By George the rain DID stop and the sun DID come out and it was a beautiful day for a while!
Hope you got to go hiking, FRUM_SCRATCH! Mickey and I, of course, went walking right as the 2nd rain dump started ... we both got soaked but it was fun, anyway. He's over weight and was pooped from our 1st walk so he didn't get a sunshine walk. Darn! It's raining as we speak so maybe it will break again! I think I'll wait a little longer before we go today. He really does need the exercise! His "Dad" thinks he has to give him treats for everything. I can't seem to break through that thicker-than-5' cement block head. emoticon

REBBUL67, glad you were able to get out and enjoy some nice weather! Sure does make a person feel a special glow, and I'm glad you got the chance to have it.

Yep, you'll be ready for the shorts season! You'll be just fine!

Have a grand day, Everyone!

Steph

LOL Steph, there are a lot of different body types wearing some pretty revealing clothes. I have been doing good for the last two months on my exercise, and a new month is here to keep pushing. By the time the heat hits, I should be ok.

It was warm enough that we took the dogs hiking the trails at the park today. I got a pretty good work out.

Frum Scratch, we tried to rent the 2 seat tahiti and were told we were too heavy, so we had to opt for the bigger raft, which seemed a bit too big, but it was fun :) I like your motivational messages, I have pinned several sayings on Pintrest that I look at daily. That little voice in your head that says you can't do it is a LIAR! :) It's not about being the best. It's about being better than you were yesterday, be a better you. Don't compare yourself to others. Compare yourself to the person from yesterday.

Hi FRUM_SCRATCH! The rain was pouring when I let Mickey out for his piddle this morning. But the temp is supposed to be good -- 57 or so.?. Of course the weatherman has a habit of telling lies, dontcha know! BUT Spring is on her way which then leads to Summer and you'll have lots of hiking time then.

Have a wonderful day!

Steph

Rafting sounds like a lot of fun. We got invited to go last Summer but I can't remember where it was, it may have been cave junction. We couldn't go because there were too many people going to fill 1 raft but not enough for 2, it was kind of weird. There was some kind of discount involved. I was hoping to go hiking somewhere this weekend like Table Rock or Roxy Ann Peak but the weather might not let us do it.

Hi, REBBUL67! I've always heard how grand the white water raft trips are, too. I've never gotten the courage to load onto a boat and float ... something about deep water, I guess. emoticon Yep, I'm a chicken!

Don't you worry about wearing shorts! When the weather is in full heat mode, every possible body structure is touting them. You'll love the hike!

Have a great day!

Steph

I will have to try the table rock hike one of these days. I love going to I believe it's Cave Junction, to go river rafting, then they bring you back to your car. It is so much fun and great exercise. I have not gone in a few years, but I plan to this year. :) I just have not felt too comfortable in shorts in public, but I will lose enough weight by summer that it should not be a problem.

Oh yes! Table Rock IS a grand hike and the view of the valley from the top is absolutely amazingly beautiful. We hiked the "Little Table Rock" trail ... never got the courage to try the "Big" one. We haven't been to the House of Mystery for probably 15 years, but others who have been still rave about it. You'll really enjoy it.

Our hike at Valley of the Boulders was awesome, too. Glad you had the experience! Mill Creek Falls is probably my favorite of all. Soooooo beautiful!

Have a wonderful day!

I know this thread is old but thought I would comment. I would love to see the house of mystery sometime while my husband and I are living in this area. My favorite place that I have gotten to go out and see has been a couple of hiking trails in Prospect, they are right next to each other. We went in early fall when it was cool enough but still nice out and the leaves were starting to change. The first one is called Mill Creek Falls and there are a couple of different waterfalls you can hike to see, the other is avenue of the boulders. They are right on either side of the Rogue River and really pretty hikes. I would like to go out and try some other places to hike like table rock before the Summer gets really hot.

Hi Anne! Being planted here in Medford, I have seen some really beautiful sites in our travels into the woods, hills and mountains that surround us. We have the "House of Mystery" here with absolutely unbelievable phenomenon! There are many historic sites and beautiful rivers running almost anywhere we go outside of town. It's beautiful here!

I went snowshoeing for the first time on March 10 at Crater Lake during spring break. It was amazing, even when I nearly pulled a young woman down in the snow with me when I lost my balance. That was awful, but Crater Lake is my go-to place especially because it is on 60 miles from Shady Cove, as well as only $10 for a 5-day pass during the summer season. Two weeks ago I went to Grants Pass, Cave Junction and other points south to visit the Redwood Forest in Crescent City, CA. That was fabulous too. I love driving the Tiller Highway to get to Canyonville and I-5. It's beautiful. Where do you go to experience what Southern OR offers?
