I have injured my back and there is little I can do in terms of exercise at the moment. But I can cook. Needless to say, that can be dangerous. So I want to cook healthier meals. I even took a small, local nutrition class. It was packed full of information and I have expanded on my cooking. Now I need new ideas. I look forward to sharing.

Eat the food that God gave us, not the "food" that humans created in laboratories

Hi! I am a new sp member! I have children, so sneaking veggies in meals is nothing new to me! My hubby is a real meat guy, needs his meat at every meal. I am more laid back. I love variety and I don't have to have a certain food every time I sit down to enjoy a meal. :) I have an Uncle who has to have bread at every meal. My downfall is sweets and Mexican food. I love trying new foods and recipes as I get bored eating the same thing. I look forward to meeting you! :)

My husband is type 2 diabetic and has just gone off the deep end with eating whatever he wants. NOT good! We bought a new grill last week and I have been grilling every day and eating fresh veggies. That has helped some, but he has a long way to go to get back on track. Try grilling and adding some grilled vegetables to your menu. He probably would love it. If you think the vegetables would fall thru the grill, get a grill pan (Walmart) and put them on that. It works great!

I've gone through the same journey with my dh. When we moved to a new community, he wasn't involved in the regular sports he had been and put on some weight. I started on my own, he would buy the junk but I gathered a basket and fridge shelf of my own with my snacks/ "special foods". Cheese is a big treat for me, so I have 2% shredded. The rest of the family has the other. I make sure I have salad blends in the fridge and my favorite noshing veggies. I keep a stock of high fiber crackers, bread and nutritious bars to make sure I'm getting enough. Slowly but surel he is beginning to come around. For me I make sure there is always a healthy veg or fruit at the dinner table. I have a small portion of the meat and starch and load up on hte healthier items. DH is proportioning his plate better now, without any prompting from me and has taken off almost 15 of the 40 lbs he gained after we moved.

Hang in there!

Little things add up to big differences. It only takes a step to get going in the right direction.

Smile! It makes people wonder what you are up to!

I like making the things my family likes but healthier versions. Tonight is Family pizza night for us. I make a whole wheat dough, and then I set the table like a bar with fresh veggies, turkey pepperoni (tastes like regular but is low fat), and other healthy toppings. I give everyone a piece of dough and everyone gets o make thier own. The love it! It is a fun family activity which ends with a yummy meal and extends the dinner time into a longer family time. It is amazing what healthy items they will put on the pizza. Everyone is happy and I get a healthy meal into everyone and they think they are eating junk. lol.

I do other meals too where I just make them healthier.

My dh use to like all the "good stuff" too until a physical found him with high cholesteral and type 2 diabeties. Now he has gotten much better. Before when I would try to eat healthier I felt sabatoged by him as he would bring home chips and garbage I shouldn't have been eating. Now I feel that we both are coming over to the "light side" lol. Sometimes men just need a little shake up, unfortunately to get things right. So do we for that matter.

Welcome. My husband likes lots of fat as well, like big cheese burgers and lots of fries. However he does not get them at home. I've moved to pasta, and I eat less, and lots of vegetables and salad with a meat or chicken. He's actually gotten used to it. The way I get recipes posted is to enter them on Sparkrecipes in the healthy lifesyle part and then it shows up on my sparkpage. Hope that helps. I'm looking forward to trying some of your recipes.
