Hey everybody! My name is Kelly. I'm 23, and live in Ohio.

My weight has been an up and down roller coaster since I started high school back in '08. Then, I was in the upper 190's. I joined Cross Country and got down to 170 by the time I graduated, but had some serious health issues recently and shot right back up to a little over 200.

My goal right now is 155. Before that sports physical in 9th grade, I hadn't stepped on a scale since elementary school, so I don't remember ever being a normal weight at an adult height. I have so many reasons to lose, but lack consistency. Sparkteens was my place back in high school. Here's to hoping Sparkpeople is the same now!

Hello everybody! I'm Abby, and I'm 24 years old. My starting weight is 205 lbs, and my goal weight is 150 lbs. I started exercising earlier this year for about 3 months or more I weighed 220 lbs however 3 months later I just stopped, I gave up. Hi, I'm Courtney and I live in MN. I'm 22 years old and just finished getting my Social Work degree! I'm really hoping to be able to get to a healthy weight and point in my life. My dad was diagnosed with diabetes when he was my age and I really want to try and avoid that as best as I can! Hi, my name is Rachel. I live in New York City with my fiance. I work full-time at a college and also teach part-time. Until last summer, I was also a student taking night classes. I have been working to lose weight and get healthier since the end of June. So far I've lost 30 pounds and have decided to join this group because I have a lot more to go. Hey!

I'm Ryan and I'm 26. I could really use a weight loss accountability buddy. I lost about 20 pounds but re-gained all of the weight back. I feel horrible but trying to get back into the routine that helped me lose weight.

I started a new job in an entirely new area and it's been stressful. I just want to get back into my old routine so I can feel better.

Hi Everyone!

I've been on a conscious weight loss effort for years. I've never actually made it to a goal, I've fallen off the wagon many times, but I still try to stay conscious of what I'm eating. I've gained quite a bit of weight recently (school is hella stressful) and really want to get back on a real plan to lose weight.

I yo-yo a lot in weight but I've managed to permanently stay 35 lbs less than my original weight (since starting back in 2012) but I have 88+lbs to lose still.

I'm hoping to maybe make a weight loss buddy to make the experience easier.

Hi everyone. As my clothing was starting to get tight I decided to step on the scale for the first time in a long time and realized the number was much higher than I wanted to see. I'm in my early twenties, in a combined undergrad/grad program. To get to a healthy weight for my height I need to lose about 80 pounds, but I'm starting with a smaller goal of 50 pounds. My goal for week one is to just get in the habit of tracking my food to see what my eating habits look like now.

Good Day everyone!!! I am ChicadeBella...I started sparkpeople at the age of 21yrs old...since then and even before 21yrs old, I was struggling with my weight, self-image, and eating. Now at the age of 28yrs, I have decided to stop frowning at what I didn't do concerning my health and just take responsibility for my bad food choices that has placed me at such an unhealthy BMI. So now, I am doing my thing...sparkpeople, fitgirlsguide, and just taking it one day at a time to develop a healthy habit and become consistent. So far so good, except for today's craving of flaming hot Cheetos and dark chocolate (weird but nice combo lol)...Well, God's Blessings to everyone! We all can reach our fitness goals with Jesus' help! Stay Focus and put in the hard work...it truly does pay off!
P.S: I am still holding strong against that craving! Hopefully it goes away soon

Hi! My name is Ally. When I got married, 3 years ago, I was at my heaviest weight, which was 270 lbs. My husband, also at his heaviest, was over 350. We gradually began making changes to our diet ( We stopped buying junk food, almost completely cut out red meats, fried things much less) and changed how much we eat. ( The concept of pre-portioning our meals hadn't come to us yet so we ate the entire package of whatever we cooked, whether it was a package of bacon, or a box of cookies... Dont even get me started on the amount of soda we drank) Now I weigh 207 lbs, my husband is down to 254. In 7 lbs, I will be the lightest I've been since I graduated HS. We are now starting to exercise by walking every day and doing strength training/ yoga on alternating days. We're really looking forward to the way our bodies will feel once we have this extra baggage off.

Hi SCENICTRAIN! Way to go on taking the first step- determining to DO something. I understand your story, I was there for years. A couple tips if you are just starting out and have never tried to lose weight before: (1) WHAT do you DRINK? The first time I tried losing weight, I lost 40 lbs. in 2 months just by this principle: A large glass of water when you wake up & before going to bed, no soda, a regular (6-8oz) glass of water w every meal and BEFORE I let myself drink anything else. (2) KNOW that YOUR body is UNIQUE. What worked for someone else might not work for you. Don't pay too much attention to the different types of diets (Atkins, South Beach, Paleo, low-carb, no-meat, low-fat, low/no-sugar, etc.). Work on the basics of healthy eating, it will take some time to find what your body needs. I have to give up almost all carbs (like bread, pasta, white potatoes). My friend has to give up sugar and sweets. Start by making sure whatever you eat is at least 50% veggies and fruits and go from there. Experiment w new ones. (3) Don't give up! You can do it! Have fun w/ it!

I'm 28 years old, 84 kg heavy which is abt 170 lbs and this is my first day too. I've always been the overweight girl too and tried so much to loose weights with little success so I hear you and know how you feel. Like you I'm also hoping that this time I wld be able to reach my goal weight which is 120 lbs by december. All what I want to tell you is that I hope you reach your goal and applaud you for taking matters into hand. A peace of advise is your right to keep it a secret I've found that telling things has the weired effect of letting your goal drift away so keep it to your self and work hard for that great surprise 😃👍

I am a 23 year old female. I am just now trying to actually lose weight. I've always been the one who is overweight and knows it, and is unhappy with it but doesn't change anything. Sometimes I think that I'm secretly hoping for a miracle and to just wake up smaller one day. It's time for me to take control of my actions, and just do this! I am currently around 185 lbs. I would like to be 165 before my birthday in December. No one knows I am trying to lose weight and be healthy; I would like to surprise myself and my family/friends. Hi! My name is Jenn I'm 29 yrs old. I have over 70 pounds to loose.
This is probably my 3rd or 10th attempt to loose weight. I've always said I want to be healthy for the future which is true but it's obviously not motivated me.
My weight has gotten too much because my body is beginning to physically hurt e.g. sore ankles. I might now be ready to finally loose weight.

Hey everyone! I'm new to this site so I hope I'm writing in the thread correctly!

I'm cail, I'm 25 and looking to lose 60 pounds or so. This is the largest I've been - I used to be pretty active and maintained a healthy weight so it's frustrating to think and know that I've let it get this bad. I really want to make changes toward a healthier lifestyle again, but I'm sure as many of you can relate, it's not as easy as it sounds. My biggest struggles are with nutrition and staying motivated. Hello Y'all my name is Jordan. I am 25 years old. I am new to all of this so please bare with me. I have a great support system at home, but I have PCOS so it is very hard for me to lose weight so I figured it would not hurt to try this and see what happens. May 2017 is the big wedding day so I need to get off my butt and start this weight loss journey for my big day. I started with the gym a few months ago, however June 22nd I had to have surgery on my ankle since I decided to fall down my stairs at home one morning I ruptured one ligament and completely tore 2 others. So with that I attend physical therapy 3 times a week. Starting on Monday I will be going back to work. So with all of this it has been very struggling for me and I have noticed I have been eating a lot more. I am hoping when I go back to work on Monday I can get back into my routine. Of course I can not work out at the gym but I can start going back and use the pool as my workout which HEY at least it is something. My therapist wants to get more motion and more movement in my ankle before she will feel comfortable with me going fully back to the gym. I was wondering if anyone ever had surgery on their ankles and did some kind of workout. I am not sure what I can and can not do. Of course I am so stubborn with my ankle feeling better I want to just GO! But of course I have to take a step back and not do that because I can not afford to re-injure my ankle especially with the wedding slowly but quickly coming up. I have also found out that trying to lose weight with planning a wedding is a challenge in itself so throwing surgery into the mix does NOT help at all! I can really use a lot of support with this journey and maybe a few friends to keep me accountable and just more of a motivation support!

Thank you for reading all of this I know it is a lot. But that's what this site and program is for!

Hi. I'm Julie. I just re-did my account after who knows how long of inactivity. I need to lose 69 lbs to get back to a healthy BMI. However, I plan on working out and building some muscle so I suspect I will end up as thin as I want to be while not quite meeting my weight goal (which is ok by me).

I have a friend who is going to be my workout buddy when I get out of Physical Therapy, but I would love to have a buddy on here as well to keep me accountable for my goals.

Hi everyone!!! I'm super excited to have found this site and now this group. I'm 26 years old and hoping to begin my journey of losing 90lbs. I'm super positive, energetic, and I love helping and meeting new people.

Hello, my name is Drea. I stumbled upon Spark People a few years ago, but, unfortunately, fell off the wagon. I'm determined that now, after hating myself for allowing all of the weight gain, that I will stick with my goals and better my life. My boyfriend and I just recently moved to Bismarck, North Dakota- far away from our family and friends in Arizona- and I've found it very difficult being away from them. I hope to get the ball rolling again and begin living a more active lifestyle to boost my self confidence and have a happier and healthier life. :)

Hello Everyone,

Hi everyone! My name is Sara and I'm Spanish, 27. This is not the first time I try to lose weight but it's the very first one I really took it seriously. I don't want just to lose weight, I want to be healthy too. So I'm trying to eat better, sleep more (that is going to be a little harder but I'm working on it too) and I'm even going to the gym. I just want to feel good and comfortable with my own body and myself, and I'm so glad I've found this community! :)

Hi All -

I joined Spark several years ago, but never really used it. But it's time I got it together and start this journey again! I'm more uncomfortable than anything else and looking to change that. I'm at the very end of my 20s so I only have a couple months left in this group! I just moved back home after living out of state for 7 years. Eating a lot more at home which is GREAT since fast food has been a dear friend to me.

Hope to be able to get some great advice from you all and obviously support!

Hi all!

I'm going to re-introduce myself since I made a new account and re-joined Sparkpeople. Hi everyone! I'm Alice, I'm a graduate student in music, and looking to get healthier this summer and hopefully keep it going into the year.

I was doing really well last year until I got really sick, RIGHT before school started up at the end of the summer... and then with recovering, a new school year, and lots of work, things just fell to the wayside.

Either way, I remember this group being a great help, so I'm happy to be here again. I look forward to getting to know everyone!

Hello!

I am completely new to this website, but not to attempts in trying to get healthy and lose weight. My attempts thus far have been more like a roller coaster. I go down.. but then I go up.

Erm.. my name is is Alicia and I am.. a student. I am currently working towards getting a bachelors degree, but it has been a slow process as well. But I am almost there. It has been my main priority for a long while, as well as other things. I do have issues with making myself and my health a priority and will probably need a lot of help in this area.

Hello, My name is Brandie I'm 22 and married. I've been on sparks people before but never actually used it.. I've decided recently enough is enough, I've been really good at making excuses as to why "tomorrow" or "next week" was always going to be the day I was going to make change. I've become someone I've never wanted to be so I am now pushing the excuses out of the way and pushing myself. I want to do this for my marriage and most importantly for myself. Hello!

I've been on and off the Sparkpeople wagon several times. I've managed to lose a little bit of weight on here but always gained it back.

I have a membership at the YMCA. I'm planning on going to Zumba classes from 8:30 - 9:30 AM Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. I work from 11:00Am - 5:00 PM Monday - Friday so I'm hoping to set up a routine, or at least develop healthy habits over the summer that way they just come naturally when school starts up again.

Hi I am Carli. I am a 28 year old wife and mom to two kids (5 and 3). I started my weight loss journey at 240lbs last year and found my way down to 230lbs by the new year but I wasn't really putting my all into it. This year I decided to get serious and have lost 29lbs since starting with SparkPeople in february and currently weigh 201 (I'm almost in Onederland!!!!). I am very committed to the idea of community and I think we are all in this together. I do a daily video blog to hold myself accountable to my Sparkfriends and I am up for getting the most out of the Spark community :)

Hey there! My name is Lauryn. I'm 24 and about to graduate with my ba in communications studies from Cal State Fullerton. I work full time writing contracts, intern at the local visitor's center, and on my days off I enjoy spending time with my partner (Ryan) and our new puppy dog Ellie. Hi all! I'm a 25-year-old, currently in the last semester of my MA degree. I go to grad school and live in Belgium. Having my 'big' graduation in September (where I'll become 'Master of Arts in Philosophy'), I've decided it's time to make some changes and get fit. I've always been self loving, no matter what my shape was, but I guess the best self love is loving myself enough to get in shape.

I'm looking to loose about 60 pounds, although it's been so long ago that I've had that weight, I don't know if it's feasible. Also, I'm Dutch: and thus quite tall (5'9). Long story short, if I manage to loose 40 pounds and end up in great shape, that's great too.

I've had one successful attempt in the past, around 6 years ago, when working out daily (and having an active lifestyle - I worked in a bar at the time) enabled me to loose about 15 pounds. However, since that day I'm sure many many many pounds have been added (to my belly, mostly).

I hope joining a forum, and especially with people in the same age category as I am, will help the weight loss mission to succeed this time!
