Naruto is one of the shows my daughter mentions. She really hasn't bought any DVDs, but has borrowed some from her friends.

The woman I named my daughter for also has sent her 4 movies, including Kiki's Delivery Service, Castles in the Sky (my favorite), Spirited Away and Howl's moving castle. SAC (my daughter's initials, which also stands for Stand Alone Complex) is totally in love with Howl.

I know I also LOVE Japanese culture! I got into Sailor Moon first and from there I learned a lot more! I also LOVE the food! There is a really great Japanese resturant near where I live but is on the expensive side so I go there every once in a while. But I make my own in the meantime.
I am very much into Naruto right now, and am going to buy the 3rd season today!

Hello,

I'm Kinch and have been a big fan of the Japanese culture since I found out (in college) that Godzilla wasn't the only thing that came from there.

During those days, back in the 70's, (I'll admit it) as a student in Chicago I became addicted to a TV show which showed quality Japanese films. I also had the fortune to dine at a place called Ron of Japan's in the city (don't know if it's still there). There's no better way to learn about a culture than through it's films and it's food!

I have passed on my love of Japan to my daughter, who first fell in love with Pokemon; she was in love with Squirtle and I LOVED Peekachu. From there she went to Beyblade to Yo-gi-oh to Full Metal Alchemist to stuff I don't even know about.

The family went to the most recent Otakon in Baltimore and just before that she got to spend 3 weeks in Japan on a student exchange.

As you can imagine, I was extremely happy - and jealous - at the same time.

Now we're thinking about going to Japan for her High School graduation, so any input about places to stay from Sparkfriends will be appreciated. Yes, she'll have a lot of input, but I bet you'll have some good thoughts, too.

I want to go back to Japan too. I was there in the winter of 2001-02. I want to go back so badly. Once I am able to get better I hope that I will be able to go. I would like to see more than Nagoya. I got to spend a few days in Tokyo, but that wasn't enough. Would like to go to other cities too. I try to learn the language, but it does take awhile, and I haven't gotten too far yet.. but I love the music...:)

Hello,
I'm new to SparkPeople and I also just joined your team. I'm still learning how everything on this website works.

I am a college student majoring in Japanese Language & Culture. I also love cooking Japanese food. I've been to Japan twice and will be leaving in April to study at a university in Japan for a year. I'm really looking forward to it. I'm also hosting and exchange student from Osaka in my home for 10 months.

My goal is to lose enough weight to be able to fit into a normal Japanese size so I can buy a lot of cute clothes while I am there. ^_^

I look forward to getting to know everyone.
