Hi I am Carli. I am a 28 year old wife and mom to two kids (5 and 3). I started my weight loss journey at 240lbs last year and found my way down to 230lbs by the new year but I wasn't really putting my all into it. This year I decided to get serious and have lost 29lbs since starting with SparkPeople in february and currently weigh 201 (I'm almost in Onederland!!!!). I am very committed to the idea of community and I think we are all in this together. I do a daily video blog to hold myself accountable to my Sparkfriends and I am up for getting the most out of the Spark community :)

Hey there! My name is Lauryn. I'm 24 and about to graduate with my ba in communications studies from Cal State Fullerton. I work full time writing contracts, intern at the local visitor's center, and on my days off I enjoy spending time with my partner (Ryan) and our new puppy dog Ellie. I love adventures, camping, walks, and well food. lol I kind of sound like my dog! Right now I'm trying to get back to a healthy weight and enjoy everything in moderation. Hi all! I'm a 25-year-old, currently in the last semester of my MA degree. I go to grad school and live in Belgium. Having my 'big' graduation in September (where I'll become 'Master of Arts in Philosophy'), I've decided it's time to make some changes and get fit. I've always been self loving, no matter what my shape was, but I guess the best self love is loving myself enough to get in shape.

I'm looking to loose about 60 pounds, although it's been so long ago that I've had that weight, I don't know if it's feasible. Also, I'm Dutch: and thus quite tall (5'9). Long story short, if I manage to loose 40 pounds and end up in great shape, that's great too.

I've had one successful attempt in the past, around 6 years ago, when working out daily (and having an active lifestyle - I worked in a bar at the time) enabled me to loose about 15 pounds. However, since that day I'm sure many many many pounds have been added (to my belly, mostly).

I hope joining a forum, and especially with people in the same age category as I am, will help the weight loss mission to succeed this time!

Hello! I am a 25 year old stay-at-home mother of two boys, 3 and 1. I taught elementary school for two years before moving to the other side of the country for my husband to attend Dental school.

I have always been on the heavier side but after having two kids I am at my heaviest yet and so miserable with my body. I would like to have at least one more child but not until I get healthy. I am super motivated to get in shape and stay in shape.

Hello! I am someone who has always been on the heavier side, through high school I was active and played soccer, and then college happened and I gained weight, and then after college I settled down with my boyfriend (now husband) and gained even more. It doesn't help that I work a desk job over 40 hours in a week.

I am one of those people who always says 'tomorrow will be the first of being healthy', after trying that several times, I'm now determined to start NOW and make it stick. I'm hoping by being in this environment it will find support and motivation to stick with a better lifestyle. emoticon

Hi everyone! I'm Julie. I'm 28 and have been on Sparkpeople for 2 weeks. So far I have lost 8 pounds. I haven't been working out as much as I hope to, but have been doing decently well on eating better and reducing soda. As of Monday, I decided to cut out soda completely, which is definitely difficult. I'm planning on doing Turbofire, beach volleyball, hula hooping, and maybe Insanity and P90X on the occasion.

I would write more, but I need to eat something before meeting my boyfriend at the gym. :)

hey everyone!

i'm emily, soon to be 23 year old with a goal of 199, leaving me w 71 pounds to lose!

i've been overweight since i was a kid and have lost and gained weight over the years. this is the heaviest i've ever been and while it hasn't taken a toll on my health, it has on my self esteem. i've been feeling extremely uncomfortable in my body for the past few months and now i'm finally making a change.

every weight loss advice article i've read says you need a support system, so here i am! i'd love to have someone to text (if you feel comfortable) or maybe add on snapchat or facebook so we can be a consistent form of support and communication.

Good morning everyone!

I am not new to Sparkpeople, but I've been on and off the map for some time now. I decided it was time to get my life together and created a new account about a week and a half ago.

I am almost not a 20-something anymore. I turned 29 this year. emoticon

I've been married 8 years next month and have 4 amazing kids (even if they drive me nuts sometimes), between the ages of 9 and 4 (also next month). I'm a stay-at-home mom and a writer.

I have between 67 and 87 pounds I'd like to lose over the next year. I recently took up running again, I love yoga and getting my ass kicked by Jillian Michaels. I married into a martial arts family and would love to be able to take up Brazilian Jiu Jitsu this summer, too. I want to run a couple *real* 5K races, too.

We love playing sports - my kids dance, play soccer, softball/baseball and we're going to give basketball a shot this year, too.

As active as we seem to be, I'm really lazy and I like to eat. I'm busy, so we tend to get fast food and/or pizza, which we proceed to eat like it's our last meal.

I'm learning to pack meals to take with us and plan my meals in advance, as well as making exercise a regular, every day thing. Instead of sitting at my son or daughter's practice, we bring our own balls along and play. We have practice time at home when we have a spare weekend.

I want to take them camping and hiking and fishing this summer.

Anyway, sorry for the rambling. I'm going to try to stay active in my groups this time and I'm ready to reach my goals for real this time. For real and for good. I'm not getting younger and my kids still have a lot of life left that I need to be there for.

Hey y'all! I'm Kristin.

This is my first time trying something like Sparkpeople out, so I'm hoping it works! I have completely let myself go since high school, so now I have about 80 lbs to lose. To think I thought I was fat then!

I'm a SAHM to a 4 year old who I can't keep up with anymore, so this is option A to get back to being a better mom and (almost) wife. I seriously want a wedding dress that doesn't go up to an 18, and with only a year left, I need to get on this! I'm so happy I'm not alone on this journey, so thank you all for being here!

Hello, everyone! I'm Jake, I'm new here.
I was on Spark a few years ago, and lost over 90 pounds.
Then I moved and got a new job, and I had no time to keep up with things.
Now I'm in a place where I have the ability to do so again.
I was able to maintain 200 pretty well, and I was happy with that.
I just found out my sister is having another kid, and I decided it's time that I lose a little bit more, and get in an easier shape to be an active aunt.

Hi everyone,

I'm Nicole, 25 years old with a broken ankle. My weight has gone way up since breaking it and I'm trying to get back in the game. I weigh 270, but two years ago I was 175. I don't know what happened but I need to get my life back! My biggest problem is food, I'm a sugar junky. hi, my name is Amanda. I'm 27 with about 80 pounds I'd like to get rid of. I've done Spark People before when I was 19/20 and lost 42 pounds, was working out every day, eating healthy... then my husband and I had a baby and that's when the weight gain set in and never seemed to want to leave. My baby is now 6 and I'm out of excuses. I'm hoping to get back into the swing of things but have been having the absolute hardest time since becoming a mom.

Hey Everyone, I'm Stephanie. I am currently a full-time student and working part-time as well. I've had trouble with my weight for as long as I can remember. I am 20 years old, 5'2 and at around 200 - 210 lbs (could be a little more, I don't know to be exact). I was always aware with how much bigger I was than other people but I kind of just accepted it because that's how I was my whole life. I would always think about weight loss but can never get myself to do it because it's just a difficult thing to do by yourself. There is no support I can get from home or friends because no one here is struggling the way I am. They don't feel the way I feel so it's hard to get them to understand or commit the way I want/wish to. This is the farthest I've gotten with the idea of weight loss (joining an online forum thing). I don't know how to get started, not with the whole "start small, change one habit, change one meal" thing but more of getting myself to actually do it because I've accepted it for so long.

TLDR; Currently 20 years old, 5'2, 200-210lbs. Goal: around 120-139. Can't start, don't know how.

Hi everyone. My name is Katherine. I am 23 years old. I am currently working part time at a local coffee shop where I love and and in school part time to become a Dental Assistant. I haven't always had issues with my weight, I really started to pack on the pounds in high school. Though others say that they think I look fine and don't need to lose weight I do not feel the same way. I not only want to look better but I also want to feel better about myself. I want to be able to go out and walk 3 or 4 miles like I use to without feeling like I'm about to die. I know I have a long way to do go but it is something I do not want to give up on.

Hi!

I'm Rachel, and I'll be 25 this summer. This is round 3 (or 4?) on SparkPeople for me because I have failed to follow through so much in the past. That's not an option this time. I am determined to reach my goal, no matter how long it takes!

There are plenty of reasons for me to live healthier, but my biggest obstacles have been making time for exercising and having accountability. My grandmother was just recently diagnosed with Type 2 Diabetes so she is working on being more intentional about her health. Hopefully, between working with her and finding some weight loss buddies here, I'll be able to make some real progress this time!

Hi all. I'm new here. I'm 28 and I'm wanting to lose 50lbs. I was diagnosed with congestive heart failure and I already have type 2 diabetes.
My goal is to lose weight and exercise to improve my heart strength and lower my A1c. I've lost 17lbs with diet changes. I need to lose 50 more, although the last 20 are for vanity reasons.
I've never been able to lose the weight before, but I do want to longer and be a good wife and hopefully a mother some day.
My doc did lift all activity restrictions on my last visit, so I am able to workout.

Hi everyone!

I'm Brooke and I'll be 27 in two weeks! I downloaded the SparkPeople app over a month ago and I've become much more aware of what I'm eating and how active I wasn't.

I actually started really working out because I quit smoking 34 days ago and I needed a way to get through the after work cravings at night. I'm so glad I turned to the gym because I really enjoy exercising for the first time in my life.

Now I love reaching my calories burned goals and even exceeding them most weeks. I have a goal of 320 minutes each week which is about 2300 calories but I have about 80 lbs to lose so I'm really trying to go for 3500 calories a week since that's a pound of fat. I usually stay within my 1200-1500 calories eaten range and I really try to watch everything about what I'm eating, not just the calories.

I'm not really seeing results yet but I can't get on the scale, I have to go by the way my clothes fit. I have been in recovery from eating disorders for two years this month and getting on the scale is a major trigger. Being in recovery is actually why I've gained so much weight. I had to learn to live with out starving myself or throwing up everything. I rediscovered food and ate whatever I wanted for a year and a half. But now it's time to get to a healthy weight (the right way) and maintain that.

I was really only doing cardio the first three weeks so I think that might be the reason I'm not feeling like I'm losing weight. This week I started the 30 day jumpstart your workout challenge and I'm on day 4. I'm hopeful that by incorporating some strength training into my workouts, I will start seeing results.

On another note, I love that SparkPeople has a way to connect people that are going through the same thing. I would love to find some weight loss buddies on here, so if anyone that takes the time to read this would like to connect just message me!

Anti-depressants are such a pain. I've been taking some combination or another since right around 3rd grade. Most just made matters worse. It wasn't until I found a psychiatrist willing to actually treat me as bipolar instead of just having depression that we worked out all the kinks. Now it's just the matter of figuring the best way to fit the weight loss in with that combination.

Hi, my name is Natalie I'm 24 from Stoke-On-Trent and I have 89 pounds to lose. Last year I managed to lose a stone and half but after a stint on Mirtazipine I put it all back on plus a stone extra. I'm now awaiting therapy for my depression but I'm off anti-depressants as the side effects were making me feel worse. I'm hoping that losing weight will bring back the old much happier me and help me become a better wife and mother.

Hi, everyone!

I'm Ro, and I've been on my journey for over a month now. It's been a wild ride the past couple of years, I've tried over and over again to lose weight, but it just never works for whatever reason. Three years ago in July, I got really sick after working out 6 days a week for like 5 months. The doctors could not figure out what was going on with me, and I had to stop all exercise. For the next 3 months, I lived on applesauce and bread. Finally, in September, I got severely ill and ended up in the ER, where they did emergency surgery to remove my gallbladder, and ever since then I've been dealing with digestive issues. Now, I'm finally feeling good. My anti-depressants have been finally adjusted to a dose that is good for me. I have energy and feel great enough to work out. The downside of all my issues is that I now have about 90 lbs to loose. I hope to find inspiration and friends that understand the struggle here.
