Hi there! Heather from Texas here :) I sought out this team because I'm always looking for healthy recipes and I hate just searching them out on websites....I prefer the people aspect of cooking. Tell me what works & doesn't work for you, that kinda thing. I am a married mother of 5 - 2 of the pickiest eaters ever, 2 who will eat anything, and one that falls somewhere in the middle. I love food, which is why I'm in the boat I'm in now...but I'm looking to keep eating the things I love by making them healthier.

I love to exchange recipes, so I just had to join! I'm a stay at home mom, unschooling(homeschool) my 13 yr old daughter. I was born w/ one hand & lost my left eye at age 3, so I met life's challenges full force my entire life. Now I just ride along with my challenges at an easy pace, lol.

Hi Everyone... I am Jamie from St. Louis. I have 2 little boys (2 and 3 years old) who are fairly picky eaters. My husband loves to grill - he writes for 3 blogs - Charbroil , grillinfools.com and his own blog - majorleaguegrilling.com. He is starting to do a lot of BBQ competitions and I get to be his sous chef.. . . I am a vegetarian and he and our boys are full fledged meat eaters! I joined this group hoping to find some non-grilling recipes to feed the family and step it up as healthier cook for our family. I love trying new things and am always willing to try new recipes. My husband has been the main chef in our family since my oldest son was born 28 years ago and I guess you might call me the occasional cook as I usually cook when I find a recipe I want to try. I have a pretty decent size collection I've pulled from magazines and a dwindling collection of cookbooks. I say dwindling because I have been giving all but my favorites away. At one point I had about 140 cookbooks. A bit of advice...don't look at cookbooks when hungry. I also have to say that I came by this honestly as my mom also has a weakness for cookbooks.
I'm very excited to try recipes that have been taste tested and I'm looking for quick, whole food-ish type recipes with the emphasis on "quick."
Michelle, I also live in MA and would love to move across the border to NH, I practically live there already as I do everything there. Where is the Farmers Market you are referring to? Whole Foods and Trader Joe's..uh huh, me too, although Whole Foods is a bit far from me. I usually shop there when I visit my daughter.

I am a major foodie at heart! I cook and bake when I have time. I seriously try a new recipe almost every week (not as much during the semester though). I love all homemade foods and really good gourmet foods, spices,etc... Let's just say I spend a lot of money at Wholefoods and Trader Joe's!
I currently live in MA, but am moving to NH in 2 weeks - they have an amazing Farmer's Market there and some great organic produce stands and stores. I can't wait to go everyweek. I'm all about clean eating, but my love for sugar overtakes me a lot and I either make something sugary or buy chocolate-haha.
I belong to another cooking forum which I like, but I'm excited to start here - I have a ton of recipes and cookbooks that I'll share over time.
Here is a good question for you all: What is your fave cookbook or do you have a new cookbook that you just need to tell about?????
I'm looking at getting My Father's Daughter by Gweneth Paltrow (think I spelled her name wrong). A few others I want, but I forget. I'd say my fave right now is actually a magazine called Clean Eating. But my fave cookbook is a tied - one book all about apples and one all about pumpkins! (I LOVE all things FALL!)

Hi guys I am interested in doing more cooking at home and eating out less! I have to chose low sodium, low fat, heart healthy recipes because of my medical condition. If I find a recipe that I like that tastes good, I will try it again and again. I am glad to find this forum.

HI...I am new to this group. I am pretty good about making healthy breakfast and lunches...its dinner, that I alway have trouble with. Like last night, I had an extra day care kid, I had to watch late, and didn't get to the store on time...we ended up ordering pizza. Result...up 2 pounds this morning on the scale

Hi, my name is Melissa and I am back to SP after falling off a huge wagon. I love, love, love to cook but am now having fun making new and better choices in my recipes. I have a couple friends from work that are part of my support team. We started a mini "lunch bunch" twice a week. We take turns bringing in nutritious lunches for each other. We stay within the 400 calorie range and it has been quite a success. I am enjoying it a lot. Always looking for new ways to make things. Can't wait to meet all of you.. Stay Fierce!!!

Hello everyone! I'm Kim, and I'm an American living in Germany...last week was the beginning of our fifth year away from the States. I began with SP in March and have lost 15 pounds very slowly (and that was my own doing). I plan to lose the next 15 before the end of the year. Love to cook, but I love yummy and simple. Hello to all! My name is Wanda. I'm 56 and a retired teacher/counselor. About 3 years ago, I lost 42 pounds and have managed to keep MOST of it off. I am now working part-time as a personal trainer so I know the importance of proper nutrition and exercise. I'm just like my clients though, and struggle with the weight that still wants to creep up. Hi. I've been hanging around Sparkpeople almost 6 months now. I read a blog last night where the writer said that you can't have the foods you love. I wish I'd responded with a disagreement. I think you CAN have the foods you love, but those foods may have to be modified to comply with the requirements of a healthy lifestyle. I love to cook and I love to eat.
