Hello everyone-

I have lost over 20 lbs in the last 6 months and I am now at a weight that i feel that I can hopefully maintain. I have started to eat more sugars and carbs lately and can feel that i am starting to slip back into old habits. I hope this team will help me keep motivated even though I'm not losing anymore weight.

My weight loss doesn't seem that significant (20-25 pounds) but I went from a tight size 10 to a loose size 2. I have never been this small in my life. I have to remind myself often how small I am. I usually don't see the changes when I look in the mirror. I still feel ike my old self. I am almost 36, and I like to shop at Banana Republic and Ann Taylor Loft.

You are right. My husband had gastric bypass surgery 14 months ago and has lost 150 lb. I can't imagine how he feels!

I was shopping tonight and did find some size 6 pants, the basic kind, for work, that actually fit but I saw some skirts and even the 4 didn't have a small enough waist. I do measure myself now and then but I guess it doesn't register that I am smaller.

I do sew and I have wonderful pattern making software made by wildginger.com. I made a pair of capris that actually fit perfectly. Just a time to sew issue. I am working full time and have community and church projects plus got my first grandson a few weeks ago and have another coming in December (not the same mother, of course!). I am addicted to Pilates and go 2 or 3 x week. Just love it!

It is a very nice feeling to be healthy and feel so much better, isn't it?

I think we all end up with lasting image problems... I treat mine by looking in the mirror a LOT. LOL! But knowing we still have these image problems, and that they're irrational, helps us deal with it. I've been maintaining for about 5.5 months, so I'm still working on it. :)

I'm glad I can sew a little... it allows me to make my pants go a little further, by taking them in. I have two pairs of work pants that have a size 12 label, but I have taken them down to a size 10. However, I now wear an 8, so I am going to have to do some shopping soon! LOL!

I love the variety of people on Spark... for some people, an 8 is super-big, and for others, it's a milestone celebration! LOL! I fall into the latter category... I'm 5' 7", and was size 18 for 13 years... now I'm back down to an 8, which I haven't seen since high school! :D

Congrats on reaching your goal -- it may not have been as big as other people's, but it still matters! :D

Thank you on all counts. I am working on the wardrobe thing. I never have been below a size 8 before. The size 8 tops fit okay but the bottom thing is something else. I just discovered that Penney's has a variety of pants in styles I can wear to work and will check that out also.

I get tired of my baggy pants! But in the end, isn't that a GOOD FEELING! LOL!

Thanks again and it is nice to be here!

First, welcome to the team! I'm happy you found us and glad you posted in the forum to introduce yourself.

I think almost everyone on this team has experienced similar image issues...it takes a while for the brain to catch up with the physical changes. It's certainly been that way for me personally.

We've also had discussions about some good places to shop for smaller sizes when you have adult taste in clothing...and it is a challenge. For casual, I like Gap because they carry small sizes and short lengths in both new and classic styles. Another place I've found some good stuff is Victoria's Secret online...they sell clothes in small sizes that fit well if you follow their measurements. I also shop at Old Navy, thanks to my daughter...I needed someplace for inexpensive clothes since I basically needed an entire wardrobe....

Hi. I was in the "10 lb. and under" group in March and have taken off my weight and also quite a few inches with the help of Pilates and my treadmill.

I am in the wilderness of maintaining now. I was surprised to have another jolt in more lost inches recently.

Even though I did not have a lot to lose, apparently I am still seeing myself as bigger than I am and I still don't really feel like I am "small" although other people seem to. It is really odd. I try on the wrong size clothing in stores and end up wallowing in the clothing I select. And I don't know where to shop any more as I am older and wear a misses size but the stores I frequent don't stock as much if anything, especially in pants, under size 8.

Some of you have traveled a longer journey I know. Do you have body image challenges?
