Thank you! :) The pink spirals are compressed fish (kind of tastes like nothing but looks very pretty). You can find them in most japanese-asian grocery stores - they come frozen in sausage-like tube, and you slice the pieces off.
I'm new to the team but not new to making bentos :) I went one exchange to Japan 4 years ago (oh my god I just realized how long it's been..) and was lucky enough to have a homemade bento from my host mom everyday for a year, and loved it.
