If you put your mind to it you can do anything you want to. So don't let know one hold you back. Because they will do things or say things to keep you from pushing on.

You can do this! You can stay on track. You can eat healthy foods and feel better about you. You can run 5Ks, half marathons or any other activity you want to do. You need to believe in you like I do! Any money spent on you is always worth it! You are a wonderful and great person. Sometimes sisters are a little jealous of the other. You do not need to be jealous of her because you are great and you can stay healthy. Linda from bean town

Look past that weight that your sister has and focus on what you are willing to get to your goal. You can do anything you want to do. Just stay on track with Sparkpeople and your friends you have her. You can do it and so keep pushing. Good luck.

Thanks for the replies and suggestions. I really appreciate them. I'll let you know how it works out over the month. I guess I'll be rising at 430AM (I have to get in 30 minutes of meditation daily too) and may just have to start over and rebuild my mileage in July.

Sometimes I get really frustrated because my sister (who weighs 115 pounds, can eat whatever she wants, may run when she feels like it, made fun of my size growing up, and referred to the finisher's medal I got for my first half as "a waste of money") can't understand what I have to do in order to maintain a healthy weight and doesn't seem to care about the fitness related activities I've already sacrificed. Yeah, there's a lot of resentment.

Do a hard core bodyweight workout at night - even 30 minutes can be really great if you really push yourself.

I once got an amazing workout in a deserted corner of the Las Vegas airport, following the You Are Your Own Gym iPhone app. 30 min. And I was beat.

You can find suggestions here or on YouTube. Or you can do three reps of this workout: well.blogs.nytimes.com/2013/05/09/th

Hang in there. It's hard not to resent having our comfortable and familiar routines disrupted.

You have to think about what's best for you. Your sister needs to stop being selfish. But it's your health and your body. You know what you have to do to keep your weigh down.

Run: Don't give up your running during the week for five weeks, just go for shorter runs, or do exercise indoors to a DVD. And no, I have not smelled anything in my exercise room when I regularly did DVDs indoors. Just open the windows on occasion and that should be fine. I would say try and help your sister, but don't give up the exercising. Try and do a few minutes here and there and get it in as best as you can. If your sister can't take that, ... guess, I shouldn't say it. But for your own well being you need the exercise, and I won't give up my exercise routine completely for anyone. Not my son, not my husband. Now, have I allowed an occasional off day, or a lighter day to accommodate them, yes, but I will not cease exercising during the week for 5 weeks straight. No way, no how.

I sometimes have to do things that bum me out, and screw up my schedule for my sister, but I wouldn't think of not doing what she needs me to do.
My sis would give me the shirt off her back so if she needs me I'm there.

It's your Dad's car. What would you be thinking if your sister were the sole driver and you needed a ride for 5 weeks? Things look different from different points of view. Ever notice how different the parking lot looks from the car looking at the store than from the store looking at the car? A situation looks different to each person involved.

Posted this in the wrong forum by accident and don't know how to delete it. Sorry.

The short question is am I being selfish if I donít want to accommodate my sister by giving up exercising on weekdays for 5 weeks? (ďDonít want toĒ is the key. I havenít said Iím not going to do it.) Does that make me selfish or obsessed with exercise?

The longer version isÖ

My sister and I will be working in the same place, but living separately. She doesnít have a car and driving her around is going to make running more difficult than it already will be. She feels I can give up running for 5 weeks or only workout on the weekends. I disagree. (Iím not sure how long it takes to break a habit, but I imagine itís less than 5 weeks. Running on back-to-back days is hard on my knees, and I rely on a daily workout to keep my moods even.)

Notes:
1. My days will already last from 640AM-720PM without driving her. That means my runs will already start very close to darkÖ in New Orleans.
2. Itís too humid here to run in the mornings and would be dark anyway.
3. Iíve been maintaining a 25-pound weight loss for 8 months. Previously, I lost 30 pounds, went out of town for a month, stopped working out and never started again. I gained back 20 pounds over the next year.
4. The car isnít in my name but our dadís. However, I was the sole driver for 5 years. I take it in for oil changes, tire replacements, inspection stickers, etc. and have put $2000+ into it the past 2 years.
5. I havenít been able to find any 5AM, 1230PM, or 730PM cardio classes. It wouldn't make sense to join a gym anyway because I won't be paid for the 5 weeks of work, and I won't necessarily be living in New Orleans longterm.
6. I smell a lot when I workout and fear I would leave that behind if I do DVDs in the room I'm subletting. (I also get bored very easily.) The place has no yard.
7. I altered my workout schedule from mornings to evenings in January because of the car situation, but altering and eliminating are very different sacrifices.
