I'm a 0L (planning to start Fall 2015), taking the LSAT on Feb 8th. I've been on SparkPeople for a few years, and getting motivated again. I enlisted in the Army a few years ago with plans to be a chaplain, but that fell through, so now I'm looking at going to law school, like I planned in high school. Thanks in advance for the encouragement!

Hey all! My name is Keri and I will be a 1L this fall! I've been working really hard this year to get my weight/diet/exercise all in sync so that come this fall I have a plan in place to continue with a healthy lifestyle despite all the stress that I know attending law school will bring! Any advice from 2Ls or 3Ls on how to balance school/life/and proper health?! I'm sure I'll need it!

I did the same thing after I graduated! I graduated in mid-May, got married June 1st, and took the bar at the end of July. I started working the Monday after the bar was over.
You have a heck of a summer lined up. Good luck!

Seems like this board is a little quiet, but I'm Daniella, 2L at Oregon Law at the University of. I'm getting married after I graduate, so now's the time to get in shape for that wedding. :)
In addition to that, I just haven't been eating well this year, and I feel like my concentration is suffering for it. Better eating habits? Losing weight? Sounds like this may be the place for me, eh?

Hey guys! I'm Tara, and I'm a 2L at Cleveland-Marshall College of Law. I've used this site on and off, and right now I need to be ON it. Law school, especially at this time of year, makes me stress eat. And the closer we get to exams, the less time I have for exercise. All that bad eating and lack of working out doesn't really help me focus. Maybe some of you can relate - I'm so glad I found a law student group on here!

Hi, I'm still doing my undergrad (in Canada you have to have a degree before you do law school), and then I plan on doing law school, either at Dalhousie or Ottawa U.

Hello everyone! My name is Jocelyn and I'm a 1L at Hamline University School of Law in St. Paul. I've lost a lot of weight since being diagnosed with celiac disease in September 2010, and since shifting my diet, my life has improved dramatically. However, I would still like to lose about 30lbs to be in my best fighting shape. Of course, this being finals time means it's even harder to break away from the books to work out and fix healthy meals, but I'm trying my best and open to any ideas you all might have.
Nice to meet you all!

I've just decided to start at University of Colorado law school in the fall! I'm very excited, but a little nervous about the adjustment going back to school (I've been working for 3 years since undergrad) and being able to keep up what I've learned regarding nutrition and fitness.
Looking for advice and tips!

Hello everybody! My name is Amanda, and I'm a 1L fresh out of undergrad at a southern law school - i'd rather not say, i'm trying to keep this relatively anonymous. I lost a bunch of weight this last year, but i gained a lot of it back due to stress during this first semester. I love school, but i definitely got my butt kicked, to say the least. So this semester I'm going to be more organized and on top of my work, and I'm getting my eating habits under control.

I'm here because I gained weight over the last year, and don't want it to continue. Sounds dumb but I have some great professional outfits that I don't want to replace. The only way I can keep that from happening is if I start losing some weight. I'm also here because after sitting and reading caselaw all day I need something to do. So this helps motivate me.
Hope I get to know some of you. I would love to be/have a motivation buddy so let me know!

Hi everyone! I'm a 2L at Seton Hall Law in New Jersey. I'm primarily interested in criminal defense and prisoners' rights law and will probably do public service in the future to take advantage of the loan forgiveness program (huzzah!).
Pretty anxious about trying to get a handle on this whole healthy lifestyle thing while being in school, so hopefully this will be a good team for me! I would like to get as close to my goal weight as possible by my birthday in February, so I have to stop slacking (translation: eating processed food and drinking). I just have to keep in mind how much better it feels to live healthy and that it makes me focus better!
Good luck on the new school year to everyone!

Hi all -- I'm a rising 3L (geez, that sounds so weird to say!) at Stanford and will be moving to nyc to work for a firm in midtown after graduation. I am actually "officially" involved in almost nothing this year; signed up for several different mentoring programs and other than that just plan to help out my more ambitiously involved friends when they need it.
But a lot of this year will be taking time for myself, knowing that this is the last year of freedom before real life begins! That includes -- most importantly -- running my first full marathon in January and hopefully dropping 10-15 pounds and figuring out the workouts and eating strategies that will let me maintain that when time is harder to come by later on.
Any others have fitness goals for the upcoming year?

Thanks for starting this thread Beth :)
Hi team! My name is Semuteh (pronounced: Sa-moo-tay) and I'm a 2L at NYU Law. I'm a Root Tilden Scholar at NYU which means I've committed to doing public interest work after graduating (read, not work at a big firm). I'm really interested in International Human Rights Law and specifically human rights in Sub-Saharan Africa. I'm spending my 1L summer in Nairobi, Kenya working at the National Human Rights Commission and loving it. I can definitely see myself doing similar work in the future.
Before NYU, I did TFA in the Mississippi Delta for two years (9th grade Algebra) after graduating from Yale in 2008. I loved teaching and it was a great experience for providing perspective for law school. No matter how bad classes get, law school is NOT as hard as teaching high school math in rural Mississippi ;)
This year I'll be busy with Moot Court Board, Black Law Students Association (secretary), and African Law Students Association (chair). I'm really excited to be more active in my organizations and my courses are really interesting as well.
That's pretty much it...there's more info on my Spark Page! Let's hear from everyone else!

Hi all! Please feel free to introduce yourself!
My name is Beth and I am a 3rd year law student at Southern Illinois University School of Law. The school was established in the late 70's to address the need for attorneys in the southern regions of Illinois, and has a great focus on public interest and health law and tuition is very inexpensive compared to other schools.
I am chief justice of my school's national moot court team, a Westlaw representative, and I have worked at a local, legal aid firm since the summer after my first year.
I went to undergrad at Oklahoma City University in OKC, OK, and plan on taking the Illinois bar. It is my desire to practice family law when school is finished, but will take whatever law job I can get!
Please tell the law students team a little about yourself! I am interested to know more about each of you!
