Nice! I like Japanese pod 101's free podcasts, but I study with the Genki books (I'm almost finished!) and the anki flashcard program (ankisrs.net). They're great ways to learn :)

That's cool that you live in Japan. My son lived there for one quarter of school last year. I got over there twice. It was awesome!! He was in Tokyo, and we visited Yokohama and Osaka. I currently study using Japanese Pod 101.

Well, depending upon where you want to study, I really like this program: http://ankisrs.net/

It's a flash-card program (you can download pre-made ones) that spaces out when they need to come back up. So yesterday, when I studied, I had a few that didn't need to come up again for 2 years, and others that I needed to repeat immediately (and lots of intervals in between).

Hope that's helpful! :)

What do I like about Japan? The people, the culture, the country, the food, the manga, the anime...

I was planning to learn Japanese, but my son started pushing me to learn NOW and HIS way. I'm a rebel at heart, so now I seem to have a block to retaining any Japanese in my head,

Really? That's too bad. It's a neat language. If you don't study Japanese, what do you like about Japan?

Welcome to the team!

That's awesome that you're teaching English in Hokkaido! We may have some study buddies for you in this team, but I confess that I'm not one of them. My Japanese is next-to-nonexistent!

Hey all,

I currently teach English in Hokkaido.

I want to be conversational in Japanese and am slowly gaining more and more ability in this crazy, but awesome language.

I barely passed the JLPT N4 in December and want to aim to pass the N3 this next year. Looking for some buddies to study with as well as to share ideas about studying with.
