I'm Kinch and have been a big fan of the Japanese culture since I found out (in college) that Godzilla wasn't the only thing that came from there.
During those days, back in the 70's, (I'll admit it) as a student in Chicago I became addicted to a TV show which showed quality Japanese films. I also had the fortune to dine at a place called Ron of Japan's in the city (don't know if it's still there). There's no better way to learn about a culture than through it's films and it's food!
I have passed on my love of Japan to my daughter, who first fell in love with Pokemon; she was in love with Squirtle and I LOVED Peekachu. From there she went to Beyblade to Yo-gi-oh to Full Metal Alchemist to stuff I don't even know about.
The family went to the most recent Otakon in Baltimore and just before that she got to spend 3 weeks in Japan on a student exchange.
As you can imagine, I was extremely happy - and jealous - at the same time.
Now we're thinking about going to Japan for her High School graduation, so any input about places to stay from Sparkfriends will be appreciated. Yes, she'll have a lot of input, but I bet you'll have some good thoughts, too.
