Hi spark family. My name is Naomi and I'm the mother of five.
I'm trying really hard to be around for my children and grandchildren.
I've lost 74 pounds since October 2013 and I have 70 to go.
I will admit it's getting harder and harder but I'm glad I have a place to go where people are dealing with the same issues that I am.

I know where you are coming from. I lost 35 pounds and now put back on 10. It seems the more I try to lose, the more I gain. So, I joined sparks and hope this helps. Hopefully we will all learn together how to get this right.

Hi. My name is Francine and I joined Sparks about 2 months ago. I haven't really done well, but I am still trying.
Before I joined, I lost 35 pounds but then started to put it back on. First there was Christmas, then there was a cruise---I wasn't a very good girl.
So, after I joined I still gained some weight. Now I am trying to get back on track. I am a diabetic and will be going to classes after Easter and I hope that gets me back on track.
Today I read a motivational page here on Sparks that I plan to follow. So, that is my goal for the next 30 days +. It says that something that you do that is new takes any where from 21 to 40 days to become a habit.
So, I am going to try this with a few things at a time.

April Goal: I feel that I need another month at the same goals.

My name is Michelle. I'm new to this team, but not SparkPeople. I've been on SparkPeople off and on (more off) for a few years. I started back in December 2012, I did fairly well until March than quit walking and drinking plenty of water. To get to a healthy weight I should lose between 70 and 90 lbs. It is hard to get motivated when my boyfriend tells me he loves me the way I am. And others aren't supportive of me trying to eat healthy. I am a caretaker for my 92 year old mother.

My name is Callie and I have 50 lbs to lose. I am off to a great start with SP.

I like the official SP challenges. SP Official Healthy Cooking Challenge and SP Official 'Eat Up, Slim Down' Challenge

Here are the changes I have made so far:
1. Planning meals now
2. Drinking 2.2 L of H2O per day
3. Keeping fruit in bowls throughout my house

Re-introducing myself to those that don't know me...

I'm a 57 year old woman that has a total of 83 lbs to lose to reach a decent weight where I can possibly get off of blood pressure pills and also not hurt so much from RA of the spine. I've been told by my doctor that the less extra weight I'm carrying the less stress there will be on my joints. I don't expect to lose it fast. It took me 8 years to put on all the weight. My goal is to drop 2-4 lbs every month and keep it off til I reach my 83 lb goal.
I am married to Bob and he's just had to get a pacemaker/defibrullator in March 2013, and is still adjusting to having a very weak heart (20% heart strength), so I tend to stress over his health a lot, and when I'm stressing out, I tend to eat more than I should. So I will be working on making healthier food choices over time.

Hi, I'm Ali, and new to this team. I thought that this team would be very valuable for me. I am recovering from heart failure last October, and therefore need to weigh daily and call Cardiologist if my weight goes up or down more than three pounds. I certainly wish I could lose at least 3 pounds and get back on a losing track again.
My top weight was 316 and now it's 234.8 and won't budge. I have stayed this weight for the last 3-4 days, at least I haven't gained weight. My weight has been going up and down in the 230's, let's see what happens tomorrow morning. I have also recently increased my exercise and from next Monday on, I will exercise at least 20-30 minutes at least 3 times a week.
That feels right and good to make this 3x a week commitment for exercising, being a former couch potato emoticon . emoticon

I had left sparkpeople thinking I wouldn't be back. But I need the accountability and to be able to track my progress. And it helps having others going thru a lot of the same things I'm going thru. Hopefully I won't be leaving again anytime soon.
I no longer own a scale ( thankfully ) and will determine my progress by how my clothing fits and my energy level.

Hi all,

I'm Maria(MJ), 35 and from MA. I did sparkpeople in the past and now have returned. I lost 20 lbs over the summer and fall, ran my first 5k in October and then hit a wall once November and December came around. I stopped counting my calories and stopped working out. I have a habit of doing really good and then for some reason I give up. I have always struggled with eating. I love food especially the ones that aren't good for you. I'm not willing to give up the stuff I love to eat, but I have to learn how to fit them into my daily calorie range. Well I look forward to what looks like an amazing and supportive team.

My name is Louise and I am 64 years young. I am married and have 1 adult child. My husband and I have been married for 36 years and in November it will be 37 years. We live in Arizona but orginally from Massachusetts.

I have been on SPARK for a long time now but struggle with being consistant in losing weight and keeping it off--I have a lot of weight to lose. Right now I am struggling with being consistant in my exercising which I used to be so good at. I did make a goal tonight to start tomorrow and do a 1 Mile Leslie' s Walking DVD daily for 1 month.

I come to you from the Great Northwest (Port Orchard, WA). My Aunts are my greatest inspiration. They have both lost over 100 pounds and were even on the Oprah Winfrey show.
Both of them use SparkPeople, so I polished off my dusty SparkPeople and started back up again late in 2012. It has been a rollercoaster as I will exercise, then stop, eat, then exercise, then eat again. I finally think I have a regiment down, of exercise combined with eating correctly. Let's hope it works.

Hello Everyone! My name is Dawnette and I am a 45 year old woman that is for the first time taking care of MYSELF by eating healthy and exercising. My body has gotten in to terrible condition over years of neglect. For many years now I have been searching for my "reason" to take care of myself and this past November it finally occurred to me what the reason is..what my PURPOSE is.It is helping OTHERS to begin the same journey that I am with BEGINNING. I realized that if I am not at my best I can not be my best for others. My motivation is helping others to get fit and my inspiration is seeing them SEE themselves healthier. We so often put ourselves to the side thinking we are being selfish and that is so NOT true! I look forward to meeting new friends here. Thank you for the invite to your group!

Happy New Everyone. I am 56, married and live in Alberta Canada. I have been on and off with Sparks for a few years. Losing, gaining, gaining losing....... Last year I lost 40 pounds and then found 20 of them. I don`t lose weight I put it where it can be easily be found again.

I have a deadline that I want to lose 16 pounds for..... January 25..... I really hope to do it!

Hi, my name is Gemma. I'm 35 and live in central Illinois. I have one dog named Snickers. He is a chocolate/tan miniature dachshund. I found this team and thought it was a perfect fit for me since I very much believe in focusing on one day at a time. I've lost 26 pounds since September but there are some healthy habits that I have been slacking on lately, like drinking enough water, exercising consistently, and staying on plan with my food. I'd like to get back on track in those areas and make 2013 my year.

Hi!
I'm Sheila, a retired elementary teacher. I live in NE Ohio with my two furry roommates, Jake and Nellie (cats). I am starting to experience some health problems that had disappeared with my previous weight loss - but they returned along with the pounds.
I'm struggling to find my way back to a healthy lifestyle.

I was CHANGINGVICKI,now am LOSINGVICKI...

I was a member of sparkpeople a couple times ( and co-leader of this team) under different user names but since menopause, my thinking gets all screwed up and I let emotions get the best of me. So I end up dropping teams or leaving sparkpeople completely. But I'm back to stay this time, no matter what til I lose this weight.

Ok, I had these big plans and guess I'm trying to do too much all at once. So here's an update on what I will be working towards now and hope with everything I have in me, I can stick with.
I went back to weighing and will weigh once a week instead of daily, starting tomorrow. After 30 years of weighing daily; going cold turkey just isn't going to work for me. So it'll be once a week for now.
I plan to do a modified low carb plan. That means I will basically be giving up 98% of the junk carbs but allowing the veggie and fruit carbs that most low carb plans frown on. For now I'm going to allow myself the 150 grams of carbs a day maximum but work to keep it lower.
In the past this would have me so frustrated I'd say to H*** with it and leave sparkpeople. That's not happening this time. I'm determined, come h*** or high water, I'm going to stick it out and do my best each day to eat in moderation of whatever I do eat and get in 30 minutes of some form of exercise and over time maybe add a little more. There will be days when I'm very active and then there will be days where I do good to get in the 30 minutes. It is what it is. All I can do is what I can each day.
I know this is a process but it looks like I could find something that would "click" for me and not be so friggin' hard.
But I'm not leaving and each day I'll do the very best I can.

Rejoined~ new user name, new goals...

UPDATE: Sept. 27-2012
This is probably the 4th or 5th time I've joined this team, and this time I'll try to stay.
For many, many years I've tried to lose weight the way I always have in the past ( that worked), but this time it hasn't worked the way I wanted it to. And scale watching just made me unhappy as I watched the numbers go up and up. So I've decided to no longer depend on a scale. I tried this before but ended up getting back on it. But this time I won't be using the scale anymore. I intend to only step on a scale when I see the doctor the 1-2 times a year I go in for check-ups. I will take my measurements once a month on the first to see what progress if any I'm making.
I'm basically going to be sticking to calorie counting and trying to get in at least 30 minutes a day of some form of activity I enjoy to get myself in shape.

Hi, I'm Linda I live in Michigan. Mar 2011 I had open heart surgery. They replaced my aortic valve and my mitral valve. I need to lose about 50 pounds. I struggle to do this. I start out with good intentions and then fall off the wagon in about 3 or 4 days.

I look forward to being a part of this group.

I think this might be the first time I have posted in this particular forum, although I have been a silent member of the team for a while. About myself? I lost 50 pounds in about 4 months, and then it stopped. In fact, I have gained back 7 of those lost pounds over the past several days. So, this week I am re-dedicating myself to losing weight again. It isn't easy after hitting a plateau. I still have a lot of weight to lose. I had gotten seriously lazy with my treadmill recently...ever since I joined a kick boxing class a few weeks ago. To be honest, I was so sore in between my classes, that I just didn't want to do any other exercise. But, my body is getting used to the workouts now, so I think it's time to add my treadmill walks back into my regime. I hope it will allow me to break through this terrible plateau and get back to consistently losing weight. Regardless...I want to be as active and as physically fit as I can be, no matter how much I weigh.

I'm a 55 year old woman that was 100 lbs thinner in 2005 and would love to be back at that weight if at all possible.
I want to get my body back to a weight where I have less pain and I feel better about myself and how I look. I keep yo-yo-ing in my mind about just getting to a healthier weight (185 lbs) or pushing myself to get back down to what I weighed in 2005 (142 lbs). So for now I think I'm just going to work to get down to the 185 lbs, then decide if I truly want to push to go further once I reach the 185 lbs. I don't expect that to happen overnight anyway. I'd love to be 185 lbs by this time next year and that's the goal I'll set.

Hello. I am new to this group. I don't join very many groups but I like the step by step, day by day idea. I am not in a rush to reach my goal.
I joined mostly because without a gym membership I need to find activities to do around the house and when there is no equipment involved I tend to do nothing...I love walking but I am in AZ and its starting to get a bit hot and once it hits the high 90s and low 100s walking outdoors is not the best idea.
I need accountability so that I do at least 10 minutes a day 5-6 days a week at the minimum.
I am giving myself 13 months to reach my goal. I have been on SP for a few years but I deleted my original account when I got close to my goal, thinking I didn't need it anymore and gained back 28 lbs. I have learned a lot from that experience.

Hello Everyone; My name is Regina(Re for short) and I have been with sparks since july of last year. I was doing well, then the holidays hit and I fell off or should I say jumped off the wagon and have been struggling to get back on track ever since. Hi everyone! I am new to the team. I have been an active member on SP since February and have lost 40 pounds since then. However, the last 2 months I have not been doing that great. Every day I say "this is gonna be the day I get back on track" and almost every day I don't. I am still eating pretty healthfully, but many days I go over my calories quite a bit. I have gained back about 8 pounds and I need to turn this back around NOW!! I'm hoping this team can help me STEP BY STEP!
