Yesterday I had the privledge of going back to the place I worked last fall and saw my former co-workers who had not seen me in close to a year. It was so cool to see their amazement at my weight loss and made me feel so good! Of course part of me was thinking 'what are they talking about' because the new lifestyle becomes habit and you can forget the 'old you'.

It is amazing how the reflux simply goes away with significant weight loss.

Welcome and congrats. I, too, did the slow-but-steady method of weight loss. It's really cool to look back and see the changes and the new habits we've all created, isn't it?! And that's awesome that your DH was motivated by you, too!!!

emoticon I used to have heartburn also, but now I rarely have that problem. I have more energy, and life is more fun!

Congratulation, and welcome! I had similar experience - starting to get heartburn so often I was thinking I should get checked for GERD - but after about a month of better eating, problems diminished and now the only time I get it is if I overeat on wheat things (bread, cake, cookies, etc) - which are all off my list but just can't resist an occasional treat. That almost-immediate "punishment" sure helps remind me not to overdo!!

You have done just great - DH too - Keep it up!

Hi guys! Just found this team today after following another thread. I have been maintaining since May although I set my goal at 5lbs less than I currently weigh. I have lost 56lbs since March of 2006. The weight came off sure and steady between 1-2 lbs a week. I look back on what I used to consume in food and how inactive I was and I am not the same person anymore. Yeah! I had gained 57 lbs over a 2 year period and was at a point that I could not sit comfortably, was having reflux, and had no energy.
All these issues are gone. I have found that I am eager to try new adventures in life. My husband was inspired by my journey and lost 25lbs which took decades off his appearance. We have a tandem bike we enjoy riding and keep each other motivated. I look forward to sharing this segment of my journey with this team.
