Hi Sandy! I haven't heard of it, but I'll give HabitBull a go. I went ahead and signed up for the Premium Spark coaching thing, which I think is a good first step. The Fast Break Goals seem like a good idea; if I can reach the smaller goals, I can work my way to the bigger ones.

As for drinks, yeah, it really is down to me learning to say 'no thank you'. I've decided to just give up beers and ciders at least. I don't actually like them that much, and beer upsets my stomach. If I'm going to treat myself, it may as well be with something I really enjoy like red wine or a nice G&T - always chased with a big glass of water!

Hi Jen! Welcome to the team :). Have you head of HabitBull? It's a free app to help people create good habits and stop bad ones. I started using it for the first time and I have to stay it is really helping me develop some good habits like flossing and stretching daily. Of course with any tool you only get out of it what you put in but since you mentioned building healthy habits I thought I mentioned it.

I hear you on having free food and drinks as a downfall, that's a problem for me too especially when I have friends and family who encourage you to partake. Discipline is requires to fight those urges to indulge. We just need to ask ourselves whats more important a drink are our health?

Hi! I'm Jen and as the user name suggests, I'm nearly 30 (well, October) and have a really busy schedule. I'm not super-focused on losing weight, but more concerned about building healthy habits sooner rather than later.

My biggest downfall is free food and drinks and work events - the drinks part probably being the bigger issue, living in a country where heavy drinking is so embedded in the culture!

What's going for me is that I stopped smoking and I really like vegetables and running about the place.

I have lived in Alaska all but 6 months of my life (born in California, doesn't really count lol). I highly recommend coming up here. It is so beautiful. Hopefully here in the next few weeks I will have some pics from various hikes I have done, so you can see the breath taking scenery!!!

Yes I agree, signing up for events keeps me motivated, I always do better when I have a goal to work hard for. Let me know how your progress is going!!

Hi AKMCLAUGHLIN89 emoticon to the team! Have you always lived in Alaska? The husband and I want to do a cruise there some day.

The climbathon sounds insane. I love having events to do because signing up for them pushes me stay active. I have an event called Stroke and Stride in August which is 3 days in 3 weeks. So 1 day a week for 3 weeks and it's:

Day 1: 400m swim + 2 mile run
Day 2: 600m swim + 2 mile run
Day 3: 800m swim + 2 mile run.

Now I'll be away on vacation for day 3 but I'm determined to do day 1 and 2. But I need to sign up for it. I better do that now.

this is day 3 for me on spark people. I live in Alaska, really trying to stay motivated and maybe get some ideas for new workouts. I have signed up for a local event here in September called the Alyeska climbathon. It is a 10 hour event to climb up the Alyeska mountain as many times as you can. My training begins now lol. Hope everyone is doing well

Hey everyone!!
I'm Laura, I'm 26 and I've been battling weight loss on and off since I was 21. What a waste of time. I can't see to stick with it, I think the longest run I have is 2 weeks then I fall off the wagon, beat myself up, quit and start over again.

I really want this time to be different so I'm trying to be way more active on sparkpeople.com and find people to help hold me accountable! I've also asked my boyfriend to do the same because he's very supportive. Wish me luck :)

I'm 22 . I've signed up to sparkspeople many times before but never bothered with it because I got myself in a horrible rut of thinking i couldn't do it and I lack the motivation to do so.

I used sparkpeople for the first time a few years ago and had great luck with it. Unfortunately life got a little crazy and my weight has slowly crept back on. I've used spark people a few times off and on but only for a couple days at a time so this time I am going back to groups and challenges to keep me on track! I'm Cindil and this is my first day on SP. I've been on the weight loss journey most of my life. About 2 years ago I lost 20lbs - which I have mostly kept off - but I have been struggling to loose my last 10 (..ok 13) pounds. Ever since I've moved to NYC I have been trying to do this thing on my own, so I am really looking forward to having this amazing, supportive, SP community! Hi my name is Lydia and I am 26. At 24 I started on a group of small healthy changes that led from me at 5' 4" weighing 167lbs dropping to 138lbs. I was thrilled with my routine and my gym, and then I moved, changed jobs, and broke up with my long time significant other in the course of a year and a half. I also fell out of my workout routine and stress ate my way up to 148lbs. I'm looking to get back to being my healthier happier self. I have plans to run my first 5k this summer, and take it from there. I bike commute rain or shine and I'm hoping to find some simple strength training to supplement my cardio. I'm looking forward to starting a new weight loss journey in Seattle.

Trying to get back on track. 5'4" starting out at 165 and would like to get down to 145. My ultimate goal is to run my first half marathon at the end of the year. Hopefully the running and weight loss goals hand in hand. I haven't been able to run that distance, or more than 5 miles for that matter, since high school. Hoping keeping up with groups will help me stay on track.

Hi all,

Hi all,

I'm Anna! I'm 25. Right now I'm 5'1 and 150 lbs and I'd like to be closer to 130. My junior year of college I got up to 183 and by the end of senior year got down to where I am now. Then for a while I took a break from trying to lose. But I'm ready to lose the last 20 pounds now!

I struggle with eating well when I cook and eat (and drink) with my boyfriend and our housemates -- I live in a group house where 8 people trade off cooking for each other and it gets hard to say what went in to a recipe.

I am a runner and a cyclist. This past year I did 3 half marathons and was a little peeved that I stayed the same weight the whole time! I am working with a trainer at my local Y who thinks that "too much cardio" (can you believe there is such a thing?!) needs to be supplemented with weight training, and she has me on a great program.

Please feel free to add me! I love to talk about nutrition and exercise and hope to create a support system for myself and help support others here.

Hi I'm Melanie. I'm 28 and a stay at home mom/wife with a blended family.I have 2 boys of my own (5 and 7) and raise my 16 year old step son. I took care of my MIL for 2 years in my home and it added a lot of stress to our family. 3 emergency hospital stays in one year! With all of her health issues I finally got her into an assisted living facility where they can monitor her better, yet she still has a lot of independence. My youngest started full day kindergarten this year so I have more time to focus on myself. I started 7 weeks ago and have lost 14lbs. I have 16 to go to reach my goal by Christmas, and another 5 after that to finally be at a healthy BMI. Trying to make time and keep motivated! Good luck to all on this journey! emoticon

Hi! I'm 25 years old (26 next month). I've been overweight all my life. I started my journey a few years ago at 220 pounds. After losing about 50 pounds with SparkPeople, life got in the way, and I stayed in maintenance for a couple years. Now I'm back to getting serious about losing weight and having a healthy lifestyle. I'm currently at about 162 pounds with only about 22 more pounds to my goal. I've never been this close to my goal weight before, so it's definitely different this time around!

Hi everyone! My name is Beln and im 25. I decided that this was my year to make changes and it seems to be woking. I already lost 15 lbs and I would like to lose 15 more, even though I would be extremely happy with losing 10. Right now Im doing insanity and I started to run a couple months ago.

Hi all! I'm new to SP but am absolutely loving it so far although I'm still learning how to use it. It has everything that I was trying to calculate and keep track of in excel, which was very tedious! I'm looking to lose about a stone, but more importantly I'd just like to be healthy.

Hello! I am just starting Spark and I am really hoping that I will be successful in making a lifestyle change. I am wanting to lose 12 lb. This is the weight that I have gained since my wedding day 3 years ago. We are trying the have a baby now and I really want to be healthy so I can be a good role model for my family. I have a horrible tendency to overeat and to eat for comfort and enjoyment even when I am not hungry. I have been known to eat in secret as well. I am ashamed that I do this and I want to make a real change. I don't want to do it alone so I am hoping by joining this team it will help me have some accountability.

Hi! Over the last year and a half I've gone from 226 pounds to 147 (as of Monday). I'm not sure if this will be a maintenance weight for me, but I feel like I have a few more pounds to release. My main focus is maintaining and getting fit. I feel like a skinny fat person right now (it's so weird to even use the word skinny to describe myself at all) and I want to see some tone and tightness to my body. Also, I (along with my husband) have been trying to get pregnant for 4 years! I'm hoping a healthy lifestyle will lead to a healthy pregnancy and a healthy baby!

Hey There! I'm Alison. As of this morning I now have 24 lbs to lose so I figured this group would be fitting. I have already lost about 70 lbs and now just have the last little bit to finish up. The last bit is so much harder to lose than the beginning weight! I'm looking for some buddies with similar goals to me. Looking forward to getting to know you guys!
