to have a baby in the next few years, and I know that any child of mine will likely face the same weight issues that I have. I want to lead by example, so I am making a decision to permanently change my habits/lifestyle. I look forward to meeting all of you and I wish you best of luck in your weightloss journeys!

Hi everyone! My name is Dana and I'm 27 years old and I'm looking to lose 100+ pounds. I've been heavy all my life but it's gotten much worse since college and I find my weight keeping me from doing the things I want to do. Enough is enough! My name is John. I have always had a problem with my weight. When I was in high school I weighed 280lbs. A month ago I weighed 390 lbs. I have started to deal with eaithing healthier and portion size and have managed to lose 15lbs but fear alone I will not beable to continue this trend. Hey everyone :) I'm Sabrina, 24 years old an weigh 268lbs. Being a nurse, I see what happens when one is overweight. Plus, I have missed out on so, so much in life and I'm tired of being the "fat friend". Hello everyone. I am 23 and weigh 330lbs. I have been battling weight-loss for a large portion of my life and was around 230lbs for 4years. Unfortunately, school and working caught up and I stopped exercising and started eating lots of fast food and gained weight at a rapid rate. Hi, everyone! I'm 24 and 266 lbs. I peaked at about 285. It's amazing how much better being 20lbs lighter feels! I can only imagine what I'll feel like after I lose another 110 lbs. I have been overweight since 5th grade or so. I have depression and would binge almost daily. I've gotten this pretty much under control, and I lost 10 lbs last month. I'm beginning to feel like I can actually take this on and start living a healthy life!

Hi everyone, my name is Emily. I'm 28 years old and weigh 292 pounds. Reading through these posts, I recognized a lot of the same things I have been going through: I come from a family with a history of obesity (much of it caused by poverty and the poor nutrition that came from it), deal with depression and self-worth issues, and want to have a baby, but don't feel healthy or fit enough to do so. I am blessed to have a husband that understands what I'm going through (he deals with weight issues too), supports me in my efforts, yet loves me the way I am. At the same time, we can often be bad influences on each other! I'm looking forward to getting to know all of you and supporting you in your efforts to lead healthier lives.

Hi everyone. My name is Jennifer. I have battled my weight since I was 13 years old. I am now 27. I weigh 262 lbs right now. This is the heaviest that I have ever been. I have a daughter who is 1. I am so tired of being uncomfortable in my body and unhealthy. My goal is to lose 102 lbs. I also battle depression. I find that I binge when I am depressed. I have been laid off from my job since December and have had no luck finding a job in our small rural town. This has caused many financial burdens on our family and has also made it more difficult to afford better food choices. I will start doing good with losing weight then people I know will lose huge amounts of weight in a short time. I then get discouraged and eat and then gain back what I have lost. My biggest fear is that being overweight will kill me. I do not want to leave my husband and daughter without a wife and mother. I hope that this site will give me the tools and help that I need to get through this.

Hi everyone! Well, I have over 100 pounds to lose. I am currently around 302. I started having weight issues around the time that I started getting my cycle. Apparently, I have PCOS (polycystic ovarian syndrome) and I have had some major hormones issues. With those hormone issues, I have continually gained weight from depression, pain, and from being a wife, student, and a stressful job. Being an accountant, I rarely stray from my desk. There is finally someone that has been hired in that I can go to gym with and who can motivate me and hold me accountable. I am excited to have someone who is joining me in this weight lose journey.

Hello, my name is Kris. I have roughly 100lbs to lose. I'm at 254 now and would like to get down to 160. I broke my back approx 1yr ago and need to get my weight to a better place to help the injury. I had managed to get down to 200 two years ago, but after moving back home managed to put back on all of the weight I had lost.
I have a few friends who support my decision to loose the weight, but my family isn't as supportive, always encouraging me to join them for take out and junk foods. I was recommended this site from a friend and love the great support this site offers. I can't wait to get to a point where I can keep up with my little niece and not have to worry as much about re-injuring my back.

Hello all! My name is Crystal. Roughly, I have about 100 pounds to lose. I'm 264 now, trying to get down to 160, which is where I was approximately 3 years ago. I have always been a yo-yo dieter, with my weight going up and down constantly. I have always had self esteem/self image issues {stemming mainly from my non-supportive parents} and battles with depression/stress which doesn't help, but within the past year I think I've pushed myself further weight-wise than I've ever been before. This is the heaviest I've ever been. I had a beautiful baby girl named Scarlett last August who is 8 months {almost 9 months} now. The pregnancy was a total surprise for me. Prior to becoming pregnant, I was about 240 pounds. Believe it or not, I only gained 20 pounds the entire pregnancy. After having Scarlett, I almost immediately lost the 20 pounds I had gained while pregnant and THEN some {I wasn't hungry much because of the many medications I was on, and later, between being so preoccupied with the baby and being so tired, I'd literally forget to eat}. At the beginning of September, Scarlett's father Johnny {my ex at the time}, and I had reconciled and got a house together, and I was under the impression that he had really changed his ways and that we were off to a brand new start with our family. It didn't take me long to see that I was wrong. Because I was on maternity leave from my job, he took it as a free pass to pretty much come and go as he pleased, going off fishing and drinking with friends, leaving me home with the baby. I was already suffering from the "baby blues" because I wasn't sleeping and was still trying to get used to the whole mommy thing, but him leaving all the time really sent me into a depression and I ended up turning to food. By the time my 6-week check up doctor's appointment rolled around in October, I had already gained back 10 of the 20 pounds I had lost. Since then, another 14. I'm literally back to the SAME weight I was at when I was pregnant {plus a few extra pounds to boot} -- except now, there's no baby! Just me! LOL. Now I'm literally fed up. As I indicated earlier, my self esteem is like totally shot, so I have been trying to look to friends and family for support to help and encourage me to lose weight. Nothing. My boyfriend is no help, either. Turns out, he's been lying and cheating on me for the last 7 months. You'd think that in itself would be motivation enough, but it's not. All he does is talk about how I used to look when he met me 6 years ago and how "beautiful" and "thin" I was. What he doesn't talk about is how to get there, I literally starved myself, and my diet consisted of salads and diet pepsi. I dropped 40 pounds in 2 months. We don't like to remember that part, of course. We just remember the good stuff, like how I could be shown off in front of friends and talked about. Now I'm hidden away like a troll or something. Because I have a daughter now, I just want to be better physically and emotionally for me and for her. She's going to be walking and running pretty soon, and I don't want to be the fat mom running around the playground to chase her who gets out of breath after only going 2 paces, you know? I'm tired of being this depressed, fat person who has no self confidence. I'm 26 years old. Enough is enough. I don't want Scarlett to see me this way anymore. When she gets older I don't want her to think back and remember her mother as being this fat lady who was mean all the time. So...that's why I'm here. I figure, if I can't give myself a kick in the pants, maybe one of you can? LOL. I seriously need it, and in the worst way. None of my close family or friends wants to help me, so I figure if one of you can help me out, then maybe I'm not such a lost cause after all. I would really appreciate it.

Hi everyone, I am a single mom of four kids, 7,6,2,1. I am 27 and I have 130 lbs to lose and am hoping to do it in a year. When I was in high school I was an athlete and did modeling on the side so I know I am in here somewhere. I have been through &*^% and back, with a pregnancy, marriage, pregnancy, divorce, homelessness, meeting current whatever he calls himself, graduating from college with pregnancy, pregnancy. Just basically not in a good state health wise and emotion wise. I have dieted and have had great success before with losing the weight, but never keeping it off. Something will always come and through me off track or stress me out the point where I just eat and eat and eat. I need the support that people have claimed to have gotten from this site. Hi everyone!! My name is Megan and I am 25 yrs old and I have about 120 lbs to lose. Over a yr ago I had lost a bunch of weight by walking and counting calories and had went from a size 22 to a size 16. I was feeling great and sticking to everything up until I was involved "tramatic" event and after that I put all the weight back and then some. After that and then a horrible break up I decided this yr was the yr of change for me. In the recent months I have tried to find the motivation to get moving and get back on track but cant seem to find it. I was reading an article on yahoo about a mom who was using this site as a tool for weight loss and how she has succeeded. So here I am, I figured I would give it a try!!

Hi everyone! My name is Kim and I have at least over 100 pounds to lose to be where I need to be. I am married to an absolutely amazing man and have a wonderful 3 year old daughter. I have struggled with my weight for my whole life. I want to be able to do the simple things in life without being out of breath. I am in this alone as my husband loves me the way I am. I am a 25 year old married, mother of 2. I have a son who is 5 and a daughter who is 3. I'm sure you all know how much energy kids that age have. Much more than I do. I am working on becoming healthier one step at a time. Tracking my foods EVERY day and working on losing this weight that I've put on over the last 6-7 years. When I graduated high school in 2005 I weighed around 163.. today I weigh 241 which is down from my all time high of 264. I am trying my hardest to lose this weight and could definitely use some weight loss buddies! Oh how I understand what you are going through. I am 28 and I am married to the most wonderful man in the world but I stop him from doing the things I know he wants to do because I cant fit or I am too heavy. It makes me angry when I walk into a bank or office of some kind and I have to stand because I cant fit in the chair. Or the worst was on our second date, we went to a movie and I had to sit in the floor because I couldnt fit in the seat. What a date, how embarrasing. He married me anyway but I know I can be healthier for me and for him. How could I ever have children when I my weight is at 375 that isnt natural and I dont want to put a baby through that. I encourage you to stay strong, I know that the inter sexy, driven women is in there and she WILL come out!!!!!! I am excited for you and for your future, dont give up!!!!!

hello all...I saw this on the runforcookies.com site and decided to give it a try..i have tried about everything else, so why not this too? I joined a gym months ago and lost about 2 lbs, but have gained those back through binge eating..i am so sick of bingeing and having the guilty feeling that comes along with it..i am determined this year to repair myself from the inside out...i want to lose about 150 lbs, but 100lbs would even be nice...i am trying to start small and do a few things weekly like give up soda..I am 27, and a full time nursing student and work part time, so I have NO time..literally..i come from a family of obese people..and i have to change how i eat and my activity levels, or the lack there of, or I am fearful I am going to die before 40...its time i get in control of my own life, so i can really live life..without ANY regrets!!

hi, everyone my name is heidi. I have about 150 lbs. to lose. I am 24 years old and 391 lbs. It hurts me to even write this out. I can't even believe it.However, I am getting married in 2 months. june first, 2012 I will marry the love of my life. and the father of my child. Although I lost the baby in 2010, something I still blame myself for. I was 300 plus lbs. then too. this is part of the reason why I want to loe weight. to be healthier and ensure a healthier pregnancy. and just be all around healthier, in general.
part of my problem is business. I get really busy with life. I am a college student who is also planning her wedding. sometimes exercise isnt my top priority.

Hi everyone,

My name is Christi, I am 28 years old and have about 129 pounds to lose. I think I want to be around 150 pounds at my 5'5" height, but I have been overweight for so long now that I can't really remember a weight at which I was happy.

I have decided that now is the time to lose this weight (for good!) for a few reasons:
1) I just FEEL lousy. I am depressed, anxious, lethargic, insecure... I am tired of being and feeling so unhealthy! I will be 30 in less than a year and a half and I want my 30s to be better than my 20s because if I just face the facts, I have not really "lived" yet.
2) I am in crazy, stupid, head over heels love with a man who embodies fitness and healthy living to the max. He can tell me he loves me for me, he just wants me healthy and happy, etc... but I see the girls he glances at when we are at the gym. I would be naive to think that a man with a body builder physique who hits the gym 6 days a week doesn't want an equally attractive partner. I want to give my inner sexy, fit, wild, confident self to him.
3) I want to be able to do whatever I want to do. I recently made a "bucket list" of things I want to do before I die and I realized that the ONLY thing holding me back from actually doing them is my insecurity about my weight. Ok, maybe finances are stopping me from visiting Austrailia. But cage diving with sharks, nope, won't get into a wetsuit. Ziplining, nope, too heavy for the cable. I can feel this active, energetic, exciting person in me dying to get out!
4) I would love to shop in "regular" stores, wear colors other than black, and dress like my inner trendy, cute, fun self wants to. Dresses, heels, adorable tops, colors... be still my heart! Swapping clothes with friends, or even just shopping with them, that would be a first because all of my friends are small.

I could honestly go on and on and on about all of the things I want when I'm skinny. But basically, I want a chance at being ME. I can see my REAL self hiding inside of this blubbery exterior that I have created through binge eating when I am depressed. I am ready to be let out of my cage so I can actually experience this thing called life!

Looking forward to getting to know some of you that may want the same types of things. :)

Hi my name is Tiffany and this is. My first time joining a web site such as this. My best friend is getting married in a 6 months and she asked me to be the maide of honor. After going dress shopping for the first time with her it was discouraging to see that I couldn't try any of the ones in the store on because none of them carried my size. That was about four months ago and I weight roughly 265 lbs. Since then I started eating better and doing a lot more exercise and I've lost about thirty five pounds but now I find myself being discouraged once again. Long term, I want to be around 125-135 pounds and I have a long way to go. Short term, I just want to be able to buy a brides maid dress without having to pay extra for the bigger sizes.

Hi everyone, I'm Patricia.

I joined SP because I have noticed my eating habits have been awful and I have hit my all time high of 291lbs. Completely not cool. My reasons are the usual: stressful job, not making good choices, not exercising, etc.

So now I'm here, completely ready to dedicate myself to... well myself. :-)

Hello, guys and gals! My name is Meg. I'm 27 and currently weight 257lbs. Eventually I would like to get down to the ideal weight for my height (at 5ft 1in, that appears to be about 125) but I'm working on 150 first! I used to be a member of spark and deleted my account after becoming frustrated with my lack of time to keep up (bad situation at a bad job) but a lot has changed since then. I'm still busy, but at a great job and taking classes to better myself academically and professionally, now I have to work on the physical, too!

Hi everybody. I'm Ashley, I'm 28 and a mom of 2 daughters. I have always been overweight. To be honest I don't remember a day beyond grade school that I was skinny. I was always the "fat girl". Hi my name is Janine.

I am married and my DH and I are currently undergoing fertility treatment which means I have to lose weight!

I currently weigh 248.4.lbs and started a few days ago at 252lbs.

My goal is to reach 130lbs which seems very daunting right now.

I've honestly never thought of myself as fat until fairly recently when I had to undergo two spinal surgeries and now I have to deal with chronic lower back pain. Interestingly my health has gone really downhill in the last year and I have had to take a long hard look at myself and realise that yes I am fat and yes I would like to be thin and a mom. I also suffer from PCOS which makes losing weight even more of a challenge but I think that it's time for me to take up the challenge and have a brighter healthier future.

I look forward to cheering you all on and meeting others who are in the same boat.

My name is Alysa, said like (Uh-Lee-Suh). I only do that because I've met people from these types of sites before and they said Alyssa. Oh well, something I've dealt with for the past 22 years of my life.

Honestly, I don't remember a day when I wasn't bigger than other people, and I want to change that. I don't want to be skinny. I just want to be healthy. I currently weight 250 pounds, and at my 5'0'' height, I should be around 100-130. No, I don't want to look like Snooky...or Snookie. (however you spell her name. haha)

So I'm finally getting started in the right direction. I'm starting my yoga plan this morning, and eating healthy to go along with it. Hopefully by next week, I will be starting my cardio.

I hope that I can be a support person for you, because after reading even two of the posts on here, you are all supportive and I LOVE IT! I would love to be friends with all of y'all.

Hello! My name is Kit and I am obviously new here. I'm 25 years old and have been on my weight loss journey for about 6 months with a total of about 20 pounds lost via Weight Watchers. I will be using both WW and SP in hopes that the combination of the two will help me be successful.

I currently weight 274lbs and have a goal of 140lbs. My biggest obstacles are going out to eat for lunch during work and motivating myself to exercise. I am getting back into Bellydancing and am starting Zumba and Kickboxing, so hopefully, since I enjoy those things, I will stay motivated to stick with them. As for eating out, well, I just need to start bringing my own lunch and stick to it.

I'm looking forward to getting to know everyone and working with everyone toward our mutual success!

Hi, my name is Kori, I'm 21 (22 in a month) and I currently weigh 268 lbs. I haven't really been thin since I was in the single digits, but my weight rapidly fluctuated between 220 and 170 while I was in high school (as a result, I now have a bajillion stretch marks). Since I have been out of high school, I have gotten married to the most wonderful person on the planet, AND gained somewhere around 50 lbs.

My goal is to have my body fat percentage below 32% by the middle of next year. Both my husband and I are getting in shape to join the Army, and even if my weight isn't where it needs to be, I can at least focus on getting my body fat percentage into the healthy range.

Hey everyone, I'm Ann and I'm a 22 year law student. I have been struggling with my weight as long as I can remember. At my heaviest, I was 340 at only 5'5. I weighed in at 329 as of yesterday. I really would love to be under 200 pounds in a year. I have so much going on for me, and I feel like my weight is hindering me. I just got the news from my doc that if I want to have children, I will have to lose weight. Like everyone knows, being overweight is an obstacle when it comes to that aspect. I am 27 and have managed to expand up to 280lbs when I wasn't looking. Depression and anxiety (and the meds that go with them) helped to lead my down a path of mindless eating. And my 32 year old boyfriend's teenage diet doesn't help!! But I want to make changes, and to do that, I need to make exercise a habit. I KNOW it makes a huge difference with the depression... But the depression makes me just not care! I have rejoined SP after a couple of years away. One small step toward the rest of my life.
