Hello! My name is Jamie. I'm 23, and I recently discovered I have high cholesterol levels, and that some hormonal and joint issues I have would be somewhat significantly reduced by losing weight. I guess sometimes it takes a little scare to finally get motivated, but regardless of the reason, I'm finally ready to put the work in and get healthy. Nice to meet you all!

Hi Elizabeth! So glad to have you aboard our team.
I also struggle with my sweet tooth. I've found that it's really easy for me to eat the fun-size candy bars without going overboard and that I don't necessarily have to have the king sized version. I also really love the 90 calorie chocolate chunk granola bars from Wal-Mart. Just be sure to budget your daily calories so you can enjoy a sweet without feeling like you're blowing your diet.
You can't deprive yourself of sweets entirely; otherwise, you're only setting yourself up for disappointment when you eventually binge. For me, it's all about mind over matter. I tend to think of myself as a very strong-willed person, and when I realized that food had completely taken over my life, I decided to take a stand and join Sparkpeople.
You can do this!

Hi, My name is Elizabeth and I just started trying to lose weight. I am 26 years old and I am going to graduate from college this year. I recently decided that I had to do something about the fact that I weighed 200 lbs and I am only 5ft 4in since type 2 diabetes runs in my family. I now weigh 192 lbs, but I want to keep my self motivated so I am excited about joining sparkpeople. Any help with figuring out how to satisfy my large sweet tooth without going overboard on calories would be much appreciated!

Welcome new team members!
The best way to start losing weight is... being active on this website! Utilize the food tracker, make sure you log your exercise minutes, keep track of how many glasses of water you had, and take advantage of the 14 day free trial of the Sparkcoach. It's a great way to jumpstart your efforts.
Also, remember that this is a marathon, not a sprint. YOU CAN DO THIS, and YOU WILL DO THIS if you hold yourself accountable.
So glad to have new team members, and I'm looking forward to reading about your progress!

Hi Everyone! My name is Heather, I am 27, happily married, and I have a rotten almost 2 year old. I went to the doctor last week and got a pretty good wake up call that I am not eating right or taking care of my body properly. I have tried to lose weight using diet programs but I just can't seem to stick to them. My doctor suggested this site and I am so happy to have found somewhere that I can get the help I need with meal planning as well as motivation from others in the same place I am!

Hi everyone! My name is Felicia & I'm 27 years old. I'm SO excited that there is a group for all of us in our 20s, sometimes it is hard to relate to the older folks even if we're all in this together. My #1 thing I'm most looking forward to once I'm healthier is spending full time at my dance studio again. It's my absolute favorite thing & it's been hard to keep up with everyone in class when you're feeling slooooow & sluggish behind everyone. Looking forward to being a part of this great support system here!

Hello all. My name is Mallory and I'm 24. I am a recent graduate of UNCW with my Bachelors in Social Work. I love my job and look forward to going to work everyday. I am engaged and getting married on 04/13/13 to the man of my dreams. He is absolutely incredible and that if how I was to feel on my big day. My biggest struggle is going to be time management. I rarely getting home at the same time everyday and have a hard time keeping a workout schedule. I've lost 30 lbs. in the past only to find them again and now that I can do it again.

Hello~ I'm 26 and a mother of a two year old. I really want to have more energy for her and be less lazy. When she wants to go outside I don't want to feel like it's a huge effort to get off the couch. I weigh 320 and I couldn't believe that I gain 20 pounds this year alone. I need to change my eating habit. I realised this after I finished eating a whole pumpkin pie. When we get pizza, I should only have a piece or two instead of half the pizza. I could even drink a 2L of soda in a day. It's nasty when I think about it. I want to change for my daughter so she won't fallow in my foot steps! I'm doing Zumba and sighning Izzy, my daughter, up for tiny tots!!! Hope I stick with it this time!!!

My name is Sarah, I'm 22 and a full time student. I've decided to finally get my weight under control (because I expressed an interest in it, and now my boyfriend is bribing me to lose 2 pant sizes by mind/end of January)
My issue is eating. I over eat, binge and eat for emotions. I'm getting better about working out and I'm finding I do enjoy parts of it. I'm hoping that if I find an active team, like this one seems to be, I'll be able to stay on track and get into better habits regarding what and how I eat.

My name is Heather. I am 25 years old and I have decided to take charge of my health and weight. I have tried to become healthier many times before but I have reached 200 pounds and I have decided that enough is enough! I am ready to make changes!
My biggest issues are (probably obvious ones) eating and exercise. I love to eat and I tend to get lazy when it comes to working out. I need help staying motivated to keep working out, especially when I come home after a rough day of work (I am a substitute teacher) and just want to sit down and relax and not move.

Hey everyone! My names Kate and I am nearing the end of my 20's too....... oh so sad. In fact 2 weeks from today I will be turning 28 - Lord help me! One of my goals in the beginning of 2012 was to lose some serious weight. I did well for a while, since that's what I typically do, but then I fell of the wagon post Cruise in May. I basically gave up and I'm now paying the heft price for it.
I am on a mission to lose some serious poundage and to finish 2012 with a BANG. I love that there is a Spark team for us "20 somethings" and I'm looking forward to teaming up with all of you. We can totally do this!!!
Does anyone know of a 20 Something Challenge for November? Everything I read below is for October but I think we should start out turkey time with a challenge!

Hi everyone! My name is Nicole. I just started using sparkpeople a few days ago. I'm just so sick and tired of being overweight. I really packed the pounds on during my pregnancy thinking it would be so easy to lose it all again..boy was I wrong! Being a new stay at home mom it was just easy to eat unhealthy quick foods and I now weight more than I did when I was 9 months pregnant. I feel depressed and just down right awful. I'm done looking like this. This will be the last week I step on this scale and see 205. My daughter is 13 months old and it's time for this momma to start looking like she use too! My goal is to get to my pre-pregnancy weight of 150 and maybe back to weighing what I use to be in college (135) I'm also looking for an accountability buddy with similar goals so we can keep each other motivated!

Hi everyone! Today is my first day at Sparkpeople. I am excited to be here. Almost 3 years ago (after having our 3rd child) I lost 45 pounds, and I have maintained that weight for the past 2 years. This is the last year of my 20s, and I would like to be at my goal weight before I turn 30. I am currently training for a half marathon. I thought the running would jumpstart my weight lose again, but I am eating the calories I burn. I know I need to start tracking my food, so all the running will pay off.

Hello! I am Natasha! I have been overweight for the past 6 years. I used to be very active physically... I gained weight, and the doctors weren't sure why. It was about 80 lbs in a year... so I gave up for a while. I just ate whatever and stopped working out. That led to me gaining another 20 lbs. ( at +100 now, lol). Last year I joined Weight Watchers, and I did lose some weight, but I couldn't afford the $$ to continue. I did well for a while on my own, but eventually I gained most of what I lost back. And now I find this group! I like being able to track what I am eating and what exercise I am doing... and the accountability is something I almost need, lol. I am starting with the 50 lb goal by May. After that I will set another goal for the other 50. So let's do this!

Hey Adriana! Welcome to the group! I tend to have a problem with the fridge as well and the cupboards!! I would suggest spending time cleaning out your fridge and cupboards and refilling it with healthy snacks THAT YOU LIKE!!! I have replaced my bad food with things like the skinny cow ice cream treats at 150 calories each! Also things like peanut butter and apples, celery sticks and peanut butter....things like that. It's helped me A TON to stay on track. I have also learned that no matter what I tell myself, I do not have the will power to stay away from any bad food in my house so I just get it out of there so i'm not tempted. You will thank yourself when you step on the scale each week! Hope this helps! Also i've heard they sell these things you can attach to your fridge or cupboard that says "Moo!" everytime you open it so you really feel like a cow! YOU CAN DO IT!!!!

My name is Wendy and I am 26 years old. I have 3 children (6,5,1) and I just want to try and be the best mom and partner. I am weighing in at 202 right now and that is more than I weighed with any of my pregnancies. I decided to lose weight now after trying to shop for clothes and coming to the realization that I no longer fit in the clothing I like and used to wear. I am hoping by joining I will hold myself more accountable. And by losing weight maybe I can get my life back.

My name is Bobbie and I'm 25 years old. This is my second time trying sparkspeople.com, last time I wasn't as motivated to lose the weight as I am now. I don't have a support system or good motivators so I'm hoping to find that here. My goal is to get down from 297.2 to 200.0 pounds by September. I want to do this but I feel like the lack of support and motivation are once again going to keep me from reaching this goal. I'm hoping this time will be different.

I am a 27 year old single mother of two. It has been 2 years since I have been divorced and during the marriage and after I have packed on about 65 lbs. I am a nurse and want to lead by example by being healthy. I want my children to know me as healthy and energetic. Also before I start dating again I want to feel good about how I look. I have lost 15 lbs so far and about 45 more to go. I am determined to still loose weight over this holiday season!

Hello all. I'm Kalika, signed up for sparkpeople today. Finally decided that it's just too difficult to try to lose weight without any support system at all. My husband supports me but doesn't necessarily want to eat healthy himself so it makes it difficult for me to stay on track, which brings me back here. Last time I was here I had a lot of support and it really motivated me to keep going. :)

Hi, Im Steph, 23 years old & currently at university studying Sociology & Politics. My graduation is next July and I would love to be a lot lighter than I am now and be proud to get on that stage accepting my certificate. I also think it would do fantastic things for my health and stop me worrying so much. Oh and for far too long I've been single due to the lack of confidence In myself so it would be nice to actually meet someone who can see me rather than my weight.

I think we can all say that we want to become healthy. Healthy results in losing weight and we all want that body. I joined this team to get some advice and help others as well. How is everyone's day going so far?
Did you log in your food for the day?
Also, need a few tips to stay away from the fridge when I get home. The whole sign...STAY AWAY FATTIE...is not working. Any advice?

Hi everyone, I am Jessica. I am 23 years old and re-joined spark recently after a 1.5 year hiatus. During that time I got married and had a son. I was a member of this team and just wanted to introduce myself so that if anyone saw me around it wouldn't be a huge question of who is that girl? I am starting with my eating habits, and going from there as far as exercise since it is hard with a two month old to find much time for myself. I have already lost my baby weight but am looking to lose another 90 lbs to get to 130.

Hi! I'm Kelly - I'm 29 (about to turn 30 - ahhh!) and have just started with SP last week - already down 3.8 pounds and i feel great. I've tried and failed so many times with other programs, but I am LOVING this one. Trying to first get my eating under control, then slowly add in more exercise. I am unsure of how much I want to lose because I've never been skinny. I would like to start with 50 lbs (to get into a healthy bmi) then see from there.

Hi all. My name is Bethany and I just turned 28 in august. I survived stage 3 cancer of the tongue in 2010 and lost 65 lbs from that treatment and have since gained 15 lbs of that back. I have roughly 60 lbs I want to lose. I have been big pretty much my whole life. My senior year of high school, I got into weight lifting for strength, and that was about the only time I was happy with who I was, or How I felt about myself. I was strong, and I was proud of it, it gave me a reason to be bigger, and people didn't pick on me so much. I was about 15 lbs smaller than I am right now, but the same pants/clothes size then that I am now. I just want to be healthy again. I am tired of feeling sick, I am tired of being tired and in pain. So I am hoping if I try to start eating better, exercise more, and treat my body better, maybe it will make life a bit easier. I have been cancer free for 2 years and 3 months, but don't get remission until I have been cancer free for 5 years. I am probably one of a few people looking forward to seeing 30 years old, lol.

Hi, My name is Amanda and I joined to try and get back on track. I have lost a lot of weight so far but I have begun to lose sight and cheat a lot. My starting weight was 250 and I am currently 222. I really need to lose weight for my health and for me I am tired of being overweight and I want to do something about it. Finally! I am glad to meet so many people going through the same struggle as myself.

Hi all! My name is Britney and I am a 22 year old military wife and mommy to a beautiful 7 week old boy. I am somewhat of a veteran here on Sparkpeople, joining July of 2007 and having lost 40 pounds by the end of that year. With my time spent here, I have really learned a lot and ultimately have made a lifestyle change. After a very stressful and complicated pregnancy though, I gained about 70 pounds overall. Though I have some work to do I am optimistic that I can get back down to a healthy weight not only for me but for my husband and son as well.
"I believe that everything happens for a reason. People change so that you learn to let go, things go wrong so that you learn to appreciate them when they're right, you believe lies so that you eventually learn to trust no one but yourself, and sometimes good things fall a part so that better things can fall together."

I was athletic my whole life and have only recently gained a lot of weight in the past few years. I have to lose weight not only for myself but for my son. I want him to see his mother living healthy and I also want to be able to be active with him. I hope to find motivation and support through this site and board!

Hi Everyone!!! I am trying to lose between 60-70 lbs. I gained a lot of weight when I started using birth control shots as a teenager and was never able to lose it even after being off of it for a long time. I now have 3 beautiful babies and I am ready to lose ALL of this weight. I don't think I have been as serious about this as I am now!!! Good luck to everyone here!! I know this will be a long journey but I want to do it the right way!!!
