Welcome to the team. In the morning and evening when I brush my teeth, I do squats and then at the closed door I do 15 wall pushups.

Looks like everyone is getting an exercise plan in place. With the weather becoming nicer, it seems to encourage us to come out and smell the fresh air. I been working on getting my stretches and legs toned up so I can walk better distances. It will come just not the moment I want it to happen.

RSROS - Welcome to the team. Exercise is not easy, I know when I go to the gym, I am the oldest and largest, but I don't care, I just do my exercises and go home. Bev

Hi, everyone! I'm new to the group. I'm 41 years old, and a mom to two lovely girls, ages 11 and 7. I want to be a better role model for them, starting with exercise. I may feel self-conscious moving my big body in public, but for their sake I can hide that, and move anyway. Eventually, I won't be faking it.

At least, that's my hope.

Nola welcome. You have taken the first step in losing weight by joining SP. I was on WW for 12 years and lost and gained many lbs. You have to adopt a plan and stick to it and maybe try the chair exercise that are here on SP Videos. They are really helpful to me because I have OA in both my knees and some days just getting up is a challenge. So stick with it and I am sure you will do well. One thing I gave up and never regretted was soda of any kind. Water is my friend. One good thing I got out of WW was to watch my sodium intake, when I did I lost weight. Bev

Hello all!

My name is Nola, I am a 38 year old mother of two teen boys!

I have been overweight my whole life, or at least since the age of 6. I've tried countless times to lose the weight and countless times I have failed. I decided that giving up isn't an option, I have to keep trying!

Now that my boys are older and more active it really has me needing to be in better shape for them. I also am looking at just a few short years before they are older and out of the house and Mom is all alone. My hope is that its during that time that I will get to really travel and see the world; but I have to lose weight first.

Really need some communications with people who know what it feels like and who want to make a difference in their lives as well as others.

I have a bad back, nerve damage in my legs and feet so excercise is really difficult right now. But I want to move more, I want to get healthier.

Christina, Welcome to the team. Goodness you have sure had your share of bad luck. But just think, now up is the only way to go now. This is my year too. I plan on sticking to the basics and when I go shopping for one item, don't buy out the store. When I have all that food in my house, I feel obligated to eat it. Silly me. I am proud of myself, went shopping on Friday for 2 items and only bought those two and one more.

I have 3 grown children, two live in other states with 4 of my grandchildren and one son lives with me and alas, there are no children. I live in a Senior Mobile Home Park and have a big doublewide with a pellet stove. Best move I could have every made. Bev

Hi, my name is Christina, I live in Sydney Australia, am 55 years old have three grown up children and two grandkids with one on the way. I have struggled with my weight since given birth to my youngest, when I was 30 years old. Since then I have gone through menopause, so my hormones have changed. Looking forward and making 2016 my year to shine. As the last few months have been traumatic with my husband leaving me, my mum going into hospital and a nursing home and 2 of my very best friends, my dogs, Tyson and Bella being put to sleep because of old age and having health issues.

It is very difficult to monitor sodium outside of the home, unless they actually input the sodium content on the package. As an example, Progresso Soups in the can serves 2, at 100 calories per cup and 960 sodium. I could eat the whole can, so I know not to buy them. I usually make my soups from scratch, so I can control the sodium.

Sarah - It is so difficult to write down sodium when I sometimes have absolutely no idea how much it is. When I went out with the girls last night, we went for Mexican food and the restaurant had no idea when I asked for the nutritional value of their foods. I had a wet vegetarian burrito, a few chips and salsa. Took 1/2 home and have it for lunch today, still no idea how much sodium. I am sure it is high. Once I went to KFC and ordered a chicken pot pie, asked for the nutritional value and the gal supplied it but asked me not to read it till I got home. LOL The pie alone was 1530 mg of sodium. I have never gone back. Thank you for the advice, it was well noted. Bev

It sounds like you are on the right track. If it helps you keep track of your sodium then write it down. Then you have written proof to show your doctor. Then between the two of you, a plan can be craved out for your specific needs.

Howdee - My name is Bev and I am 74 living in Sacramento CA, have 3 children and retired. Since I retired I gained weight that I am having a difficult time to lose. I have OA in both my knees and the extra weight hasn't helped. I was a WW for 12 years and my leader told me I am sodium sensitive, so I watch my sodium. 0-50 years you should keep the sodium at 1500mg and once you hit 70 it drops to 1200mg. I did it for a week and lost 7 lbs. But it is very difficult. Everything has sodium. I mainly do chair exercises and when at my computer and the ads pop up, I do my exercises, same as when commercials come on TV. I have 9lb dumb bells that I use all the time. I am open for any suggestions. Bev

Well it is easy to get locked into the sedentary mode. I have to try to remember to keep the timer close to the computer. I tried to set it for 45 minutes sitting and get up and walk around and do something more than the trip to the bathroom. There are days I'm not so good at.

It is something I try to do, every step and minutes added helps us in the long run. emoticon

Hello all,
I am an online teacher working 3 very sedentary jobs. I am seated in front of a computer 15-16 hours a day, 6 days a week average. I work from home. I love it but lament the lac of physical activity,
I am paying the price. So I need help in getting off the chair and doing something. That's why I am here.
Hope I can help others, too.

Hi my name is Amie I have about . . . 75 pounds to lose to be happy with myself. I am doing this for me, to feel better and be happier. I try to workout about 3 times a week and I walk as much as I can. Everywhere. I have had a hard time because all the home workout dvd's are already thin people and I can't always do the moves (even the modified ones). So I am making it up as I go and hopeful to get to my goal.

Hi, I'm Flo. I'm a married mother of 7 (3 biological and 4 bonus) and a CNA/HHA currently residing in Camden NJ. I've been with sparkpeople off & on for about 6 years now. I'm almost at my heaviest weight since I first started. Exercise isn't like it once was for me. I can't do things like I used to. But I digress...I look forward to learning and moving forward in my goal to be healthy.

Hi all, I am Linda. I'm returning to sparks weighing 313, its a little less then before. But like many on here I have decided that I can't do another diet. I have been big since I was 16 and now I'm 46. It has to be a lifestyle change, and so 3days ago I changed my eating habits and yesterday I started a cardio and strengthening video.😃

Hello everyone and Happy New Year!
My name is Karen and I live in Minneapolis, MN. I have been using Spark People on and off for years. My journey has taken me in many directions. I have years when I was quite active walking or hiking nearly everyday. Then health issues got in the way and I am at the place where I am today. That place is living in the past of wanting to be able to walk around my favorite lake and attend yoga classes. I have plenty of activities I want to do but can't bring myself to do the yoga or the walking or the swimming more than one day. I thought a group of like minded individuals could provide the support and accountability that I believe will help me with motivation. I do have issues of pain from arthritis which is difficult to overcome and also the anger and despair at being 100 pounds overweight and 59 years old.

If I can dream it I can do it.

Hi! My name is Jan and I live in Coalfield, TN. I am overweight, over stressed, and trying to get into a healthier lifestyle in spite of my size. It is not easy when you are overweight to do all the exercises that others do. I like yoga, but can't do many of the poses due to my weight.

I like the idea by Tracy to a lifestyle, not a diet. This is the mentality that I need to have. 2016 is the year I begin to like myself at whatever size and give myself the ok to be me.

Hi, my name is Tracy. I live in north central Washington state (about 30 miles SE from the tourist own of Leavenworth). My husband & I just celebrated our 10th wedding anniversary last month. I started my journey with SP a year ago October. I started at 351 and am down to 296 (well, I haven't weighed since before Christmas goodies). My journey is slow and steady, it is NOT a diet, but a lifestyle for the first time in my life. I am living and loving the changes that I have made so far with my eating choices and exercise choices. My husband was inspired by my success and since June he has lost 86# with exercise and healthier food choices. Exercises are so hard when you are large. At first everything hurt. I do have very bad left knee - arthritis. I started with walking. Slow and worked up to being able to do 2 miles at a time. Winter has hit me hard. Not able to go for my walks due to snow or very cold. I don't have fancy cold weather work out gear like some folks. Just before Christmas we got an old Apline Tracker cross country skiing exercise machine for free. That certainly works some different muscles than walking! But it doesn't hurt my knee at all. We got rid of our sofa to make room for the exercise equipment in our living room. Very limited space in older single wide mobile home. Yesterday our new exercise bike arrived. Hoping to put that together tonight. Then it won't matter what the weather is doing! I do miss my walks though because that was my "zen" time on my lunch breaks.
Anyways, sorry to ramble.. I am very happy to have found this team!

I recently returned to spark and at 222.2 pounds it is hard to find exercises . I hope to get some good suggestions . I really want to make this a life change not just another diet. I am 65 years old and I have been sick for the past 8 years, now I want to make permanent changes so I can be as active as possible.

Still learning, still living!

Hi, I'm Tammy. I have been married for 35 years. I have two grown sons, one is married and I have a granddaughter that's three and a grandson that is two. I work at a sedentary job and last year I was hit by a pick-up truck when walking across the street and have been having many problems since, but continue to work. I have been losing some weight and want to continue to do so. I would love to see my grandchildren grow up. I have been on spark people for awhile but I didn't know this group existed. I can't wait to get started.

Hi I'm Heidi. I'm back on SP again. This time I have made the time to exercise at least 5 days a week. I use a combination of the SP videos and YouTube videos. I get up at 5:30 am and grab a glass of water and plug in my Chromecast on my TV and start exercising. It's the first thing I do in the morning that way I get it out of the way.

Hi everyone!

My name is Bekah. I've been on Spark for about 5 years now, but I just found this team yesterday. I'm working hard to get fit. I need to find some exercises I can do in a small space. I need to find my jump rope and resistance bands. I think they're in storage. I did a chair exercise with one of the videos on Spark yesterday. It was actually difficult! And, it was only 11 minutes long! But, I plan on trying to do it every day for the next couple weeks to see if it will get any easier.

Hello! I'm Susan from Kansas! I've been a member of Spark People since 2008 and was really gung ho at first but work and life have taken my time lately. I'm the heaviest I've ever been at 217 and would really like to be around 145.

I was changing my winter clothes for my summer clothes and was appalled at how HUGE my shorts are! I thought, "I'm not really THIS size, am I?!" For some reason, I'm on the mailing list for the Victoria's Secret catalog and I would eventually like to be able to purchase something from there.

I'm going to start walking on my lunch hour tomorrow and strive to hit my step goal on my Vivofit every day. Going to see family in Philadelphia in July, many of whom I haven't seen in 7 years. I want to look my best, especially since I'll be attending a wedding when I'm there.

emoticon and so can you!!!

I can do this, with God's help!!!

With God, ALL things are possible!!

Now all glory to GOD, who is able, through HIS might power at work within us, to accomplish INFINITELY more than we might ask or think!

Its been a couple of years but I'm back. I'm a single mommy of one and hope to include her in my exercises and be a role model also. She needs to lose weight also. I do not want her to think just because she is overweight that she is limited in doing things or that she is any less of a person. emoticon

Hello, I joined SP over a year ago, did really good for awhile and then just got derailed and have tried numerous times to get back on track. I was injured in an accident a couple of years ago and struggle with chronic pain in my back and hips which has made exercise difficult. I am excited about finding this team

Hello peeps. I am starting low-impact exercises. I do seated resistance and seated core exercises. I'm on 800 calories per day and in another 8 weeks, I'll be increasing my calories.
I'm finally under 200 pounds, but the weight loss is very slow, measurements is down 16+inches. Strange I know. Just recovered a UTI with stones, so I'm ready to exercise. I'm floating between 195-198 sort of platue I guess from not exercising...so I'm starting up again.

Good Luck on your journey.

I lost 20 lbs last year while using SP and through a variety of circumstances and lots of stress gained it all back plus 5 lbs. I'm ready to get back on track but am currently nursing a stress fracture in my foot from... exercising. Frustrating but I'm not going to let it derail me. I joined this team to hear from others who are also experiencing difficulty exercising because they are overweight.

I am new in here. I was a member of Spark several years ago and had a hard time figuring out how to find things in here. Still have some of that problem but I am back and am going to stick with it this time.

My heaviest weight was 210. I am now around 185. I have lost and gained about 10 lbs now for several years. I need support from people who are right there with me who not only understand my health but also want to be supportive in the same goals. My family is somewhat supportive but then they are not all at the same time. They are supportive in their hearts but when it comes down to it the offer all kinds of foods that need to be left out of my diet.

I am trying to follow the Weston A. Price's foundation with fermented high probiotic foods, whole fresh foods, exercise and drinking lots of water. I am diabetic on top of it all. I joined this group because I feel like I fit in with everyone here. I would like to loose around 50ish lbs. Not sure what my goal weight will be I need to find out what my body wants to be at when I get my act together!

I love to quilt, I spend too much time on puter. My sewing room has not been able to be used now for about 3 years. Another story! But I have made some progress in there so I can sit and do some of my creative things.

I have two boxers, a white boy with one blue and one brown eye and a whole lot of trouble! And a brindle girl who is very well behaved. Go figure guess somewhere in that mix there is a balance?! LOL

Any way I would like to thank everyone for excepting me into the group. I would love to have some friends on my home page that I can get to know on a more personal basis as I love to make friends. Looking forward to meeting everyone in here!

Hello everyone. I'm new to this team, but I've been a Spark member for over 5 years. I initially lost 36 pounds toward my 100 pound goal but one thing led to another and I started again in January - 20 lbs heavier than my starting weight 5 years ago. It's time to get back on the healthy path and I'm hoping by utilizing the support from these teams I can reach my goal.

Hello everyone and how is everyone?

I am new to the team, been with spark people since January 1 of this year. I will be 42 at the end of this month. Born and raised in Delaware. I have been overweight/ obese as far as I can remember. I am honestly trying to lose weight with spark teams for support.

Hi - new to this team, but not to SparkPeople. I've been a member for some time, but am returning after about a 2-year hiatus. Now that I'm back, I am trying to make sure I have a good support system of others who are trying to reach similar goals.

I have about 100 lbs to lose - and I've lost and regained the same 20 lbs the past couple of years. I need to lose weight, so I have a better chance of staying healthy. I look forward to getting to know everyone. :)

I find it difficult to exercise because I get out of breath easily. I stay at home a lot so I have easy access to the kitchen(I don't own a car). I could use all the support, info & help I can

I am chris from Connecticut. I have been on SP since 2008. I have the most trouble controlling food in the evening--so when I got brave enough I started a team focusing on that problem. I am a plus sized exerciser. I find land exercises painful so water aerobic classes are "my thing." I am lucky to have good classes near me. I have been retired 2 years so I can get to the pool often. I always through had some kind of regular exercise going. I was a teacher and the school had a huge pool. I was a member of the "Dawn Dippers." I have a CD of exercises for Round Bodies. I like it but the pool is so much fun that I'd rather do that. I just got a new bathing suit--one size smaller. Whoo whoo!

Hi, I'm Karen and I'm new to this forum. I've been on SparkPeople many years, but never took it seriously. Right now I weigh between 300 - 310 lbs. I've been plus size since a young age, and have struggled for a long time. I gave up on myself.

It's time to change that and become the best me I can. I'm not out to be skinny, I'm out to be healthy. I'm a firm believer in the notion that when you're healthy, the weight will come off as it should. Sooooooooooo, I'm starting over as of yesterday. This is my new Day 2.

I hope to meet new friends on here and that we can all motivate each other.

Hi all, I'm Jem, 31 in Alberta, Canada, new to the team. I've been slacking off and gaining weight for a long time now. I'm getting back to it and hoping to not derail so I'm taking it day by day. I'd love to make some new friends here to keep me wanting to come back, and to help keep me accountable.

Rejoining, old member

Hi, I'm Vicki and I'm 58 years old. Salt has always been hard for me to cut back on but due to my husbands severely damaged heart he has to cut back to no more than 2000 grams a day and 1200 calories a day. So I'm following the same plan he's doing to make it easier on both of us. Right now our goals are to eat in a much healthier fashion and to lose 60 lbs over the next 12 months.

Greetings and Salutations.

My name is Tia and i'm 31 with a beautiful child and significant other (SO). My SO and myself have decided it is time to shed the pounds we packed on and find the skinny people trapped inside. Together we have about 175 pounds to lose, and a wonderful journey to share on the way there. I just joined sparks people yesterday and look forward to getting to know people and exploring the world of fitness around me.

Hello All. I am a long term spark member looking for a supportive team. I am working on getting back to exercising daily so that I can have an easier time traveling. The world has a lot of wonderful sights to see, mostly at the top of stairs :). I'm not specifically looking for weight loss (though I am a BIG girl) I wouldn't mind some.

Hi, everyone! I'm fairly new to Spark. I've lost almost 20 pounds since November 2013 (though most of it came off before January and I have not been trying as hard since). I joined a gym, but I find it difficult to use the equipment there. I tend to go with my mom who is much smaller than me and it is difficult to see her doing things I can't. I would like to incorporate different exercises into my daily routine. I am excited to meet the people in this group!

Hi all! Im back to spark people again! Keep trying all the diets and I see that since I was last on this diet I gained 15 lbs in 2 yrs! I have tried a med wt loss and wt watchers still gaining. What happens when we get over 50?? Need to learn to excercise in a new way, sick of feeling like a jellyfish at the gym with the young skinny instructor saying "you can do it".....seriously I cant and I dont want to be in tremendous pain the next day. Any help would be appreciated.

hi, I just started sparkpeople on march 10th. wanted to say welcome and good luck on your venture. I started my venture by elimating sugar where ever possible. this has let me lose 12 pounds since jan 1, the day I retired. and decided this is the time to work on me. and I am. try finding a book that will help understand how food affects your body, one by the doctor. it was very helpful to get me going and continue on my quest. GOOD LUCK. will be there for you all the way. gotta lose 95 pounds. says it will take till 2.15.2015. wish me luck.

keep on trucking

Hi - I'm Angie. I just joined Spark People today and came upon this spark community. I need motivation to maintain an exercise program, which is hard to do when you are plus sized. Not all exercised on DVD's are possible at this point, but I'm looking forward to making a positive change and to get moving. Best of luck to all of us.

Hi ~ My name is Sheila and I live in NE Ohio. I am a retired elementary teacher, single, and share my home with two elderly cats (Jake and Nellie). I need to return to a routine of daily exercise but find myself resisting! I'm hoping this team will motivate me to start moving.

Hi everyone,

My name is Neah and I have been a SP member for a couple years now off and on... sadly returning from an off period and am looking for more ways to be held accountable and interact with others along the same journey. Recently started running and am looking forward to increasing that as time goes on.

Good luck to all! emoticon

Rejoined after months gone:

I'm a 57 year old woman that has a total of 83 lbs to lose to reach a decent weight where I can possibly get off of blood pressure pills and also not hurt so much from RA of the spine. I've been told by my doctor that the less extra weight I'm carrying the less stress there will be on my joints. I don't expect to lose it fast. It took me 8 years to put on all the weight. My goal is to drop 2 lbs every month and keep it off til I reach my 92 lb goal.
I am married to Bob and he's just had to get a pacemaker/defibrullator in March, and is still adjusting to having a very weak heart (20% heart strength), so I tend to stress over his health a lot, and when I'm stressing out, I tend to eat more than I should. So I will be working on making healthier food choices over time.

Hello everyone I'm a newbie to the group. I signed up in 2013 but fell off . I'm back and ready to be consistent for the most in getting active and logging the food I eat.

I have 240 lbs to lose by Jan 2016 slow and steady wins the race. I can't stand long so I will be doing Chair Zumba and other chair workouts & Stability Ball 10 min 3 x daily starting out and every 3 weeks add more time until I work up to 60 min.

I'm looking forward to doing exercises standing up and walking.

Looking for an accountability partner.

Hi everyone! I am new to the team.

I joined SparkPeople about two weeks ago,I think it was.

I would love to lose about 170 pounds by the end of September 2015.That would drop me down to I think 180 pounds and I am now 350 pounds.

I am taking things slow since I get overwhelmed very very easy.

I already set my weekly goals for Feb and will reward myself for completing those goals. I think it is good to reward myself for sticking with exercise as well as losing the weight.

I also can not wait to be able to pull off some cute Cosplays after I have lost a good bit of weight!

Hi All, I've been registered with SparkPeople for quite some time now but not very consistently, disciplined or committed.

It's for me to stop visualizing my weight loss/healthy living dream/desire but begin to be a part in making it my reality. I too, don't wish to be skinny...I love curves and I want to get to a happy peaceful place with who I am in my skin.

I will definitely seize the opportunity and really rely on this team for support. Perhaps if I had done so in the past, I would be at my physical happy place. But I'm a firm believer, timing is everything; and this is definitely my time.

Best wishes to everyone with their journey,

Hello everyone,

My name is Tamika and I am on a quest to love over half of my body weight. My first short term goal is 12lbs by 2/14. I do a combination of Leslie Sansone at home walking videos, Zumba, walking/jogging on the track, or working out at the gym. I wish everyone the best in their goals! emoticon

Hi! I joined this team cos I'm not big on exercise. I try to walk daily as a minimum, 50 minutes preferably, and I have Callanetics DVDs and other DVDs but as yet haven't used them!... I like the idea of SalsaDX and Zumba but have never done either. Hoping to pick up some tips and encouragement from this team!

Hi! I'm Kathleen, and I live in Austin, TX. Last year I lose 80 lbs by eating plant strong and running a few times a week. This year I got into a new relationship and I've gained 20 of those lbs back

I joined SP about a month ago trying to get back on track with my weight loss. It's been slow to start. Although I haven't lost any weight, I've re-established some good habits like:
- exercising 10-30 minutes/day (Wii Dance or recumbent biking)
- doing a few minutes of at-home strength training
- tracking my food/water

I'm looking for Spark Friends to exchange motivation/daily successes and challenges with. Please feel free to friend me if you'd like.
