Hi there. I'm Kristen, 28, mom to two-under-five.
I was turned on to bento lunches by the Vegan Lunch Box blog and cookbook last year, but not until this week did I buy any bento lunch boxes for our family.
I finally decided to take the plunge when my son started back to preschool this year. The school asks that the kids bring HEALTHY snacks to eat in the mornings, and apparently most parents' ideas of "healthy" includes cookies and potato chips. Well, of course, my son was WAY more interested in what the other kids had than his own apple (which he usually can't get enough of).
I figured that if I got him a cool little lunch box and packed it with fun-looking and yummy-tasting snacks made of wholesome foods, he would enjoy his school snacks more. That's what I'm HOPING, anyway! And maybe HE will be the envy of his classmates, this time around.
So, I got one box for him, one for my daughter for when she starts preschool next year, and one for me since I'm going back to college in the spring and want to avoid the cafeteria and vending machines.
Sorry for the lengthy intro. I look forward to seeing everyone's creative lunches!
