Hi, everyone! I'm Melanie, age 32 and a SAHM to an 11-month-old.
For as long as I can remember, I've wanted to be a mom, and for as long as I've wanted to be a mom, I've wanted to be able to set my career aside, stay home, and focus on raising my kids. It took me a long time (and a lot of loss) to become a mother, and I thank both God and my husband every single day for allowing me to fulfill my dream. It's everything I dreamed it would be -- and, of course, a whole lot of things no one ever dreams it will be until they're actually a parent who finds themselves getting teary-eyed over a first self-fed bite and barely batting an eyelash at the head-to-toe poop bath that results from an all-too-clever-and-determined almost-toddler removing his diaper inside his sleep sack.
Yes, my life is chaotic at times (which is why I HATE it when people act as if I sit around and watch TV all day), but I love it. I just try to spend as much time on the most important things (playing with my son, spending time with my husband), only necessary time on the lesser important things (cooking, housework), and minimal-to-no time on things that really don't matter. I believe in using routines to keep a house running smoothly, spending no more than half an hour getting a healthy meal on the table, letting my son unravel the whole roll of toilet paper if that's what it takes to fit in a shower, and simply enjoying the ride.
So, why did I join this team? Well, I'm always looking for new ways to put a healthy meal on the dinner table in record time -- not mention ideas for weekday lunches when I'm the only one eating and my husband ate the leftovers I'd planned to have for lunch, the occasional packed lunch for my husband, and the very occasional must-impress centerpiece to a dinner party menu. Hopefully, I'll connect with some new ideas and new people here!
