Hello All. I am a long term spark member looking for a supportive team. I am working on getting back to exercising daily so that I can have an easier time traveling. The world has a lot of wonderful sights to see, mostly at the top of stairs :). I'm not specifically looking for weight loss (though I am a BIG girl) I wouldn't mind some.

Hi, everyone! I'm fairly new to Spark. I've lost almost 20 pounds since November 2013 (though most of it came off before January and I have not been trying as hard since). I joined a gym, but I find it difficult to use the equipment there. I tend to go with my mom who is much smaller than me and it is difficult to see her doing things I can't. I would like to incorporate different exercises into my daily routine. I am excited to meet the people in this group!

Hi all! Im back to spark people again! Keep trying all the diets and I see that since I was last on this diet I gained 15 lbs in 2 yrs! I have tried a med wt loss and wt watchers still gaining. What happens when we get over 50?? Need to learn to excercise in a new way, sick of feeling like a jellyfish at the gym with the young skinny instructor saying "you can do it".....seriously I cant and I dont want to be in tremendous pain the next day. Any help would be appreciated.

hi, I just started sparkpeople on march 10th. wanted to say welcome and good luck on your venture. I started my venture by elimating sugar where ever possible. this has let me lose 12 pounds since jan 1, the day I retired. and decided this is the time to work on me. and I am. try finding a book that will help understand how food affects your body, one by the doctor. it was very helpful to get me going and continue on my quest. GOOD LUCK. will be there for you all the way. gotta lose 95 pounds. says it will take till 2.15.2015. wish me luck.

Hi - I'm Angie. I just joined Spark People today and came upon this spark community. I need motivation to maintain an exercise program, which is hard to do when you are plus sized. Not all exercised on DVD's are possible at this point, but I'm looking forward to making a positive change and to get moving. Best of luck to all of us.

Hi everyone,

My name is Neah and I have been a SP member for a couple years now off and on... sadly returning from an off period and am looking for more ways to be held accountable and interact with others along the same journey. Recently started running and am looking forward to increasing that as time goes on.

Good luck to all! emoticon

Rejoined after months gone:

I'm a 57 year old woman that has a total of 83 lbs to lose to reach a decent weight where I can possibly get off of blood pressure pills and also not hurt so much from RA of the spine. I've been told by my doctor that the less extra weight I'm carrying the less stress there will be on my joints. I don't expect to lose it fast. It took me 8 years to put on all the weight. My goal is to drop 2 lbs every month and keep it off til I reach my 92 lb goal.
I am married to Bob and he's just had to get a pacemaker/defibrullator in March, and is still adjusting to having a very weak heart (20% heart strength), so I tend to stress over his health a lot, and when I'm stressing out, I tend to eat more than I should. So I will be working on making healthier food choices over time.

Hello everyone I'm a newbie to the group. I signed up in 2013 but fell off . I'm back and ready to be consistent for the most in getting active and logging the food I eat.

I have 240 lbs to lose by Jan 2016 slow and steady wins the race. I can't stand long so I will be doing Chair Zumba and other chair workouts & Stability Ball 10 min 3 x daily starting out and every 3 weeks add more time until I work up to 60 min.

I'm looking forward to doing exercises standing up and walking.

Looking for an accountability partner.

Hi everyone! I am new to the team.

I joined SparkPeople about two weeks ago,I think it was.

I would love to lose about 170 pounds by the end of September 2015.That would drop me down to I think 180 pounds and I am now 350 pounds.

I am taking things slow since I get overwhelmed very very easy.

I already set my weekly goals for Feb and will reward myself for completing those goals. I think it is good to reward myself for sticking with exercise as well as losing the weight.

I also can not wait to be able to pull off some cute Cosplays after I have lost a good bit of weight!

Hi All, I've been registered with SparkPeople for quite some time now but not very consistently, disciplined or committed.

It's for me to stop visualizing my weight loss/healthy living dream/desire but begin to be a part in making it my reality. I too, don't wish to be skinny...I love curves and I want to get to a happy peaceful place with who I am in my skin.

I will definitely seize the opportunity and really rely on this team for support. Perhaps if I had done so in the past, I would be at my physical happy place. But I'm a firm believer, timing is everything; and this is definitely my time.

Best wishes to everyone with their journey,

Hello everyone,

My name is Tamika and I am on a quest to love over half of my body weight. My first short term goal is 12lbs by 2/14. I do a combination of Leslie Sansone at home walking videos, Zumba, walking/jogging on the track, or working out at the gym. I wish everyone the best in their goals! emoticon

Hi! I joined this team cos I'm not big on exercise. I try to walk daily as a minimum, 50 minutes preferably, and I have Callanetics DVDs and other DVDs but as yet haven't used them!... I like the idea of SalsaDX and Zumba but have never done either. Hoping to pick up some tips and encouragement from this team!

Hi! I'm Kathleen, and I live in Austin, TX. Last year I lose 80 lbs by eating plant strong and running a few times a week. This year I got into a new relationship and I've gained 20 of those lbs back

I joined SP about a month ago trying to get back on track with my weight loss. It's been slow to start. Although I haven't lost any weight, I've re-established some good habits like:
- exercising 10-30 minutes/day (Wii Dance or recumbent biking)
- doing a few minutes of at-home strength training
- tracking my food/water

I'm looking for Spark Friends to exchange motivation/daily successes and challenges with. Please feel free to friend me if you'd like.

Hello. My name is Lori. I have been on and off sparkpeople for a few years and just found this team. I am hoping to find some great ideas on workout suggestions that I can do. I have issues with my back and legs with arthritis and neuropathy from chemo treatments. I want to get healthy and increase my mobility and strength but am having a hard time finding things besides walking that my size and limits allow. Read thru the posts and found some suggestions i'd like to try. Thank you. Looking forward to this team!

Hello everyone. I will be 41 in December and I just want to get back in shape. For me, its no longer about the number on the scale but about my overall health and fitness. I was athletic when I was younger but over the years I have become much less active and my body shows it. I was born with hip displasia and I've had arthritis since highschool so some days are easier to exercise than others. I'm learning alternative exercises and modifications for days when I'm in pain so that I don't have an excuse to fall off the wagon. I was laid off from my job in September so I'm taking this unplanned vacation to work on me inside and out. So if anybody needs an accountability buddy or some personal encouragement or someone to vent to, I'm here. Whatever our goals are, we can meet them one step at a time!

Hi All,

I hate having to introduce myself or telling my 'story', so I won't go into great details here.

I did want to say to you, LYNN09062012 that I see that you seem to be the person consistently welcoming people here. I really think that you should be on the Team Leaders list!

I'm a plus size with bad knees and need help with exersice outside the pool. Tried a couple of the 10-15 min workouts that come up on my Start page, but having difficulty with ones that do a lot of knee bending.

I am a happily married 44 year old mom of 3 teens. No one seems to have any issue with my weight except my ego. My ego is mean to me. I am over it. So...each time something negative pops in my head...I replace it with a deep yoga breath and thought of what my plan is for the rest of the day. Being present to the moments in my day have helped me to get back in touch with my real goals. I want to be healthier. So take that ego...forget you and your judgy thoughts....I am striving to be around longer in life and to be more active. I don't need to be a supermodel. Time for me to start loving the skin I'm in and if pounds begin to disappear...well so be it, but I sure know I need some help!!! emoticon

I am restarting my journey - for the nth time.

But previously, I had always been doing it for someone else. I need to be doing this for me.

I want to be able to buy clothes in the misses section - not the "womens" area.

I want to be able to breathe freely when I climb the steps into my house.

I want to be able to not wince when my knees pull me up each step.

I want to be healthy again - it has been so long - I don't remember what it feels like.

I am a mom to 4 - but baby weight would be a lie, as my youngest is now 13.

I know I didn't get fat overnight - and this will take time.

Baby steps. Some large leaps. Mostly baby steps.

I can do this.

I was here before a long time ago. Good morning. My husband has just finished his year of hell ( He had two hemotomas unknown to us, and needed round the clock care.) I was too tired, too spent to do anything but watch him decline day after day, so I quit this. Bad move, Anyway, he had an operation, and is 90% recovered, so I am back on track yet again. wahooo.

Have you thought about chair exercises? I know that a lot of exercises have been designed so that you can do them while sitting in a chair. They put quite a bit of chlorine in pools just because of what you are talking about to kill germs and such. I have a lot of issues with depression too so I know that can make it difficult to get moving. Congrats on the weight you have already lost! emoticon

Hi, just wanted to introduce myself. My name is Carla. I'm 39, married, with 5 kids ranging from 22-7. I am really hoping to find some exercises that I like and can do without feeling ridiculous and without getting bored. That said I also don't want to invest a million dollars in equipment that I use 2x because I feel ridiculous and got bored. I'm hoping to drop a significant amount of weight and find the old me that I know is still in there.

God grant me the serenity

Hello everyone My name is Shelly and I've been a member here on SP for over 6 years but I went MIA. Since I've been back on track these last 10 mos I decided to come back to SP/ My sister is a medical doctor and she shared this site with me. I love it and with the information and workouts and changing not so good habits, I lost 85lbs. I felt great until i had a change happen within my family left me feeling depress and alone. This was over 2 yrs ago, so now I am ready to continue to take control. I would like to share info and get to know everyone here.
Thanks emoticon

Thankful God has given us this wisdom of our Spark People Family for teaching us the nature way to good health.

Well have used SP a couple of times over the past couple of years. At the end of July my company started a 10 week shapeup challenge and it was time to once again give it a try. So I came back. In the past I did really use any of the teams but I know I need the support so this time I am reaching out. So far I am down 32 pounds. but it is slow as I have really bad knees so the exercise part is difficult. I have joined a gym and have been going but the knees are kicking back. Going for cortisone shots this week and that will help for a while. What suggestion does anyone have to things to do. So far at the gym I have stuck with just the treadmill. Any help is appreciated.

Hi everyone. I'm new to SP and this group. I´ve a lot of weight to lose and in truth am afraid of the exercise needed to lose it. For years I've lost weight (just by changing my eating habits) and regained it again. Exercise has always been something I'll "get around to" but am never motivated by. Anyway, I realise I'll have to get on with it so am looking to you all for help and inspiration!

Hi Redhawk,

I see we both have similar weight loss goals. Impressed by your conviction to find a way to overcome your physical challenge with the pituitary tumor.

I tried a trial of 2 weeks gluten-free, but I really don't have any issues with gluten, so it didn't make much of a difference for me. Prior to that I already had determined that bread and other flour goods should only be a small and occasional part of my diet. I used to be a bread-hound...loved my bread! Now some days I eat none, other days perhaps a slice or two. And of course, cut out donuts, cookies, etc. Tasty, but not part of my plan!

Just wanted to say hello and welcome!

Hi Plus Size Exercisers! This time around (and there have been many over the past 25 years of being overweight) I am getting it RIGHT. I'm 61, soon to be 62, and the time for procrastination about taking control of my lifestyle is over! I've been very encouraged by my slow and gradual start with SparkPeople. Always before I would diet and exercise like crazy for a week or two, hop on the scale, see little change, throw my hands in the air and GIVE UP. No more. I finally get it where change has to happen first...in my HEAD! I'm doing really fine with tracking my food and making consistently better choices. Now to tackle the final and biggest obstacle...a lifetime of being the person who curls up on the couch with a book, instead of going out for a walk. I don't like exercise, and that's a fact. But I don't like going to the dentist, either, and I do THAT regularly. Because it's GOOD for me. I'm exploring some DVD's to try at home, since I'm an introvert who doesn't enjoy the gym. And walking is fine outside but what about when the weather gets bad? So...DVD's it is! Glad to be a member of the team!

I've been lurking around SP for a few days and am now really diving in to get the most of it. I have been overweight for my whole life. All the women in my family are overweight. I've lost and gained and lost and gained. I don't want to count calories or have a list of "I can't haves." I just want to learn to be in control and stop letting food control me. I want to learn moderation, recognizing true hunger and enjoying being active. As I sit here today, the thought of going for a walk (i.e., sweating) gives me a headache. I have a treadmill and a recumbent bike. But hate using them. Need motivation to get going!

Hi I am new here. I have been having problems with weight for 4 years now, thats when I found out I have a pituitary tumor. So I just kept gaining. They say with the tumor you keep gaining, but through natural pills I have been able to control migraines. Then I decided to go gluten free I was getting headaches after eating. In 3 months I lost 20 lbs. I am determined to lose this weight and prove them wrong.

Hi all,

Just popping in to introduce myself.

I'm a teacher of 7th graders, wife, and mom to one 7 year old. I've struggled with my weight since college and am ready to be done with that! I've had some really good successes in the past, but now I'm at my highest weight ever. It's time to get healthy for the last time!

I've set some goals for health and fitness for the next year and can't wait to meet them.

Thanks for the positive energy here!

Hello everyone! My name is Shannon and I am new to Sparkpeople and this group. I gained weight after two kids and becoming depressed. I am back to feeling positive and now am continuing the momentum to losing the weight I put on. I do find it hard to excersize. I tend to start a program, then stop cause I get bored or just make excuses to why I can't continue. I hope using sparkpeople and groups like this can help me stay motivated :)

Hi my name is Karla and this is the third time I have tried to lose weight. I was on weight-watchers in 2010 and lost 35 lbs. Then started college and didn't have time for the meetings..gained some of it back. Then in 2011, I joined SparkPeople and lost approx. 20 lbs...but some stressful events happened and I lost focus. Here it is in 2013, and I am beginning again. I am heavier than I was before I lost those last 2 times. I went to the doctor this week and she suggested a nutritional program at their clinic, which I joined. Here it is on day 2 of that program...I drink nothing but water.. except a 1/2 cup of coffee...(eliminating it slowly, :) ) I will going to see my doctor monthly so, this will help me be accountable. Because she suggested it, my insurance will pay for my visits. (except co-pay). I remembered this great site and decided to get back here to help me with my tracking, etc.
I have high hopes of staying motivated. I would like to lose 252 by 2014. Right now I weight 311.6. I want to feel good again. I was slim (skinny) until I hit 40 -- I don't like myself now...but I am going to change this. I have an awesome job working at a technology center. It is embarrassing that my office chair breaks down more than my colleagues' chairs do. I don't feel like I "look" professional enough with all this weight.
Most of all, I want to live long to enjoy my children and some day when I have grandchildren...enjoy them too.
I am working on my degree (yes at age 55) I hope to graduate in 2015 -- it's been slow since I am working full time. I am also a full time student (I try to limit to 12 credit hours per semester--so it has been a slow process). I want to walk on the stage without breathing heavy.
This has been lengthy...but I am 'pumped up' and am determined this time to succeed.
I started (again) to do exercises with my wii fit plus (aerobics steps) I have started small with 10 minutes in the mornings (all I can do right now lol) But already I am feeling a little better.
Glad to be a part of this team...Hopefully not forever... I want to get out of a plus size.. but this is a great start to my success.

Hello,
I am Lynn and I am in need of exercise motivation. I love to exercise my brain however, find exercising my body to be boring. Sometimes I can find motivation but most of the time I can divert myself to other activities.

I do like to do yard work and gardening. So, I do exercise that way. I like to jog but do not do it consistently. Just looking for others who can help me to be motivated. I will be a motivator to you, in return. emoticon

Hi! Well, i was able to conquer that part partly because I was tired of the yo-yo and second was the diagnosis of NASH (basically my liver was as bad as an alcoholics, only I didn't drink, it was all from bad food. It was extremely painful and the consequences if I didn't change were fatal) I made it in my head I HAD to change, no excuses. It was extremely hard and a big challenge, especially with everyone around me still eating the delicious bad foods, but knew I was stronger than that crave. I made a deal with myself as well to have cheat times, not crazy cheat times, but ones I wouldn't feel guilty about and fall off. Learned it is ok to cheat so I don't get discouraged and quit. Working in a bakery will be challenging, but the good thing too is you can make healthier cakes/pastries for you and when you feel like cheating, you can have something sweet and yet a little healthier with little swaps in the recipe

Don't be your worst enemy, be your best cheerleader!

Hi everyone! I am also new. My name is Samantha, I am 23 years old, and I live in West Virginia. I am a soon to be college student (going to be focusing on Nursing) and NEED to get rid of my weight. I am SO out of shape. I have always struggled with weight. My smallest weight was 170, when I first started dating my now husband. And I'm sure a lot of you know, when you get married you let yourself go.

This team sparked me interest because it seems like a lot of exercises are hard for plus sizes. I have large breasts that prevent me from jogging and running well (at least until I get a sports bra) and I have too large of a belly to successfully do a sit up! LOL.

My left knee is also in bad shape, don't know how it got that way, but probably from years of carrying my weight around.

These may sound like excuses, but I am VERY WILLING to learn any beginner work outs people have found helpful.

I am new to the site and still learning, so bare with me if I mess something up! LOL.

Feel free to add me as a friend emoticon

Hay everyone! My name is Maura and just joined SP. Just happened to come across it and thought this was EXACTLY what I was missing! I am 34 and was diagnosed in April with NASH and high cholesterol. I have battled my weight since I was a kid and as soon as I heard the diagnosis and along with what can happen if I do not change, I knew I had to change. It's not an option it is a MUST. I have a 5 year old daughter and a 12 year old stepdaughter, married for 8 years and the thought that I may not be here if I dont change my ways hit me like a ton of bricks. I am proud to say I have tackled the eating portion, just need to exercise. I need to lose between 60 & 80 pounds. I am glad to come across a group that understands and supports each other. Best of luck to everyone and ever need a pick-me-up, I'm your girl! emoticon
